Cytomel and fatigue

Common Questions and Answers about Cytomel and fatigue

cytomel

Avatar f tn Good questions. It makes sense that if I weren't taking meds I would go back to being hypo. My most recent symptoms (why I moved my endo appt up a couple of weeks prior to my regularly scheduled follow up) were fatigue, disorientation, nauseau, panic attacks, feeling like I could't get enough air or feeling a bit faint, a bit jittery. Noticed slight shaking when I write.
Avatar f tn hair loss, fatigue and body aches. Increased Synthroid to 88mcg and it helped, but the hair loss continued and after a couple of months I started getting episodes of fast heart beat (about 88 bpm.) This may not seem that fast, but my normal HR is in the 50s. Went to doc & my labs looked better than they ever have...TSH suppressed, FT4 mid-range, and FT3 also mid-range (this ideally should be a bit higher, but it was better than any previous lab.
Avatar f tn I discontinued Cytomel and began the low-iodine diet 2 days ago in preparation for radio-iodine. Those who have been through this, do you feel tired, or totally incapacitated? Are you able to work and take care of children, or is it difficult to accomplish anything?
252327 tn?1250183976 So then he gave me the cytomel, so far I feel much better especially with the brain fog and fatigue, I still work full time so I still need my energy. My results are ( this is the day he gave me cytomel) Ft4 1.31 range 0.61-1.76 t3 uptake 34 range 24-39 antithyroidgrobulin 39 range 0-40 FT3 1.8 range 2.3-4.2 LOW tsh 0.460 range 0.450-4.
Avatar f tn I slept well and had great mood and energy. Starting last weekend, my mood started to dip and for two nights this past week, I've experienced some insomnia, where I'll be awake for a couple of hours in the night before I can get back to sleep (although I fall right asleep when I turn off the light).
556500 tn?1222338630 when i started the cytomel it seem to help immediately in the beginning. this pasr week i have fatigue cold intolerance and joint and back pain and also fluttering heart once in a while (not palpitations last 20 secs or so) is it the meds? or how long will this fatigue last? i am so dragged out tired lately i cant do much. will the cytomel kick in? previous post with lab results http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Thyroid-Disorders/new-to-cytomel-palpitations/show/1226437?
Avatar f tn I had a thyrodectemy in April 2016. I was still having symptoms but not gaining weight. My Dr. decided to add cytomel, which I am excited about. So my Dr. lowered my synthroid to 125 mg 6x's a week and 5 mg of cytomel 4x's a week. I am also taking calcium twice a day at 600mg and 40,000 IU once a week with calcitrol twice a day as well. At first I was getting anxiety as a result of taking cytomel, but everytime I took my calcitrol I became so tired. My Dr.
Avatar m tn Also extreme fatigue and apathy, I've been diagnosed with bipolar depression and Sjogren's syndrome so fatigue can also come from these.Weakness too. Cytomel .25mng. added to antidepressant but then thyroid levels low so dose. I'm not taking anything else for T4.
Avatar f tn When I was first tested in late 2005 my doctor said it was hypothyrodism. She put me on 25 mcg of cytomel and 3months later had blood work and it was still low. She then put me on the 50 of cytomel. I want to say that back then my TSH was testing normal by my FreeT4 was low. Since I've been on the 50mcg i have been tested yearly. I went to my doctor because i was just feeling horrible constantly.
327369 tn?1326119908 I have found Cytomel helpful. I'm still adjusting it, but right now I take 10mcg in the morning and 10 mcg in the afternoon. I find I have more energy. I take the generic and wonder about that though. Still working on it.
Avatar f tn I wonder why you are only on Cytomel and not a T4 drug as well. I would suggest you go to an endo and get on the right combination of drugs so you can feel better. Get your TGab and TPOab tests for Hashimoto's. I have Hashimoto's. I get the chronic sinus infections, simply because my immunity is lower due to my disease. I take Flonase and Zyrtec. That has helped tremendously.
Avatar f tn That said, I have been reading a lot about adrenal fatigue and have many of the symptoms involved and wondered if anyone who was deemed in "normal" range still had the same symptoms of hypothyroid (Hashi's) - and ended up with adrenal fatigue .....experiences, tests for, treatment. I am not sure what to do next if the Cytomel doesn't help.
Avatar n tn So I tried the generic version ( which is only available in my country) of levothyroxine ( eltroxin). On the fist day brain fog and fatigue were lifted but later on brain fog and fatigue became more severe. Anyway I have ordered cytomel and I am waiting for its arrival. I dont know whether synthroid can make you more fatigue . But you can try taking cytomel alone for a while for a change. Its only a suggestion.
