cytomel

Avatar n tn also i am getting different information about whether cytomel can be taken with food, or on an empty stomach. also i am on yaz birth control, which i take several hours after my cytomel--is that ok? please help.
Avatar f tn What is food and supplements are safe to consume with Cytomel. I am actively trying to lose weight through diet and exercise and feel like I am fighting with a brick wall. Very defeating! I eat certain things or take different supplements, I get extreme reactions. Please advise. . .
1070570 tn?1283436213 have been told I have a conversion issue due to a high RT3 level in April (352)- don't convert T4 to T3 optimally, instead it converts to RT3 which cancels out the T3 that's trying to get into my cells. That's why I was wondering if increasing the synthroid was just gonna increase my RT3 and make me feel worse.
Avatar f tn I agree that you should not take calcium supplements, etc for 4 hours after taking thyroid med; however, I'm not convinced that a bit of milk in your morning coffee is going to mess things up much, if at all. Read the information sheet that came with your cytomel. Mine says it can be taken "with or without food". Levothyroxine, which is a T4 med, should be taken on an empty stomach at least an hour before eating; however, I don't believe that holds true for cytomel.
Avatar f tn Is Cytomel the same as Armour when it comes to taking it without food before and waiting an hour after you take it to eat anything? At the moment I'm treating it as if it were Armour.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know what the starch in Cytomel is made from? I called Pfizer but no one has called me back yet. I'm sensitive to corn and am trying to find out if it's corn starch.
Avatar f tn I thought that the generic cytomel was exactly as the brand cytomel. no difference what so ever. I thought I read this somewhere in these forums???? i am on the generic for 3 weeks now and I really feel no different. the doc gave me 25 mg of cytomel to add to my 75mcg of synthroid. advice from you guys, so I cut my synthroid in half and taking only 6 mcg of cytomel. but I have been taking 1/2 of cytomel in the morning and breaking the other half in two. so yeah that is 25 mg.
Avatar f tn I was recently put on Cytomel .5 added with my Synthroid 150mcg. I am having nausea in the evening with upset stomach. Could the Cytomel be causing this?
Avatar f tn Just got new script for Synthroid combined with Cytomel and my Endo wants me to take the Synthroid and half the dose of the Cytomel in the morning and the rest of the Cytomel in the evening. My question is if there is anyone who has a similar script, do you take the evening dose before bed or before dinner? Thanks.
Avatar f tn s fairly rare for somone to be on Cytomel only. Usually a small dose of Cytomel is added to the Synthroid, which may have to be reduced to accomodate the Cytomel. Cytomel (T3) is very fast-acting, so it has to be taken several times throughout the day if taken by itself. This leads to intra-day ups and downs in hormone levels. Do you have the results of your latest lab tests (FT3, FT4 and TSH) and their reference ranges?
1070570 tn?1283436213 Thank you laura for your quick response! It makes me feel good that someone would take the time to respond to me. I have been told I have a conversion issue due to a high RT3 level in April (352)- don't convert T4 to T3 optimally, instead it converts to RT3 which cancels out the T3 that's trying to get into my cells. That's why I was wondering if increasing the synthroid was just gonna increase my RT3 and make me feel worse.
Avatar f tn 025mcg cytomel. a few months ago I was feeling horrible again (hair falling out, dry skin, exhausted) and then started putting on weight. It turns out, my tsh levels are off the charts and T3 is too low to even measure. My doctor took me off the cytomel last week. I am a fitness and diet instructor and have put on four pounds this week. I have reduced my calorie intake to dangerous levels but I am still putting on weight. I am starting to lose my mind a little bit and need some help!
822804 tn?1298226302 My doctor prescribed cytomel 25mcg and lowered my synthroid to 125mcg...the cytomel is the generic brand, not sure if this will make a difference. How do you take the cytomel?morning, afternoon, evening and do you take it with food?
Avatar f tn what can I expect taking synthroid (75 mcg) and cytomel (25 mcg)? Should I take these meds at the same time? what amount of time should I allow before seeing a decline in hair loss, fatigue, feeling cold, dry skin?
Avatar f tn First day of taking generic Cytomel 5mg. Feeling tired after the second dose. Is this normal???
Avatar n tn 0 which is great but my Free T3 is still sitting at 227, I am on syn 50mcg and cytomel 7.5, doc started me on cytomel at 2.5 and doing small increaese monthly, but my Free T3 is not moving it has been between 200-227 everytime even on the cytomel?? Doc can't really explain it?? Can you?? He decided to switch me to armour today 1grain daily to see if my body responds to that?? He thinks everybodies body is different and responds to differnt things, so thinks we should just give it a try??
Avatar n tn Do you have the ranges on your FT3 and FT4? One thought: you might try taking your Cytomel a little later in the morning, after you've had some food. Cytomel doesn't have the absorption issues that T4 meds have, so you don't have to take it on an empty stomach.
Avatar f tn Then take cytomel three times a day. the synthroid is 75mcg and the cytomel is 5mcg 3 times a day which equals 15 mcg a day. My labs read TSH =1.33, T4,free =0.8 and T3,free =2.5 He said my numbers are at the low end. He changed me from Naturethroid to this. How do I combine these properly? I find it hard to take the 3 pills a day because of my work schedule. I read not to take cytomel at night because it interferes with sleep. Is this correct? Thanks for the help.
Avatar f tn I added cytomel. I was taking 150 synthroid and she put me on 137 synthroid and added 10mcg of cytomel (5 twice a day). Began to feel much better, started to lose some weight (while trying) and felt really good. Checked blood again and said my TSH was suppressed, lowered synthroid to 125, then a few months later lowered synthroid to 112 (current) and stayed with the 10 cytomel. Well, now feeling exhausted, gaining weight and cold all the time.
Avatar n tn I started at 125mcg of synthroid and had a low TSH level and I went to an endocrinoligist who changed my meds to 75 mcg synthroid and 5 mcg cytomel. I felt ok at this level and my TSH blood level was 1.2 and the T3 level was 1.8 which the doctor said was low. So, I am now on 1/2 of 125 mcg per day and 10mcg cytomel and I don't feel good...
1165078 tn?1338655745 Should my Doc be telling me to take the first dose of the day, of my Cytomel WITH my Levoxyl? Isn't that a contradiction to having to take the T4 med on an empty tummy with only water and then keep it empty for least an hour? (2-3 hrs for me since I have SUCH a slow metabolism)..
Avatar f tn I have been om 75ncg of cytomel for almost 2 months. No improvement. I have never before had a food allergy( lots of drug allergies tho!) But will be cutting down on gluten now.I am still not understanding how this could work so well for 14 yrs and then no good! Should the dr up my t3 somemore? I've been reading where too much t3 can mimic too little t3.my dr isn't an endo, bu she takes the time to figure stuff out.
Avatar f tn t have hyper symptoms? Would there be another reason for the high T3? Is it good judgement to prescribe cytomel with armour thyroid? I am not taking cytomel, but it was recommended by another physician in the past. Would taking iron supplements help absorption of T3. Thank you.
