cytomel

327369 tn?1326119908 Just for info, I noticed something in the medical info that came with the Cytomel. It stated that Cytomel has no known side effects. How many meds do you know that can say that?
1549937 tn?1300220335 With the pharmacist saying it would take me 3-4 days AFTER the last generic Cytomel NOT to have side effects any longer....gee, if it takes THAT long to stop having side effects - I guess you could feel something from it, no ?? Anyway, he says for me to go back to BOTH again, with only taking the generic Cytomel 5 mcg ONCE a day ...... Now - do I WAIT till I stop having ALL these sick feelings yet ??? My shoulders STILL bothers me and my stomach still gets in knots .
Avatar f tn Does anyone know if generic Cytomel is as good? My doctor told me never to get generic Synthroid. She does not know about the Cytomel.
Avatar n tn Is it dangerous. Does it have side effects. I am very worried because in addition, he child was also diagnosed with another autoimune disease from his father, HLAB, which cause his father AS, Grateful for any advise, Thank you This discussion is related to childrens hypothyroid.
Avatar n tn I tried it for a day or two but I could not tolerate the side effects, so stopped. I have had to wait 2 weeks to get an appointment with my Dr. I will see him tomorrow. Meanwhile I now have an ever increasing heart rate and other symptoms mentioned in your website. How do I explain all this to my Dr?
1549937 tn?1300220335 I asked him about putting me on it - as it is T3. He poo pooed it, but was willing to try it. I was on 5 mcg generic Cytomel for 2 days and had a lot of side effects....that was a Saturday and I stopped taking it and called the doc on Monday - he didn't return my phone call and I called in again - he happened to be the doctor ON CALL and I got him - he told me to take ONE 5 mcg per day instead. I split the pill in half and take half in am and half at night.
Avatar f tn Well, the initial surge of energy most experience with starting T3 is not necessarily a good thing. Its actually a medicine induced hyper state that wears off as the body adjusts and hopefully turns into an alert but calmness feeling. If the cytomel does not give you any negative side effects, maybe that's a sign that good side effects are on the way. Changing to natural, no matter what the brand takes a while to get used to, that period is not initially comfortable either.
Avatar f tn In addition to the medications, there are fillers or binders in the different preparations that cause some people problems. We are dealing with a lifelong condition, so side effects, etc. are not something you just put up with for a couple of weeks like when you take an antibiotic, for instance. Furthermore, we are all different and have different comfort levels of FT3, FT4 and TSH. So, adjusting meds to proper levels is time consuming and trying.
Avatar f tn I have taken Cytomel or a generic for a number of years without any identified issue with it. From what I have read Cytomel is the only med with no known side effects. The symptoms that people report when taking it are most likely due to inadequate levels of Free T4 and/or Free T3, low B12, low D, or low ferritin. And of course you are now aware of the need for cortisol levels to be optimal, in order to successfully take T3 meds.
Avatar f tn Diagnosed with hypo 1999 – had many side effects when trying to increase synthroid then levoxyl to get β€œin range.” Finally felt best being slightly hypo on 50 mcg brand levoxyl and 12.5 mcg. brand Cytomel taken each morning. Labs pretty stable until June 2010. My TSH went up to 7.75, had many uncomfortable symptoms. Made several adjustments to meds. Constant loud heartbeats waking me up at night, tightness and lump in my throat, and swelling of my neck under my chin.
Avatar f tn I thought that the generic cytomel was exactly as the brand cytomel. no difference what so ever. I thought I read this somewhere in these forums???? i am on the generic for 3 weeks now and I really feel no different. the doc gave me 25 mg of cytomel to add to my 75mcg of synthroid. advice from you guys, so I cut my synthroid in half and taking only 6 mcg of cytomel. but I have been taking 1/2 of cytomel in the morning and breaking the other half in two. so yeah that is 25 mg.