Avatar f tn After doiing a bit of reading I came across info about Adrenal Fatigue and it seems the symptoms seem quite similar to underactive thryoid... Since I still seem to have alot of symptoms and I am also a Celiac I am thinking I should question my specialist about whether I actually have adrenal fatigue instead??
Avatar m tn I was taking an adrenal formula (with glandular adrenals and vitamins) and another adrenal support with different vitamins and supplements. I used to get my thyroid medication compounded. A combination between t3 and t4. It was pretty much like armour or ERFA. All was going okay i guess, never noticed a change either way really. The brain fog and always tired was getting better as I was on a candida diet (no gluten, dairy, yeast, sugar).
Avatar m tn I am taking propafenone 150 twice/day for heart arrythmias. You warned me off Cytomel becasue of this and my age, 81.. Now I find several researcher or doctor opinions that i I could take it at minimal dose and constant blood tests. All levels have been within the range for eight months now but with T4 at the high end and FT3 and T3 at the low end. How about 5 Cyto and reducing levo by 20??? I'll try anything to get out of ten intermittent days a month sick.
Avatar f tn I have brain fog, memory issues, depression, fatigue and at times insomnia. I am getting very frustrated. My Endo has not even checked my T3 levels. I have done lots of research and am reading alot about Cytomel. I need to find an Endo in NJ, who for one will check my T3 levels but also prescribe me Cytomel at least on a trial basis and see if my symptoms improve.
4065534 tn?1400548736 Finally found a good doctor who found that I have RT3 issues and he lowered my Armour and gave my Cytomel, 5mcg. I felt so much better for about 5-8 days, then I felt like crap again. So I was raised to 10mcg of Cytomel, and now right after I take it I need to go to bed. It's like I popped a sleeping pill. What gives?! I was soo excited to finally start living again and feel better! Is this just a normal increase issue that sorts itself out?
Avatar m tn Taking 200 Synthroid had 25 recently added. Now based on TSH 5.190 and T3 3.8 adding Cytomel 5mcg twice a day. Have 3 nodules on thyroid 8mm, 10mm, 11mm. Question 1: at what size is a nodule biopsy performed? Question 2: Is this the correct time to be adding Cytomel?
Avatar n tn Thx for replying:) I don't have them off hand but I'm not resistant and I don't have any food sensitivities so I'm just wondering why the cytomel makes me so sleepy and sick and the SR. T3 doesn't.
Avatar n tn 5 cytomel. I never felt better in my life! I was on 125 levothyroxine and 12.5 cytomel to clarify. My doctor said I would not lose weight due to the cytomel. I don't know if it was the cyt or just me feeling better with no more fatigue that made me lose weight. I dropped 25lbs. Two months ago found out I was pregnant and was taken off the cytomel and my levothyroxine was raised to 150. I miscarried a week later. My thyroid levels got so messed up because of the all the hormonal changes.
Avatar n tn I called and asked to add cytomel because I was still having alot of fatigue. they called it in.
Avatar n tn my endo lowered me to 50 mcg levo, and added 10 mcg cytomel. I was later dropped to 5 mcg cytomel and my levo was upped to 75 mcg. I am currently alternating 75 mcg with 88 mcg levo and still on the 5 mcg cytomel. I've read that synthroid/levo should be lowered by about 25 mcg for each 5 mcg cytomel added. So your synthroid was not lowered nearly enough to add 25 mcg cytomel. Are you taking the whole 25 mcg cytomel at one time or splitting it throughout the day?
988694 tn?1332359479 Does anybody know a T3 only medicine without fillers? I was added Cytomel and my NT was reduced to 2 grains due to RT3. So far feeling awful, but I am more concern, despite all the pain and discomfort I am in, about Cytomel causing me allergies. My nose is itching and I have been sneezing. I had a similar episode a couple of years ago and I quit it. I cannot do compound pharmacy since I have to travel and it is too much trouble. Any idea about an existent hypoallergenic T3 only medicine?
Avatar n tn m in the normal range. Doctor just put me on Cytomel for insomnia and fatigue. For several days I felt awesome for the first time in years but am but I am starting to feel even more awful then I first did. Could the Cytomel dosage be too high? Has anyone ever experienced this. I'm almost tempted to start cutting my pills in half to try to see if a lower dose helps like it started to.
