30 and eat breakfast at 7:00. I talked to the pharmacist and she said I can take the cytomel whenever. With breakfast I take all my vitamins Multi, calicum, mag,. probiotic, vit. d, and cranberry. Can I take both at 5:30 in the morning? Or should I wait until after breakfast. I decided to only start with one a day and see how I do. I am afraid of getting to much. Thanks.

I too have bee suffering horribly since the return of Levoxyl it was my perfect T4 med while I also added Cytomel and felt great for 9 years. But the recall left me chasing another T4 med and I haven't been the same since. They have obviously added more fillets and I'm reacting to the fillets they put in it. I remember the good days when it' was slightly chalky and dissolved quickly on my tongue if I used water but today it's coated really well and really hard to break.

dosage were you on when you tried cytomel before? What dosage of cytomel and how did you take it - all at once or multiple times/day?

My TSH is very low, however my Free T3 and Free T $ are still on the very low end of normal. I feel like crap, but want to raise my Levoxyl and keep my Cytomel at the dose I'm at. Doc says NO, as A Fib is too real a possibility. I have read that that is mostly a concern with elevated Free T3, Free T4 with suppression therapy. Any thoughts? I currently am on 75 mcg of Levoxyl and 7 mcg of Cytomel. Still feeling yucky. Am planning on a new doctor. I am 57.

I still knew not to take the full 25mg of cytomel after the last weeks experience so I began taking 100mcg levoxyl and 1/4 of a 25mg cytomel pill (I cut it 4 ways) once a day for a week then went up to a half pill a day for a week and so on till I got to 25mg of CYTOMEL safely. I took this dose (25mg cytomel and 100mcg of levoxyl) for about a month and felt much better.. Joint pain was gone, fibroid cysts stop rupturing, hair and nails were growing and I definately had energy.

Your thyroid levels were fine and if you added the cytomel to the 100mcg of levoxyl, the TSH will likely be too low (ie, too much medication) and if you stay on cytomel, the levoxyl dose would need to be changed most likely. The weight gain is not likely due to thyroid.

s not producing enough thyroid, t4, which im assuming is the case due to why the doctors put you on the levoxyl and cytomel in the first place. i would think you would over a period of a few weeks begin to slide into a hypothyroid state. and start experiencing the symptoms of hypothyroidism. such as . fatigue muscle aches, pains, joint pain, brain fog . eyes puffiness, possible hair falling out, anxiety, and on and on. if you think its too much get retested.

Thanks Char4317 the endo sent Cytomel to my pharmacy and will begin taking cytomel as well as Levoxyl. I feel this will do the trick. Taking the cytomel will bump up my T3 and T4 levels and hopefully allow me to feel better with more energy? Thanks for all your advice. FTB4, if I were you, I would try Levoxyl. I didnt have all the horrible side effects I had on Synthroid. Thanks!

So, out of network, I saw a doctor willing to work with supplements and hormones and returned to a combo of Levoxyl/Cytomel, will bring in Selenium, some B12 and an Adrenal Support. Also recommended was a very small amount of liquid Iodine 1-2 x a week. Here are the past two labs and the medication doses I was on. Since the change to Tirosent and the increase to 30 mcg Cytomel, I am more tired. And can't seem drop an ounce of weight, despite a really strict diet.

*Please keep in mind that I was previously taking Synthroid 100MCG and was feeling really bad and switched to Levoxyl and have been on Levoxyl the past three months. Within the past three months I have gained 15 lbs! I still run 3 miles everyday, just a bit more hungry. I am thinking what is best for this solution would be to lower my Levoxyl and keep me on cytomel? Thoughts?

Hi everyone - I haven't posted in quite a while but hope you all may have some thoughts/input. Diagnosed Hashi about 10 years ago so have been on Levoxyl all that time, January this year had thyroid removed - have been on calcium and calcitriol b/c of this. Anyway, 3 months ago I convinced my Endo. to also add Cytomel and she agreed - we started with half a dose (12) once per day and then continue with same dose of Levoxyl (137).

I personally think 50mcg of Synthroid and 10 whatever of Cytomel is a very odd mix, and too heavy on the Cytomel. You know your past history of blood levels much better than I, and maybe you need a lot of T3. I'm just trying to visualize the whole med reduction process. Your TSH drops, so the doctor lowers your dose. Your TSH drops, so your dose is lowered again. Hopefully T4/T3 tests were run somewhere along the way. You get down to 75mcg, and the doctor decides to add Cytomel...why?

I have been fine on a regime of 5 day 75 mcg Levoxyl/2 day 88 mcg Levoxyl and 7 day 25 mcg Cytomel (split during the day). Stress, anxiety, depression notwithstanding, I felt exhausted, and upped my dosage to 88 Mcg Levoxyl /25 mcg Cytomel daily, 7 days. Should my Doc be telling me to take the first dose of the day, of my Cytomel WITH my Levoxyl? Isn't that a contradiction to having to take the T4 med on an empty tummy with only water and then keep it empty for least an hour? (2-3 hrs for me since I have SUCH a slow metabolism)..

I am experiencing hair loss and thinning. Could T4/T3 help me? Is Levoxyl the same as Synthroid? Is there really anything that can help hair to grow back? I am an 80 year old woman, in excellent health aside from the loss of T4.

9, I was then put on 300 mcg of Levoxyl and tested at 25, then I was put on 350 mcg of Levoxyl and 25 mcg of Cytomel and tested at .003. I am currently on 325 mcg of Levoxyl and 12.5 mcg of Cytomel. My question is after two years of constant medication should my TSH level be so hard to get under control?

It seemed my ammune system dropped and I became sick with the flu and pneumonia off and on for a year on Cytomel, had to sleep at a slant because it felt like I was drowning? Last summer, took me off Cytomel and just stayed at Levoxyl 75 and kept eye on labs. I recently had a spike in TSH, doctor raised Levoxyl to 100 again, wow! I currently take 5 mcg of Cytomel and .88 mg of Levoxyl. After doing research I sought out a Dr. in my community that prescribed Cytomel. That little bit does make a difference for me. I have never felt like I did before Hashimoto's in many respects, but I personally feel that Cytomel helped my energy level much more than the traditional sole replacement therapy!

As you all know I have been struggling to get regulated. I am up to 3/4 of my levoxyl and I can feel my body healing. My light sensitivity was much better today. Ok my question is could my need of cytomel been due to the fact that I was undermedicated for so long? I've been taking 15-20 mcg of cytomel. We could see that my FT3 was converting fine so we thought lets try a lower dose and T4 only. Well 200 mcg Levoxyl it way to much and my Doctor and myself are thinking that I did really good on Armour at 4 Grain that maybe we should go back to this. But Im questioning if maybe since the only thing making me feel bad is to much lovexyl putting strain on the adrenals again (levels a little high) should I continue it at 100 mcg or try to go off all together.

I told her I want to be back in the mid to upper range and so she kept me at 112 mcg Levoxyl and reduced my Cytomel to 10mcg 2x daily. Does that sound right to everyone? 76-181 T3,Total 82 Out of pocket Endo upped the Cytomel (t3) and reduced the Levoxyl one day a week, the tsh has dropped even lower. Should I reduce my t4 by another day, making it a total of 75 mcg, 5 x weekly? I am so confused, and hmo Dr. ignores everything-the same doctor that prescribed the weirdness of last post, that I refused to take. Please help.
