cytomel

1070570 tn?1283436213 When I found this Forum and learned about the importance of FT3 and found mine to be in the lower third of the range, I persuaded my doctor to switch me to Armour. That was working great until Armour was no longer available. I switched to Synthroid and Cytomel and after some dosage adjustments, I am now on 150 Synthroid and 12.5 mcg of Cytomel, with the Cytomel split into two doses, in a.m. and late afternoon.
Avatar n tn And Is it possible to just add Cytomel in while taking the Armour. I am on 120mg now of Armour and have no side effects. I have taken as much as 240mg and still not side effects. Can you suggest what to do?
Avatar n tn 30am and 30mg Armour and 5 McG Cytomel again at 3pm. I feel great, much better than when they had me on just 30mg Armour once a day.
Avatar m tn Has anyone lost weight on Tirosint and cytomel? Feel less tired. Is it ok to ask her to place me on Armour with cytomel in the afternoons to bump up my t3?
744962 tn?1270942038 I dont think taking thyroxin with Armour is wise as the Armour already has a T4 med in it and you are taking T4 as well (thyroxin). Is there any reason for this? Usually you are one or the other. All you are doing by taking thyroxin is to 'boost' the Armour. And that in itself would cause symptoms as it could elevate your FT4 which then converts to T3...hence the tremors..
2033435 tn?1329943508 ve been taking my meds incorrectly for the last 2 months. Ugh! He had changed my meds in June 7 as I was taking before - Armour in the morning and 1 Cytomel 5 mcg in the afternoon - and my RT3 sky rocketed to 442 (range was up to 350). Was supposed to be taking 2 Cytomel pills in the morning and 2 after lunch... But I took half of that instead :( Only 1 in the morning and 1 in afternoon. Ugh! I guess that's why my labs came all low: TSH: 0.952 (0.270-4.200) Free T4: 0.60 (0.83-1.
Avatar n tn I have taken taken thyroid medication for 25 years and have been on 1.75 grains of Armour thyroid for a number of years. Recently it's effectiveness for me declined. According to my Allergist and lab results (a high Antithyroglobulin Ab and my nutritionist, but negative Thyroid Peroxidase Ab; TSH 0.9), I could be producing antibodies to the natural thyroid so he suggested a switch to Synthroid and Cytomel. At the time I was also showing some signs of too much thyroid medication.
Avatar n tn Lugols is Iodine maybe you should try Iodoral they have 12.5 that is probably less the Logols. Best thing to do is test your skin for Iodine absorbtion. I have never taken Cytomel only Armour so I can't say much about Cytomel. could be a gland issue.
Avatar f tn I take 30mg Armour and 5 mcg Cytomel in the morning at 6:30am  and 30mg Armour and 5 McG Cytomel again at 3pm. I feel great, much better than when they had me on just 30mg Armour once a day.
Avatar f tn I just changed from synthroid and cytomel to Armour at my insistance because my tsh was .35 and still I have symptoms. I have been on Armour a week and can not tell much difference. I feel like I am doomed to always feel this way!
Avatar f tn I take 30mg Armour and 5 mcg Cytomel in the morning at 6:30am  and 30mg Armour and 5 McG Cytomel again at 3pm. I feel great, much better than when they had me on just 30mg Armour once a day.
Avatar f tn I am 28 yo female, I had my thyroid removed 10 years ago due to non cancerous nodules growing on it. I've been on synthroid since I was 11 yo. Everything was fine until I went off birth control pills. All of a sudden I had a hard time tolerating my 137 mcg dose of synthroid. I switched to armour thyroid, but couldn't tolerate any more than 60 mg. I felt great on just 60 mg, however my TSH shot up from 1 to almost 8.
4065534 tn?1400548736 I know gimel has more experience with RT3 issues than others, but from just your labs it looks like you still need more T4 and T3. Perhaps a raise in Armour coupled with the current Cytomel dose would do it for you?
744962 tn?1270942038 Greetings to all I am hypo then was put onto 100mg Thyroxin per day and later also 125mg of Armour - months I told the dr Armour is not working for me - my legs and abdominal area is swollen and feels as if I am retaining a lot of water. Later dosage was dropped to 40mg of Armour and 50 Thyroxin - I felts awful for a long time. Armour was removed in July and then I was on 50mg of Thyroxin and 20mg of Cytomel for T3. Slowly started feeling a bit better yet still tired.
793305 tn?1493925518 in a few weeks, plus my current script for Armour ran out. I saw my endo again and he told me they are no longer making Armour Thyroid and that I needed to switch to Synthroid and he also placed me on Cytomel. right away I felt great that 5% that I ddi not achieve with Armour has now been replenished, but with other major side effects...Heart racing, feeling light headed, hair falling out...the good part is I stopped gaining weight. My tests came back and I am now in Hyperthyroidism.
Avatar n tn You have to have the proper ratio of both or you will still remain and feel ill. So, you need T4 and T3 meds both. I switched from armour to synthroid and cytomel. And then had to do teh labs every 6 weeks to make sure I was on correct dosage. Cytomel is very potent. I was on 120mgs of armour. I am now up to 100 mcg synthroid and 15 mcg cytomel.
393685 tn?1425812522 Its weird, Cytomel gave me never ending headaches, but Armour and this generic equivilant I found called Major Thyroid does not give me any headaches! I cant wait for our Nature-Throid to get cought up, as I have lost trust in the Armour brand. What I found on Bovine: In the US it seems bovine is only in non prescription, non- FDA regulated thyroid support 'supplements' that I found available on the internet.
Avatar f tn Im hypothyroid, last test has showed I have high RT3 so I switched from 130mcg synthroid and 1 grain armour TO 15 mcg Cytomel and 1 grain armour. I also did cortisol saliva test which shows im LOW in cortisol cortisol morning. 2.6 ng/ml. normal range. 3.7-9.5 >cortisol noon 2. ng/ml. normal range. 1.2-3.0 >cortisol evening. 1.1. normal range. 0.6-1.9 >cortisol night. 0.2. normal range. 0.4-1 the problem is I keep gaining weight, i have headaches, tired, feel like I have cold.
Avatar f tn 05MG one in the AM as a back up ( in case I cant get my Armour RX filled ) Is it OK to switch from Armour to the cytomel/levothyroxine and is the dosage equivalent ? I notice when I take my Armour, I feel very hot/warm and somewhat irritable afterwards for a few hours. Is that a normal side effect? I have an enlarged pituitary and enlarged pituitary stalk , which is monitored by MRI yearly.
Avatar n tn 30am  and 30mg Armour and 5 McG Cytomel again at 3pm. I feel great, much better than when they had me on just 30mg Armour once a day.

