Cytomel hypothyroid

Common Questions and Answers about Cytomel hypothyroid

cytomel

Avatar f tn My docter lowered synthyroid to 125 mcg and added 12.5 cytomel 2 times a day. I am wondering if that is too much cytomel? My docter said as long as the other level were fine and I felt ok . But I seemed hungery and my hair was thinning.
Avatar n tn In Feb 2009 I was diagnosed by Dr. hypothyroid started cytomel after 2 months rechecked labs added synthroid. TSH was <0.1. 2 months later still no change--no med change. Went to Endocronologist and she ordered numerous labs. Thinks may be pituitary tumor. Symptoms are weight gain without being able to loose any, night sweats--recent hysterectomy, cold intolerance only during daytime. Occasional hair loss --not bad.
Avatar f tn Please post results from thyroid tests, along with reference ranges.
Avatar f tn This is a repeat question as I did not get any replies to my previous post on this matter. Does anyone know if being hypothyroid can cause heart palpitations and extra beats? I have tried to research it online and can't find much. Thanks!
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism 5 years ago. I initially was just givin Cytomel for my T3 levels. After going to a different endocrinologist three years ago, she put me on synthroid for the first time. She went on extended leave and I was referred to another doctor. She ordered bloodwork to be done before she wrote me a new prescription and agreed I was hypothyroid as well. She since left, I was referred to yet again another doctor.
Avatar f tn I am at my witts end. Ive suffering from hypothyroid since 2006. Finally in 2009 I was sent to an endocrinologist. she put me on 200mcg of synthroid. I started feeling like myself and dropped the weight I had put on. This past August all my symptoms returned. Since August I have put on 12lbs. I continue to go to the gym and I have no appitited. But, the weight continues to increase. I talk to my Dr, but its as if Im talking to a brick wall.
Avatar f tn i take 200mcg of synthroid and i am still having hypothyroid symptom. fatigue, sleep 8+ hours and want to sleep more, weight gain, forgetfulness. this is causing my depression to get worse. i was sent to an endocrinologist, she lowered my dosage to 175. i tried to explain the returning symptoms. she stated she was going by my blood work only. my blood work shows hyperthyroid. she started giving me the spill about brittle bones, heart problems.
903476 tn?1242237037 The dr keeps saying we have to take it slow. One of my other doctors said I needed cytomel instead. Will the cytomel regulate my thyroid back to normal? I've been 110lbs my adult life then all of sudden I'm 150 and aging a pant size per week. Cut out all sugar grains flour. All other labs are normal hyponatremia under control.
Avatar n tn 9, he decided to change my synthroid to 100 much and added Cytomel 5mcg twice a day. I’m not familiar with Cytomel, will the addition of this medicine compensate reducing my synthroid? Will it help with my Simptoms? Thank you!
Avatar f tn This question I posted about the use of Cytomel breaking off my hair was for Hypothyroid not hyperthyroid. I had no symptoms of Hypo but was told I needed medication.
Avatar n tn Graves Disease 1978 following by two RAI sessions, permanently hypothyroid. Took Synthyroid for 20+ years and have not felt well. Went on T3 3 years ago and did well but lately more hypo symptoms. Now will be taking 50 Cytomel and 1 grain of Armour to start out with. My systoms are hair loss, ear ringing, tired, not sleeping. Anyone tried T3 with Armour. I am praying this will work and reverse my symptoms.
Avatar n tn Hello everyone I have already been taking cytomel for a few years because I had hypothyroid symptoms with a consitently low basal body temp, even though my tsh was "normal".The cytomel has been great except I had to taper down a little because I was sweating excessively on it. I just had a more complete blood test and my thyroglobulin antibodies were high while the other antibodies were normal. Otherwise everything was normal except my free t4 was at the very bottom of the range.
Avatar f tn Im hypothyroid, last test has showed I have high RT3 so I switched from 130mcg synthroid and 1 grain armour TO 15 mcg Cytomel and 1 grain armour. I also did cortisol saliva test which shows im LOW in cortisol cortisol morning. 2.6 ng/ml. normal range. 3.7-9.5 >cortisol noon 2. ng/ml. normal range. 1.2-3.0 >cortisol evening. 1.1. normal range. 0.6-1.9 >cortisol night. 0.2. normal range. 0.4-1 the problem is I keep gaining weight, i have headaches, tired, feel like I have cold.
Avatar m tn I have been feeling better than I started out last year but I usually feel better when the doctor changes the dosage and then it gradually gets crappy. (tired, achy, feeling cold) This time I stayed relatively stable. Right before last Thurs when I got my blood drawn I didn't feel great but not as horrible as I usually feel by the time I'm due for a blood draw. So the doctor called me today and told me to take one 5mcg Cytomel in the am then take 5mcg of Cytomel at 2pm.
Avatar n tn 30am and 30mg Armour and 5 McG Cytomel again at 3pm. I feel great, much better than when they had me on just 30mg Armour once a day.
Avatar n tn I sent you a PM more specifically about RAI and thryogen, but yes. After my TT I was started on Cytomel only, in preparation for RAI. It's a weird drug but for the most part I did fine on it. It stays in your system for a matter of hours not days or weeks. And therefore it's the perfect drug pre-RAI.
Avatar f tn You've been on straight Cytomel for 13 years? No T4 meds?
Avatar m tn After reading an article about Cytomel and speaking with my endocrinologist, he added Cytomel to my treatment. Recently he decided to reduce my Cytomel dosage by 1/2. Since that change, I have less energy and can't seem to stay awake. Could the lower dosage be the cause?
Avatar n tn I had the same symptoms as you when taking Cytomel. Cytomel is a potent form of T3. I was sensitive to that small dose with my unithroid. I'm glad the doctor reduced your Synthroid. Seems like your doses were really high--especially the Cytomel, which still seems a concern. I would research Cytomel and get a second opinion from an endochronologist. Ridha Arem, M.D. explains the correct usage of giving Synthroid with Cytomel.
Avatar f tn June 2017: (Dr.Mai) 125mcg Synthyroid 5mcg Cytomel. Felt much better with the added 5mcg cytomel but I still would like med increase my weight won't budge and my body pains are terrible. FT4 - 1.62 (0.93 - 1.7) T3 - 121 (80 - 200) TSH - 0.812 (0.27 - 4.20) With 5mg of Cytomel added.
