Common Questions and Answers about Cymbalta withdrawal symptoms dizziness

cymbalta

Avatar m tn I was on Cymbalta for a little over a month. How long will I experience withdrawal symptoms such as brain zaps and dizziness?
Avatar f tn I have in the last 4 months tapered myself off the cymbalta and I am suffering from withdrawal symptoms. I have been two weeks totally off this drug . The dizziness and brain zaps are getting better, but my taste buds are still horrible. It feels like the front of my tongue has been burnt and it feels like my teeth are coated with rubber. How long do these withdrawal symptoms last. I can handle it all, but the taste bud sensation is horrible.
Avatar f tn I haven't taken Cymbalta or Paxil, so I can't give a personal withdrawal experience for those specific drugs. However, I have taken other SSRIs and SNRIs, and while the withdrawal effects can be really unsettling and uncomfortable, they do decrease in severity and eventually go away with time. I wonder whether the tremors are a side effect from starting Paxil, or a withdrawal symptom from weaning off the Cymbalta, or both?
Avatar n tn A lot of these medications have to be tapered down slowly in order to avoid the withdrawal symptoms and that is something your doctor could have helped you with. The fibromyalgia is not going to go away, what do you plan to do after the Cymbalta is out of your system?
Avatar f tn For personal experience I can tell you that Cymbalta does cause withdrawal symptoms (abstinence syndrome). I was on Cymbalta for 6 months as prescribed for my Psychiatrist, after that I decided to do some research about possible withdrawal symptoms because my bad experience with lexapro in 2005. I found that Cymbalta can cause severe symptoms from withdrawal abruptly.
462675 tn?1206697609 It still could have been the Cymbalta. One of side effects while on the medication can be dizziness. If the dizziness persists and you are concerned, get it checked out again. It should subside after a few weeks as your body readjusts. I'm not a doctor and I dont want to give you the impression my advice is professional advice--just my experience. So, you are not pregnant? Why did the dr think you were in the first place. Maybe you need a new dr??
Avatar n tn She ended up fighting both of us off like she had completely gone insane. We flushed all of her cymbalta down the toilet much to her dismay. Her withdrawal symptoms are severe but neither me nor her boyfriend know exactly what to do as i cannot find anything about cymbalta being abused in this kind of manner.
Avatar m tn period of about 3-6 weeks- still presents serious unwanted side-effects, it must be weaned off with the help of an MD, to avoid serious withdrawal symptoms/discontinuation syndrome. As an alternative, you may consider natural herbal SNRIs, which have a better safety record without many side effects, nor dependency issues. Let me know, if interested in exploring this further.
Avatar f tn I stopped Cymbalta cold turkey 1 month ago.. I had taken it for 5-6 months... The brain zaps, what you are describing as electrical shocks running thru your body and brain, lasted for 3 weeks. Now I'm brain zaps free. The withdrawal torture can last for 1 month maybe a bit more depending on how long you've been on the medication.
4753943 tn?1359934569 I want to know if I should still expect the intense Effexor withdrawal symptoms such as brain zapping, nausea, dizziness, and crying spells. Any advice would greatly help. I want to know what I'm getting myself in to!
1580828 tn?1322128022 My question is if I miss one dose of the cymbalta within a day I have the brain bashing migraine and the severe dizziness as bad as when it first occurred. Plus the fibro pain returns. Is this withdrawal from the drug or has the drug actually been keeping these things in check for me all this time and I would have been worse off sooner if I didn't start taking it to begin with (for anixety and quit smoking). Any help is greatly appreciated.
Avatar m tn m a little confused did the symptoms start a week later or four days later, or before you started taking the full time meds again (with pregnancy a lot of time your doctor will keep you on low dose or as needed with SSRIs and bezos to keep the withdrawal symptoms from affecting your baby) You asked if it could be withdrawal from the Klonopin when did you stop/restart taking it?
Avatar f tn I feel like it’s a really low dose and since just being on the cymbalta already I feel sick and massive headache and dizziness . My psych is out of town until 3 weeks so not sure if anyone else has insight on this?
