cytomel and high blood pressure

When I was hyper, I was taking 75 mcg of synthroid and a full cytomel. My T3s were really high so he cut the cytomel by half first and then every 6 weeks increased the synthroid (75, 88, 100) to get my T3 and T4 in the range.

I just wanted to add something. I have just realized that it was the abuterol? or one of the other inhalants that was causing me to feel that my blood pressure was dropping. I haven't taken it for 2 nights now and i can't tell you how much better i feel. I have been able to sleep and i don't have the feeling that my blood pressure is dropping to an undesirable level.

The bone density has actually gotten a little better and through blood tests and EKG and a stress test, my heart has been just fine. But my primary doc is always worried because she's out of her depth, though she reads the articles from medical journals I give her so she knows what I'm trying to do, and she's seen the benefit in my general labs. t done well on Levothyroxine. For the previous 8 months I was taking generic 137 mcg. I developed high blood pressure and insomnia with the occasional anxiety. Two months ago I started taking Tirosint at a lower dose 112. Blood pressure better but recently have been prone to extreme panic attacks. They have gotten so bad I have developed agraphobia. I recently had T4 & T3 checked but are at a normal level. Is there anything else I can do?

Would 180 mg be the suggested lowering dosage and then get another blood test? What would you suggest for synthroid/cytomel dosage to start. I tried synthroid in between my armour thyroid and ended up having menstrual bleeding (which I haven't had in quite some time after oblation proceedure ) and having a D&C. I don't know if synthroid caused this and I wasn't on the right dosage or if it was just a coincidence. I am 57 years old.

Hi, I was taking the phendimetrizine before with my syn, was working pretty well, with no heart rhythm problems, but I have just gotten cytomel added to my agenda on Friday and have not taken the phen since, because I was not sure, but in reference to the cytomel, does this have to be taken on empty stomach and does calcium affect, kinda like the syn--and can the syn and cytomel be taken at the same time, or should I take one in the am and one in the pm?? I am on 5mcg of cytomel and 0.

( All other test like Liver Functions, Urea, Rheumatoid factors, blood counts, white ,red cells and platelets are normal) I have to wait till March to see him. I'm worried sick . I wonder why you are only on Cytomel and not a T4 drug as well. I would suggest you go to an endo and get on the right combination of drugs so you can feel better. Get your TGab and TPOab tests for Hashimoto's. I have Hashimoto's. I get the chronic sinus infections, simply because my immunity is lower due to my disease. I take Flonase and Zyrtec. That has helped tremendously.

Armour 30 MCG in the the morning, and Cytomel 5 MCG at lunch. Does this make sense? My brain fog improved significantly, but I am still tired as hell. well I had all of those on the list except for the joint pain, swelling around eyes, enlarged tongue, high blood pressure, and infertility/miscarriage (I've never been pregnant). I just had a more complete blood test and my thyroglobulin antibodies were high while the other antibodies were normal. Otherwise everything was normal except my free t4 was at the very bottom of the range. If I only have the high thyroglobulin antibodies do I still have hashimoto's? Or is there a possibility that the cytomel cause those antibodies to be high and otherwise I would not have a problem?

I take Benazepril for my blood pressure and am on a combination of levothyroxin (T4 med) and cytomel (T3 med) for the hypothyroidism. I take my levo first thing in the morning (which for me is 3:30 am), then I take the cytomel about 7:00 am to help me get through the day. I take my blood pressure med at the same time I take my cytomel, but benazepril is not a beta blocker, it's an ACE inhibitor. T4 and T3 meds are NOT the same thing.

At first I was alternating between 50 and 75 but now I increased it to 75 and my blood pressure is high and I am starting to have insomnia. I am not scheduled for blood tests until the end of this month. I need your opinion, should I just stay on the 50 and 75 alternating until I get my blood tests? I find the buzzing in ears interesting, I have the same thing on my left side, I asked the Doctor when they did my biospys last week, he said my blood pressure was a little high, for a person who has always had low blood pressure, that day I had a migrane, and it was 130/88 but has come down since, just wondering if anyone else has had the buzzing, ringing in ears and any neck pain.

My Dr only prescribes name brand BC generic is allowed to be +- 20% of the actual does.. I was dx with t4 resistance BC my cholesterol was to high with being so active and my does as high as it is.. I haven't been to the Dr in almost a yr and can't afford my $350 a pop Dr and $50 a pop blood test.. I've been unemployed for the past 10 months.. I can't find my last lab work either.. Y is it customary anyway? Who cares which I take as ling as I'm healthy a feeling right?

Free T3 levels must be checked regularly, along with TSH and Free T4, when taking cytomel. Cytomel is usually not recommended unless you have a conversion problem or for some other reason, your Free T3 is out of line. In addition, you should constantly be aware of any symptoms that might indicate that you are taking too much. Oldie - I, too, have heard that cytomel should not be used by persons with heart issues.

As to the high blood pressure, again, you could be swinging toward hyperthyroid. Do you check your blood pressure between doctor visits? If so, is it high "every" time you check it? I have a blood pressure machine at home, and most of the time, my bp is okay, but invariably, when I go to the doctor it's high -- "white coat syndrome".

Thanks for your response! As people discuss Cytomel and the Frees in blood work, they state that the Free T3 and Free T4 be in the upper quartile. What is your thought on the Free's?

The rest is between you and your doctor. Are your T4 and T3 results, Free or Total? Total T3 and Total T4 are considered obsolete and not very valuable, but I know that's usually what's tested in U.K.
