Cytomel cost

Common Questions and Answers about Cytomel cost

cytomel

694885 tn?1232649948 I did sign up today for the WA state discount rx program and that will knock off about $10.00 of the cost. What thyroid medicine were you guys talking about that cost $10 month?
1369218 tn?1282423884 t done it yet due to the cost. I take 20 mcg daily of cytomel so my monthly cost for my meds including the synthroid is $130/mo. Eventually when I know for sure that my thyroid has completely lost all function, then maybe I will have the cytomel put into time release. For you, it might be worth a try so you dont have any ups and downs, and maybe less anxiety.
Avatar n tn There are several possibilities for you to consider to decrease your cost of meds. One is to use a generic T3, rather than Cytomel. Perhaps an even better one would be to switch to an NDT type like Armour Thyroid or Nature Throid. A grain (60 mg ) contains about 39 mcg of T4, and 9 mcg of T3. So, a switch to 3 grains would provide about 117 total mcg of T4 and 27 mcg of T3. That would also give you the increase you appear to need.
Avatar m tn Synthroid seems to be getting bad criticism by many users, is there anyone having positive results using Synthroid? Also Cytomel? or use both?
168348 tn?1379357075 Generics are just a name change only, from high cost brands name medicines to low cost brand name medicines. Just like all other products sold here in the US: Toilet paper, clothing, clothes soaps, and foods, etc., etc., etc. I buy a lot of generic products, which are made by brand name companies, with the same ingredients. Its the advertising of the "Brand Name" products that is where the high cost comes from.
1369218 tn?1282423884 But if you lack insurance it can cost up to $150 a month on the name brands. Luckily there is also a lower cost generic version of Cytomel. Erfa is a Canadian product that is not imported for sale here by continental retail US pharmacys. The Rx is faxed to a Canadian pharmacy, you pay all out of pocket from a credit card, and its shipped here. The plus side is it does seem to be the best dessicated available due to its fillers, and the cost is under $25 per month even after shipping charges.
1518372 tn?1291011648 I don't have a thyroid anymore.. my synthyroid script cost me about $220 a month w/o insurance.. y can't my Dr just prescribe me cytomel.. right after my surgery I was on 25mcg cytomel twice a day and have never felt so normal in my life with the clearity in my head, the energy I had, the motivation I had to do things, the ability to listen to my Bio rhythm and go to sleep at a decent hr and wake up at a decent hr but ever scence then I have never felt that and yearn for it..
Avatar n tn I too had a nodule that was benign and I too needed cytomel, but due to cost stopped taking. Amazing how similar we are. My doctor wanted the CT, because she said she has seen the thyroid gland grow in towards the esophagus on one patient and an ultrasound wouldn't show that, but the CT would.

798555 tn?1292787551 Where do you get ERFA from, which Canadian pharmacy and how much is the cost per month approx? Is the conversion about the same as Armour from Synthroid? I am considering this move soon...as I have been sticking it out with Tirosint/Cytomel but it just does not really seem to be working for me sadly.
Avatar f tn My free t3 and free t4 are in range but my tsh is suppressed because I am taking cytomel. I had to find a new doctor as all doctors freak out over the tsh level being low. This doctor I found agrees that my free t3 and free t4 are in range on my meds but still wants to decrease my dose because of tsh level but is willing to compromise a little and allow me to have a tsh of .4 (mine is currently .03). I don't know if this will work but I know at 1 I feel like crap.
Avatar f tn 30 am. Then nothing to eat or drink for at least 30 min - 1 hour. Then breakfast (both protein and fiber), go to work, etc. About 9:30 am, I take my 2nd dose of cytomel and BP med. I used to take Aciphex for GERD but have quit taking that due to cost (insurance won't cover). I found that I have bile reflux rather than acid and if I just lay off the coffee, and eat at regular intervals the reflux is much better.
Avatar f tn I think I need to have something like cytomel to add t3 to my meds. My question is....if i bought some of the otc pills, is it like cytomel or Armour? Would it hurt to take extra pills like that in addition to my levothyroxine? Should i ask my doctor? Why can you buy natural thyroid hormone products and yet need a prescription for others? I just dont want to do something stupid.
Avatar f tn I just know I am sick of feeling (and looking) lousy, and every doctor seems to interpret the results differently. One says I need combination therapy (synthroid and cytomel) another says cytomel is toxic and nobody should be on it. I am at a loss! Thanks again for your help!
393685 tn?1425812522 What is the comparable dosage requirement from taking Armour thyroid to a Cytomel/Synthroid dosage. If a person was on 1 grain of Armour - what's the equvilant of Cytomel/Synthroid? Does anyone know the bovine ratios - compared to porcine? Either I am missing finding these questions out - or I am just to busy lately with everything else...
Avatar f tn My surgeon took me off Synthroid the day of my surgery. He placed me on Cytomel. He told me that Cytomel is fast acting and leaves the body quickly. I will need to go off Cytomel two weeks prior to treatment vs. six weeks off the Synthroid. I have also read of a shot that is given. This shot eliminates the need of going off meds. I'm not sure what the shots are called, but maybe someone here knows.
1369218 tn?1282423884 My doc wants to switch me from Synthroid/Cytomel to armour. Is it any better yet? I know it was reformulated last year, but is it back? I still have hypo symtpoms including insomnia.
Avatar n tn I just switched from Synthroid/Cytomel for cost reasons and am now taking Armour 120 once in the morning which produced the following: TEST: RESULTS NORMAL RANGE Thyrotropin 0.011 uIU/mL 0.45 - 4.5 uIU/mL 03/24/2009 Thyroxine.free 1.1 ng/dL 0.61 - 1.76 ng/dL 03/24/2009 Triiodothyronine 314.
581310 tn?1253029550 I posted the other day on this site. I was switched from natur-throid to synthroid and also cytomel. I think I am on to high of a dose. He started me out taking .88 of synthroid with 5mcg of cytomel in the morning then .75 of synthroid and 5mcg of cytomel in the afternoon. I don't know why he split the doses. Since taking both these doses for the last couple days I have been nauseous, headache, sweating, dizzy.
1470552 tn?1300605907 Hi, I take 125 mcg Levo So I should drop it to 100 which I do have already. Dr. Never called me back today! Surprize, Surprize.
Avatar m tn Also she had me start taking a supplement (Thyro-CNV (k-9) , if I remember correctly some kind of T3 supplement. Would Cytomel possibly be more effective? I wonder if my levels are too low for my body.
Avatar n tn If not, why are you on T3-only med (Cytomel)? What were your labs a week ago before going on the Cytomel, and were you on any other meds then?