Avatar f tn I stopped using oxy 6 weeks ago today. I guess that would be 42 days. I want to be completely free of prescription drugs so I have weaned off Cymbalta and have been completely off for almost three days now. I feel I no longer need it because I can run and exercise now and I have been able to stay off antidepressants for years as long as I could run.
Business woman1 I cannot specifically diagnose what you are experiencing and I really cannot explain the mechanism of action of Saphri as this is very complex (it binds to serotonin and dopamine receptors in the brain) We do know that it can cause various side-effects including movement disorders, increased prolactin(brain hormone) levels, weight gain, and dizziness. Cymbalta is a SNRI and elevates mood and decreases pain fiber signals.
Avatar f tn I would have thought 4-6 weeks was about the time it took to get rid of withdrawal symptoms. Your symptoms sound strange, and I think you should see a doctor. Hard to believe feet swell up because of withdrawal from anti-depressant. Are you experiencing depression again? I had many physical problems when I was deeply depressed. On medication I am fine both mentally and physically. It would be interesting to know if others have had this foot problem.
Avatar n tn Yes, you may be experiencing withdrawal symptoms. The withdrawal is unusual with tramadol; some people have very uncomfortable symptoms, and others have none at all. Starting the Cymbalta may reduce your withdrawal to some extent, as Cymbalta is a serotonin (and norepinephrine) reuptake blocker, and some of the withdrawal from Tramadol comes from changes in serotonin activity. The withdrawal is not 'dangerous', so do your best to avoid concentrating on them.
Avatar n tn I had a terrible time too getting off of effexor. All people are different like you said so it's hard to tell how long your going to go through this. What your feeling is normal when quitting this med. Did your Dr. suggest another med? Switching to another antidepressant will probably leeson your withdrawal for the effexor. I know that some of the antidepressants you can get as generic, much cheaper. I take paxil and get it for $4.00 and that's a months supply.
Panda I cannot diagnose your current symptoms but it certainly could be that you did experience a withdrawal reaction to Cymbalta. In my patients with similar reactions I would expect that these symptoms may take 7-10 days to clear but certainly close follow-up with your physician is necessary, In my patients, when I attempt to wean my patients off cymbalta, I will sometimes have them reduce just one dose a week (ie take 60mg 6 days a week and 40mg once a week). I hope you feel better!
Avatar n tn Very dangerous to quit either of these drugs cold turkey. Although only one month on either isn't very long, you still probably have a mild dependency. I went off Cymbalta cold turkey (not knowing I'd deal with withdrawals), and had symptoms like yours, and quickly got back on and did a taper. I would imagine these symptoms will have passed by day 4 or 5, but again, it can be dangerous to quit these cold turkey....seizures etc.
Avatar n tn I'm guessing you're suffering Effexor withdrawal, not Cymbalta withdrawal. It's not impossible to get a withdrawal from a short stay on a med, but unlikely. Sometimes a med just affects someone more profoundly than one would expect. But given you just came off Effexor, that being one of the hardest meds to stop taking and one that can have long withdrawals, I'm guess you didn't successfully stop it slowly enough to prevent withdrawals.
Avatar f tn Hi there. Duloxetine or cymbalta on withdrawal or discontinuation presents with dysphoric mood, irritability, agitation, dizziness, and sensory disturbances like paresthesiae or electric shock sensations, anxiety, confusion, tinnitus and seizures. Is your neurologist reducing the drug dose or stopping it abruptly? That could be responsible for electric sensations and shakes in the head.
Avatar n tn I just took my last Cymbalta 3 days ago. Now I am feeling the side effects of withdrawal symptoms. I feel electric impulses throughtout my body, and do not have a doctor now, because of no insurance. I am feeling severely depressed and stay home with my two kids all day long. I really need someone to help me with this. I am feeling super bad and its gradually getting worse. Please help me??
Avatar f tn what are his biggest symptoms? mine are lightheadedness, dizziness and fuzzy vision sometimes, especially from getting up from a squatting position.
