Common Questions and Answers about Cytomel blood pressure

cytomel

Avatar n tn Hi I am having great difficulty at night after going off of 50 mcg (75mcg 2 x a day) of cytomel for 5 years. I was hospitalized because they thought i might have some aftereffects of the flu (which i also had) but they found nothing. Yet, every single night i have so much trouble breathing. it is as though my blood pressure is falling or that i can't get the pressure for my heart to continue on--so i get up all night long because i just feel so weak that I will expire if i fall asleep.
Avatar f tn Is the high blood pressure a side effect of too much T4? My hair loss has picked up again whereas it was finally starting to decrease in the last 3-4 weeks. Here are my numbers after 6 weeks of 100 mcg Synthoid and 1/2 Cytomel: TSH: 1.22 (0.35-5.5) FT4: 1.17 (0.8-1.9) FT3: 3.1 (2.3-4.2) My results at 88 mcg Synthroid and 1/2 Cytomel: Free T3: 2.7 (2.3-4.2) Free T4: 1.04 (0.8-1.9) TSH: 3.15 (0.35-5.
Avatar f tn I am thinking of increasing cytomel Currently I'm on 5 mg in am. I am adding 2.5 in afternoon before 3. How long does it take to feel better with an increase like this I think I have a conversion problem. Is there anything that helps with this? Also, how long for cytomel to leave your system?
Avatar n tn Hi, I was taking the phendimetrizine before with my syn, was working pretty well, with no heart rhythm problems, but I have just gotten cytomel added to my agenda on Friday and have not taken the phen since, because I was not sure, but in reference to the cytomel, does this have to be taken on empty stomach and does calcium affect, kinda like the syn--and can the syn and cytomel be taken at the same time, or should I take one in the am and one in the pm?? I am on 5mcg of cytomel and 0.
Avatar f tn I checked my blood pressure when I got out and it was 100 / 60 and pulse was 118. My husband wanted me to go to the ER but I wouldn't. A couple hours later it was 99/ 60-pulse 100. Two hours later it was 110/68-pulse 84. Before the surgery my blood pressure was about always 120/80 and pulse was in the low 70's. I don't know if it makes a difference but I also take Benadryl three times a day for hives. My endro is out of town till the 30th.
Avatar n tn I find the buzzing in ears interesting, I have the same thing on my left side, I asked the Doctor when they did my biospys last week, he said my blood pressure was a little high, for a person who has always had low blood pressure, that day I had a migrane, and it was 130/88 but has come down since, just wondering if anyone else has had the buzzing, ringing in ears and any neck pain.
6555161 tn?1382381862 So after finding out my FT3 was in the basement, I've slowly upped my dose of Cytomel, but it seems as if my hypo symptoms are getting worse-when I first started the quarter dose of 5mcg twice a day, I felt a lot of my aches and pains leaving, felt more energy, but it's been a month or so now, and it feels as if my hypo aches and pains and weakness are coming back full force, especially in my hips and legs. Plus major itchy dry skin.
Avatar f tn Wish I knew when I will respond to new regime. My symptoms are very low blood pressure, anxiety, depression, hair loss, unmotivated, irritable, headaches, lots of headaches. What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance.
Avatar f tn If the cell has a decreased ability to convert T4 into T3, cellular metabolism could be too low (low T3) despite the standard blood thyroid hormone tests being normal. Is there a reason doctors don’t prescribe Cytomel much to hypo patient? Would you prescribe Cytomel to your patients who want to try Cytomel to loose the extra fat and help speed up their metabolism? Even with normal blood tests? What the dose of Cytomel to start with?
Avatar n tn I have no symptoms of being hyperthyroid. My blood pressure is normal/low, heart rate fine, etc. I also had an ultra sound on my thyroid and it came back normal. However, my doctor retired and she had been my dr. and trusted friend for 23 years. Trying to find new doc. First doctor said I was hyper, second doctor said I wasn't hyper, third doctor said I wasn't hyper, my ent said something is suppressed (which I guess means hyper???
363243 tn?1331033850 I agree with Stella. You were on the right track. My blood pressure on Levoxyl (synthetic T4) was elevated that first month (128/78) and I had terrible pressure in my ears and pins & needles all over my body (parathesia) My TSH after one month of Levoxyl came back @ 1.4 (started at 7.56) I stopped the Levoxyl because of the side effects it had (for me) I started Armour natural dessicated thryoid and within 3 days the side effects from the Levoxyl were gone.
Avatar f tn Though my tsh is low my body temperature is 97.4. Resting heart rate is 58. Average heart rate while walking around is 80. Blood pressure is 110/72. I'm vegan so my cholesterol is 160, never had problems with cholesterol or blood sugar. I can not get a doctor to prescribe based on how I feel they just keep looking at the tsh level. My psychiatrist is prescribing it because I begged her as no endo would listen and she is cool. I am on 25 mcg cytomel and 75 mcg levothyroxine.
Avatar m tn My doctor put me on 50 mcg of cytomel and 50mcg synthroid. Then, recently I had my blood work done and results were TSH .05 and Free T4 -.44. My doctor took me off the cytomel today. He seemed confused with my blood work considering I've always been hypo. Could this indicate too much meds or pituitary glad problem. I seem to have brain fog, extremely tired,(at times- my speech is slurred. And I have osteoporosis. I've gained weight, and so tired.
Avatar f tn At first I was alternating between 50 and 75 but now I increased it to 75 and my blood pressure is high and I am starting to have insomnia. I am not scheduled for blood tests until the end of this month. I need your opinion, should I just stay on the 50 and 75 alternating until I get my blood tests? I wish that there was an at home test for thyroid like they have for blood glucose !!!!! It would be nice to check to see what my levels are when I feel like this.
Avatar n tn t sleep, then aversions to exercise (muscles slightly tremor - notice at night), then migraines and positional vertigo during heat (summer) and exercise, then heart tightness/intense beating, blood pressure all over the place...lowering synthroid to 150 mcg every day....then muscle pains, cramps, twitching, brain jumping from 1 thing to another...no focus....
Avatar f tn t done well on Levothyroxine. For the previous 8 months I was taking generic 137 mcg. I developed high blood pressure and insomnia with the occasional anxiety. Two months ago I started taking Tirosint at a lower dose 112. Blood pressure better but recently have been prone to extreme panic attacks. They have gotten so bad I have developed agraphobia. I recently had T4 & T3 checked but are at a normal level. Is there anything else I can do?
Avatar f tn 00 am -- cytomel; 12:00 -- blood pressure med, calcium, selenium, Vit C; 6:00 pm -- calcium, magnesium, Vit C. Bed time is around 7:00-7:30 pm......... Everyone will react to the med differently, and you will have to figure out a schedule that works best for YOU. Be sure to read the insert that comes with the med because that will tell you whether or not you can take it with food, vitamins, etc.
