Cytomel heart rate

Common Questions and Answers about Cytomel heart rate

cytomel

Avatar f tn many men the heart rate is upper 70's low 80's I beleive. I'm not to sure I'd worry about your heart rate so much. In fact I'd be more worried about your rate being as low as you had it in the past. Sure discuss it with your Dr and a true racing heart rate or tachicardia I believe in well in excess of 100. When I excersive I believe my heart rate and it is supposed to be for a 48 year old man to be about 160.
Avatar f tn and would sometimes range between 65 and 70, which felt horrible to me, because I was so used to the low heart rate. Later, when the cytomel was added, my heart rate would actually go into the 80's when exercising, which felt like my heart was positively racing. I was sent to a cardiologist for complete work up; it was determined that other than leaky valves, which are currently of no concern, there's nothing wrong with my heart.
Avatar f tn m getting less T3 (on Cytomel I was taking 5 mg 3x/day) with the Armour but seems to affect the heart rate more (not too much over 100). From their website it appears to be same ratio as previous? They didn't change the ratio of T4/T3 did they? Maybe it's absorbed faster now? I do feel a little better on Armour again and have only been back on it for 4 days. So maybe my body just needs to reajust to the Armour.
1369218 tn?1282423884 If you think you have a heart issue, by all means see a cardiologist. I had palps, rapid heart rate as well, when I first started cytomel, but once I got used to it, and my levels stabilized, those went away. I did get sent to a cardiologist for a complete work up on my heart, just to be sure.. We are all different, so what works for one, might not work another. Some people just can't tolerate having high levels of thyroid hormones.
Avatar f tn I am on only 5 mcg cytomel daily. I was on 10 mcg, but after about 3 months, I began having rapid heart rate, palps, etc - which as we both know, would not be recommended for someone with heart issues.........
Avatar f tn My FT3 is barely mid range. It has not raised my temp, nor does it seem to affect my pulse or heart rate, although a larger dose did. Again --- the affect it has will depend on the individual and if you suspect problems, you should contact your doctor.
252327 tn?1250183976 however, after about 2 months, I began having very rapid heart rate and palpitations. When I saw my endo at the end of June, we cut the cytomel back to 5 mcg/day and raised the levo to 75. I began to feel better for a while, but over the past week or so, I've been having a lot of periods of extreme fatigue - sometimes I feel like I just need to lay down and sleep.....
Avatar f tn The other endos tell me that I need to get off the ctyomel immediately as it causes heart problems and osteoporosis in menopausal women. The endo that put me on cytomel told me that these endos were full of sh**!! And that he himself has been on cytomel for years, so why would he put himself on a drug that risks his heart? I am torn as to who is right here.
263988 tn?1281954296 EEK! My heart rate is thinks I'm on a motor speedway, 64 - 70 bpm resting! Normal for me is 54 resting so I'm feeling this and I don't like it. I had heart palpitations while lying down when I awakened this morning. I called the answering service for my doc and the doc on call was a bit of a ... I won't say. He brushed off my concerns and said nothing should be changed and that I should continue taking my thyroid meds as prescribed. He told me to call my doctor on Monday though.
665587 tn?1265946924 i know too much thyroid meds can cause rapid heart rate/heart problems which in turn will cause difficulty breathing.. few yrs ago, they put me on cytomel..found out i had an allergic reaction=difficulty breathing, gasping for air with rapid/irregular heart rate/beat. maybe u should check that out, an allergic reaction....good luck feel better. merry xmas...
Avatar f tn Though my tsh is low my body temperature is 97.4. Resting heart rate is 58. Average heart rate while walking around is 80. Blood pressure is 110/72. I'm vegan so my cholesterol is 160, never had problems with cholesterol or blood sugar. I can not get a doctor to prescribe based on how I feel they just keep looking at the tsh level. My psychiatrist is prescribing it because I begged her as no endo would listen and she is cool. I am on 25 mcg cytomel and 75 mcg levothyroxine.
533212 tn?1245849211 Hi and thank you for your reply to both you and Peggy64. I have been feeliing a little hyper with some heart rate skips and such. Although bowel movement is a little sluggish, normally that's my gage for hypothyroidism but with nervousness think that perhaps I would feel better by lowering my dose of synthroid, waiting to see what my results show. I look forward to other conversations. thanks again.
Avatar m tn I have been on a Synthroid/Cytomel combo for 10+ years, and it has worked great for me. The only possible side effect was that my resting heart rate was running 90-105 for the last few years. Over the last year, I've been slowly building up with new hyper symptoms and annual lab tests confirmed that my T3 level was too high. Most frustrating symptoms are heat intolerance, insomnia, and lifestyle-altering anxiety.
Avatar n tn s back again since I started on the cytomel. Last night was really bad, along with rapid, pounding heart beats that lasted for about an hour before I could fall back to sleep. Heart rate is fine now and I'm back to feeling cold again.
Avatar f tn Your FT3 is on the low end of the scale, so cytomel might have been called for. That would depend on how long you have been on thyroid med(s). It takes a while (5-6 weeks) after a dosage change to get the full effect....(except with cytomel, which will being working right away).. 25 mcg cytomel is a very large dose to start with. I started out with 10 mcg and had rapid heart rate, palps, etc.........
640719 tn?1277140030 I've been on cytomel, with my levo for over a year now. I started out on 10 mcg cytomel/day and felt great, but then started having heart palps, rapid heart rate, etc so we cut back to 5 mcg -- that didn't help the heart "issues", but echocardiogram, and all other tests show, aside from leaky valves, that my heart is fine. I was sent for pulmonary function tests, which came back showing emphysema from the many years of smoking I did -- I quit, just not soon enough!!
363243 tn?1331033850 I needed to add a T3 med in order to bring my level up so I could function well also, but began having the tachy; my pcp added atenolol (20 mg), which dropped both my heart rate and bp too low, so I now split the pill in half -- it works for me...... You might want to ask you doctor about a low dose of beta blocker. You could then try the 50 mcg levo, with the beta blocker and see how that works (of course, that depends on your current heart rate and blood pressure).
Avatar f tn I have been taking it for 2 days and took a nap both days so maybe that is not the case. Strangely enough it seemed to have slowed my heart rate down a bit. I am the 1% of weird side effects from drugs, if it is listed as rare, I will have it. Thanks for the input.
Avatar f tn My endo increased my meds from 50 to 100 in one shot - and oh boy Ive suffered from it!! Heart palpatations, high BP, fast heart rate and overall not feeling good at all. Its much better to go slower just to be safe. Large increases arent always a good idea.
Avatar m tn thank you for the quick reply. I have tried five cardios so far and none look beyond 'normal' lab results, for both heart and thryroid, to symptoms. In any case there's no Cytomel in Guatemala so I will have to get contacts in the US to bring or send it. Big question: Is it sold prescription only? Smiler: my cardio is surprised and diappointed that I'm not tip top. Why? because my EKG is normal.
Avatar f tn I do not feel hyperactive, except for my high heart rate and shortness of breath. I am still very cold, etc. I began taking cytomel 5MCG twice daily this Monday. I really hope someone has some advice. Thanks!
