Cytomel adverse effects

Common Questions and Answers about Cytomel adverse effects

cytomel

Avatar m tn "There was a site that supplied it but it is now non operational (not sure why)." Maybe the product wasn't safe to take and they got shut down? What adverse effects does your uncle have with other versions? What exactly is his condition?
Avatar f tn It's not unusual to have adverse effects when changing medication or dosage. Did you change/increase both the Tirosint and Cytomel, at the same time? How much of an increase did you get? What's the reference range for the FT3? That varies lab to lab so must always be posted with labs. Even with an increase in T3 med, it's unlikely that symptoms will be alleviated immediately.
Avatar n tn An option here called ERFA, while initially touted to be a great alternative, has now had a reformulation that has had endless adverse effects. Research has brought up two alternatives, both combinations of t4/T3 called Euthyral or Novothyral. Has anyone heard of them? Bigger question, can anyone at all, private message me, with a way to order through an online pharmacy? I fought too hard to feel normal, to return to generic medications that will make me ill.
Avatar f tn I have an extreme sensitivity to Synthroid and have had a reaction to Cytomel as well i.e. become hype and experience many of the listed side effects of Synthroid.. Every time I increase my dose, I have a horrible experience until the medication stabilizes. My Free T4 is midrange and the FreeT3 is low and my TSH is close to 6. I've been thinking that maybe I'd have a better response to Armour but it terrifies me, particularly since I also seem to have a poor response to T3.
Avatar f tn I am confused about something... The website says for Synthroid: Adverse reactions associated with levothyroxine therapy are primarily those of hyperthyroidism due to therapeutic overdosage. How can you have "therapeutic overdosage" if your thyroid levels are in hypo range? This confuses me.. Is it too much at once?
5584884 tn?1370371308 Hoping someone can help. Was diagnosed with Hypo. back in 2006. Was placed on Thyroxine/Cytomel combo. since. Seemed to have worked well til about a year ago. Heard several Endo's "complain" about the use of Cytomel. Have had others say some people won't convert without it! In 2006, in order to maintain proper T3 levels...I was placed on 5mcg per day. Over time my conversion from T4 to T3 has required my Dr.
Avatar f tn The daily dosage of 50 mcg of Cytomel is the equivalent of 200 mcg of a T4 med. In addition, Cytomel (T3) is such a fast acting med that I can easily envision unwanted reactions. Many of our members report on adverse reaction to such a large dosage. I suggest that you discuss with the doctor and reconsider the starting dosage.
Avatar f tn After taking synthroid for 30 plus years for cold nodular, I had a TT on 12/9 due to thyroid cancer being found. Took Cytomel through the holidays and then went on low iodine diet for the last two weeks. I go for blood work tomorrow and am suppose to get first RAI pill on Monday, body scan on Tues and treatment which is a larger dose of iodine later in the week.
Avatar n tn With Hashimoto's, should I take both Synthroid and Cytomel? Some docs prescribe both; others only the synthroid. What does the Cytomel add?
909086 tn?1242660764 25 mcg of Cytomel to start is huge! And, when you start cytomel your suppose to cut your T4 med back by 20 mcg I believe. Second...you cannot treat with a T3 med without testing your Free T4 and Free T3...that is how you dosage and treat. T3 will supress the TSH and you cannot go by this whatsoever when on both meds. You should be having a Free T4 and Free T3 done with your TSH EVERY time. Cytomel and generic comes in 5mcg dosages for easier dosaging.
Avatar f tn I hope that the Endo is not making that much of an increase in Cytomel all at one time. that might be way too much of an increase and could cause some adverse reactions. Seems to me it would be better to phase in to that level.
Avatar f tn I am now on the Synthroid with Cytomel and doing great. When I first had my TT last year, I tried the Synthroid without the Cytomel and sis terribly.. now that I added the T3.. its working good. I feel better now than I have in a very long time!! Even on the Armour! Hope this helps!
Avatar f tn Just went to my doctor and the person that has been prescribing my cytomel is changing clinics, they do not accept my insurance. I do not know what to do. I fought for 7 years to get the cytomel, she told me she would never make me live without it because she watched how I lived without it and how I came to life with it and now she's leaving, I don't know what to do.
Avatar n tn Now doctor is suusting her to go for avastin injection, now she is afraid to take it as there will be adverse effects. Is this true? And what the chance are for her to get her full sight back?
Avatar m tn Stop using Levaquin now.Its not that long that you have severe adverse effects,so better change the prescription.Use salt water gargles to relieve symptoms of Strep throat.Get a better medication like Cepahlosporins.
Avatar f tn My son is taking synthroid and cytomel not synthroid and armour as reported previously. Sorry.
