cytomel

Avatar f tn 00 I take 12.5 mcg cytomel. I have been hypo for 15 years. Now that I am in perimenopause it seems to be out of control. I feel a little more energized now but my hair texture feels finer and maybe thinner.
Avatar n tn In Feb 2009 I was diagnosed by Dr. hypothyroid started cytomel after 2 months rechecked labs added synthroid. TSH was <0.1. 2 months later still no change--no med change. Went to Endocronologist and she ordered numerous labs. Thinks may be pituitary tumor. Symptoms are weight gain without being able to loose any, night sweats--recent hysterectomy, cold intolerance only during daytime. Occasional hair loss --not bad.
Avatar m tn On my neuropathy in my feet and legs, which became apparent when I started Cytomel, it is not so bad now since being off Cytomel for 3 weeks. My neurologist tests included an EMG (very painful electric shocks) which tested for large fiber nerve damage, it was normal. Also an MRI of my head, normal and 2 skin puncture leg biopsies for small fiber neuropathy, still waiting for results.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have many symptoms of hypothyroid but my thyroid levels are normal, so my physician prescribed low-dose (5mg) Cytomel in the hopes of alleviating my symptoms. Has anyone taken Cytomel (not the sustained-release form, just the regular instant-release form) for Wilson's Syndrome? If so, could you please share your story? Did Cytomel work? Did you try the sustained-released form of T3?
Avatar f tn i am 21 year old suffering form hypothyroidism i am too short and too weight for my height and i am putting weight very soon i need your help to cure this problem please help me out of this.
Avatar n tn I sent you a PM more specifically about RAI and thryogen, but yes. After my TT I was started on Cytomel only, in preparation for RAI. It's a weird drug but for the most part I did fine on it. It stays in your system for a matter of hours not days or weeks. And therefore it's the perfect drug pre-RAI.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have wondered that myself. I went to the doctor for PAC's and they did blood work and found out I was hypothyroid and I had no idea. I have been on the thyroid replacement pill for almost 2 years and I still get them from time to time and have other crazy symptoms. Sorry I wasn't much help...but, at least I moved you back up the top.
Avatar f tn I have been on Sythroid/Cytomel for one month now. I felt great for 2 weeks and the last 4 weeks were awful! I felt worse than ever. Gooloarra expressed that the Free T4 is low too. What do you suggest? More T3 and T4??? I want to get on dessicated, but I am waiting for a few months because I am moving out of state this month. Labs done on 12-5-09: Free T3 2.85 (2.77-5.27) Free T4 0.88 (.78-2.19) TSH 1.78 (.46-4.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism 5 years ago. I initially was just givin Cytomel for my T3 levels. After going to a different endocrinologist three years ago, she put me on synthroid for the first time. She went on extended leave and I was referred to another doctor. She ordered bloodwork to be done before she wrote me a new prescription and agreed I was hypothyroid as well. She since left, I was referred to yet again another doctor.
Avatar f tn I am at my witts end. Ive suffering from hypothyroid since 2006. Finally in 2009 I was sent to an endocrinologist. she put me on 200mcg of synthroid. I started feeling like myself and dropped the weight I had put on. This past August all my symptoms returned. Since August I have put on 12lbs. I continue to go to the gym and I have no appitited. But, the weight continues to increase. I talk to my Dr, but its as if Im talking to a brick wall.
Avatar n tn I am getting worse the longer I am self dosing with cytomel only (currently 2.5 mcg, 3xday). Is that a normal amount for cytomel or a small amount? I have an appt this week to go over my labs from last Thursday but feel like I will collapse before then. My doctor will not want to do labs for a month. Is it possible to do them after two weeks on Armour and see if it is working? I get scared as soon as I start feeling worse on a new medication.
903476 tn?1242237037 I receved a letter from my endocrinologist recently saying that he was switching me from desiccated thyroid to cytomel, I had only been on the desiccated thyroid for 6 months with what looked like normal thyroid levels.