822804 tn?1298226302 I convinced my dr to add cytomel w/Synthroid 88mcg. He ordered 25mcg of Cytomel and I knew it was too much at once so I cut it in half and had only 12.5mcg in am & 12.5mcg at 2pm. I had been on the 88mcg for a long time and I just wanted to see if I increased by 44mcg (cutting an 88mcg in half) and adding it to the 88mcg (total of 132mcg) and I can't even believe how much better I feel. It took a long time for me to add the second dose of cytomel though.
Avatar n tn Roughly - and this is just roughly - 90mgs conversion would be about a .112 Synthroid with a .5 Cytomel. Keep in mind that switching over - especially at the beginning could put you at a higher T4 level but should deplete and convert as time goes by IF you are NOT having any problems. Are you switching because of your weight? Looking at your TSH (2.73) - most patients on either Synthroid or Armour would not be well - and gaining weight will be an issue regardless.

Avatar f tn I know I'm impatient. I'm wanting an honest opinion. I've had adrenal issues and hoped changing from Armour (due to issues of it not working right) to NP Thyroid would help. I changed to NP Thyroid. My dose starting was 25 mg generic cytomel and 30 mg of armour. I know I'm just a week and a half into change but I'm sick. I don't get that feeling of wellness from the T3. Now I know it takes longer with natural thyroid but can anyone help me.
Avatar f tn Well I started not feeling good a few years back and have just started seeing a new doctor who thinks it has to do with the re formulation of Armour. So he added cytomel 5mcg to my daily Armour medication and I started to feel better. We retested my levels and they were still In middle of the range and the doctor decided to add 5 mcg more of the cytomel. Well now my blood work is showing a .5 tsh (lab normal is .350-4.500) but my t4 free is .64 (.80-1.80)and my free t3 is 2.9(2.3-4.2).
Avatar f tn OH my! 150mcg levoxl and 50 mcg cytomel is a lot higher dose medicine than the equivilant of 120 Armour, no wonder your having more palps! Not only that, but the cytomel to levoxyl ratio is higher than most, seems to me you need less cytomel. This is a rough estimate I have been on both types of meds (I am not a doctor). 120 Armour is about the same as 112 mcg synthetic T4 with 10 mcg cytomel per day. Are you sure on the amount per day of old verses new meds you take?
Avatar f tn s starting dose of Cytomel was too high for me, and since most here do well on Armour, I opted for it. I do not have any regrets, as far as my thyroid is concerned I beleive I am symptom free for the most part, I still have sleeping issues, but I have other issues involved in that.I am taking 3/4 of a 90 in the AM and 3/4 in the afternoon, but because of Hashi's progression that could change in the future.