Avatar f tn i take 200mcg of synthroid and i am still having hypothyroid symptom. fatigue, sleep 8+ hours and want to sleep more, weight gain, forgetfulness. this is causing my depression to get worse. i was sent to an endocrinologist, she lowered my dosage to 175. i tried to explain the returning symptoms. she stated she was going by my blood work only. my blood work shows hyperthyroid. she started giving me the spill about brittle bones, heart problems.
Avatar n tn This is kind of typical for a hypothyroid patient taking T4 med. The Free T3 lags Free T4 because of inadequate conversion of T4 to T3. The correct definition for hypothyroidism is "insufficient T3 effect in tissue throughout the body, due to inadequate supply of, or response to, thyroid hormone".
Avatar f tn This question I posted about the use of Cytomel breaking off my hair was for Hypothyroid not hyperthyroid. I had no symptoms of Hypo but was told I needed medication.
Avatar f tn My family doctor reluctantly agreed to let me start the Cytomel again. My psychiatrist started me on 25 mcg of Cytomel. I felt better for one day, and then everything went down hill. I started having night sweats, shaking, constantly sweating during the day, chills, some wheezing at night when laying down, and a productive cough. My temperature never went higher than 99.0 F.
Avatar n tn Graves Disease 1978 following by two RAI sessions, permanently hypothyroid. Took Synthyroid for 20+ years and have not felt well. Went on T3 3 years ago and did well but lately more hypo symptoms. Now will be taking 50 Cytomel and 1 grain of Armour to start out with. My systoms are hair loss, ear ringing, tired, not sleeping. Anyone tried T3 with Armour. I am praying this will work and reverse my symptoms.
Avatar f tn Im hypothyroid, last test has showed I have high RT3 so I switched from 130mcg synthroid and 1 grain armour TO 15 mcg Cytomel and 1 grain armour. I also did cortisol saliva test which shows im LOW in cortisol cortisol morning. 2.6 ng/ml. normal range. 3.7-9.5 >cortisol noon 2. ng/ml. normal range. 1.2-3.0 >cortisol evening. 1.1. normal range. 0.6-1.9 >cortisol night. 0.2. normal range. 0.4-1 the problem is I keep gaining weight, i have headaches, tired, feel like I have cold.
Avatar m tn The Synthroid was left the same at 100mcg. The blood levels I just posted have not changed since last time even though I had a dosage increase. I go through periods where I feel great right after the dosage increase & then gradually it dissipates to feeling crummy again until they increase again. I am very frustrated that I haven't reached that perfect dosage yet after a year of treatment. Your thoughts?
Avatar n tn Hello! I have been hypothyroid for a nr. of years, and was feeling ok, not great, on Levothyroxine. So this week, I asked my dr. if I could get on Armour. She said yes, and put me on 90mg of Armour, and also 5 mg of Cytomel. From reading around, I have not seen anybody else take this combination. Is anybody else taking this? Also, I have been having a headache ever since. When will this go away??
Avatar f tn You've been on straight Cytomel for 13 years? No T4 meds?
Avatar f tn I was only on the cytomel for 4 weeks. I started at 25mcg, then went to 12.5mcg, then 6.25mcg. I kept going lower because I was having hyper symptoms.
Avatar m tn I have had Hashimoto's for about 20 years. For the first five or six years I took synthroid only. After reading an article about Cytomel and speaking with my endocrinologist, he added Cytomel to my treatment. Recently he decided to reduce my Cytomel dosage by 1/2. Since that change, I have less energy and can't seem to stay awake. Could the lower dosage be the cause?
Avatar n tn Hello, I was diagnosed with Hashimotos hypothyroid and have been taking 100 synthriod and 25 cytomel for a few years now. I recently had a routine blood test that showed my tsh below .0075 and my t3 at 367. My t4 was in range at 10. My doctor had a lot of concern as I quickly jumped from hypothyroid to hyperthyroid. He mentioned something about coma at these high levels. He dropped my synthroid dose down to 75 and is retesting me in 4-6 weeks.
