Cymbalta withdrawal how long does it last

Common Questions and Answers about Cymbalta withdrawal how long does it last

cymbalta

How long does it take for the withdrawal symptons to go away? I got off Cymbalta 5/31 and had severe reactions, my dr put me on Prosac for six weeks, it helped. But I have been off Prosac since 7/25 and am still having some pretty bad withdrawal symptons. Head and body aches, electric shocks, paranoia, my feet hurt really bad, it's hard to walk on them and my ankles swell every day. Does it ever get any better?
I was on cymbalta for about 18 months (after effexor and before that lexapro). It did ok--only side effect I noticed was weight gain. Withdrawal is VERY bad however as when I ran out of meds and could not get refill in time etc. Just in last month I noticed withdrawal like symptoms culminating in a crash over abott a week's time that i never hope I repeat.
DO NOT START CYMBALTA !!! If you go online and look at Cymbalta withdrawal you will be amazed. I have had 29 surgeries over the course of my life and have experienced some very severe pain including a thorotcotomy for spinal surgery, kidney stones, pelvic pain for numerous abdominal surgeries. I have weaned off of many narcotics over the years and have done OK by eating a very healthy diet, taking supplements, excercising, deep breathing and meditation along with praying.
3 weeks later they reduced me to 20mg (the lowest does Cymbalta has). 4 days after reduction I got a headache for like a day and then it was over. 3 weeks later it was the end - no more Cymbalta - and that was 9 days ago (11/7/08). Like clockwork, 4 days after reduction, it started... The lucid, vivid nightmares. The headaches. The nausea. The tingling throughout my body and sensation of numbness. The feeling of an irregular heartbeat. The 'ZAPS'.
Wow I feel SO much better though verging on hypo episode I think, all the dizziness and sickness disappeared within an couple of hours of taking the 30mg Cymbalta. Up this morning at 06.30am after only 5 hours sleep, not sure how long this energy will last but it sure feels great so I'm going to enjoy it! Spending spree yesterday...£20...in a CHARITY SHOP lol!!!!! Cleaned house top to bottom.
My husband was so depressed today.. it was scary. I hate seeing him like this. How long will it last? Will he get better after a few days clean? Right now he is 3 days tomorrow will make 4. I keep telling him I am proud of him and that he is on his way to being clean for good. Is there anything more that I should be doing for him? I want to give him the best of me so that I can really help him..What else should I be doing?
my doctor told me to stop taking the Cymblata. Any idea on how long it will take for my blood pressure to stabalize?
If indeed you have a severe intolerance or sensitivity causing these symptoms, then your doctor may advise that the best course of action is to just stop taking it without a taper. How long have you been taking the Cymbalta regularly? It seems as though you've been on it for a while before these more severe symptoms started. That tells me a few things...
When my pdoc took me off of Cymbalta it was pure H*ll, but he didn't do it like you are doing it. I went from 60 mg to 40mg to 20mg to 10mg to 0mg - over 45 days. It wasn't fun, but you can't just drop off of Cymbalta. You have withdrawals like LCC said - heroine addiction. I had sweats, vomiting, nauseau, swimmy head, dizziness, clicking in my head (I felt like there were bugs crawling under my skin), electric shock sensations, and insomnia then excessive sleep.
I still really want to give Savella another go, but am going to taper off of Cymbalta waaay slower than last time. For now I am taking the Cymbalta. In my opinion it doesn't do squat for my pain, but does help with my mood and energy.
My doctor gave me diazipam for help but I have had to increase this medication as needed. No more than 5mg at a time but how long does this withdrawal last. Shouldn't I be getting some results? I get some sleep but last night my legs were doing a dance on me I could not control. That was rough but of course I made it through with the help of the diazipam. When will there be light at the end of the tunnel. I know there has got to be and July 12 will be a month off the fentanyl.
My last large dose of Percosets and Fioricets were last Monday and here it is a week - I won't say already because it has been a long week. I had a migraine pretty much the entire time and have been miserable, but I just used my Imitrex. I started to ween myself off the narcotics by dropping down to two 5mg tabs per day just of the Percosets, I stopped the Fiorinal right away. Then on the third day I went without anything and surprisingly didn't feel that bad. The next day was harder though.
I read this forum before I quit a week ago and it scared me but I didnt really expect it to be this bad and to last this long.... Im losing it mentally.
I guess I want to know how long til I get better?! Truth is, I know it takes time but I'm looking for reassurance. And I'm feeling guilty for even messing w/it in the first place. I have no issues in my mental health history other than appx 2-3 depressions I was treated for. Twice in college for situational stuff and now this "breakdown" (I'm calling it mental flu!), from switching meds. Any kind, encouraging or helpful advice would be appreciated!!!!
We are all unique individuals, and what may be an easy and quick withdrawal for one person, may not be the same for another, so it is difficult to say how long withdrawals will last. My doctor told me to withdraw slowly as I have been on anti-depressants for over 20 years. I am on Effexor, and am in my 9th month of withdrawal. When I stopped it cold turkey once before, I was very bad for two weeks, but OK after that. Depression came back after a year.
* [Warning. If you are on anti-Depressants, use medical supervision on L-Tyrosine, SamE and all mood enhancers. There can be a risk if taking L-Tyrosine, 5 HTP if you are on a tricyclic or a MAIO antidepressant's ...It can cause a spike in blood pressure.] > Thomas Recipe Text -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PLEASE NOTE: I am not a doctor, simply a long-time Rx opiate junkie who has had many opportunities to develop a way to detox.
Is Restoril a good choice, in general? I realize it's another benzo. Will I ever feel normal? How long will this whole episode last? I definitely need help here. Why am I continuing to feel anxious in the a.m./early afternoon?? Thanks very much for whatever insights you can provide.
for a whole year, it has been really tough but I think I am over the withdrawal effects. If I can do it, anyone can.....it was incredibly difficult to adjust, but I am doing it, by God's grace. Remember that there is no conclusive evidence as to HOW and WHY these drugs, such as Zoloft work. Or, why they help some people and not others. Scientists do not know why they make people feel better. That is scary to me, they're not sure about their mechanism. Pay attention to the commercials..
With it only having been a month that I've been taking these pills again, can anyone give me an idea of how severe the withdrawal will be? Will it be as bad as the last (when I was taking 80 pills a day) or should it be milder given the lower amount and amount of time? I had been taking pills, the last time, for 3 years, with the 70 to 80 a day dosage lasting for about 9 months or so. Thanks for any advice anyone can give me. I am getting married in a month.
I am really interested in how you used the kratom and for how long. can you tell me more about this? It looks like I have another week or so to go.
Hi Gary, Thank you for your update. It is good to hear from you again but not good to hear about your new problem, I am not an expert on withdrawal so you really should discuss this with your physician. I can tell you that what you are feeling is your bodies need for the opiate. You body has become depend on these omedications. It would happen to any of us that require and have taken opiates for any length of time. So what you are experiencing is normal.
i have been taking xanax .25mg just started this week due to getting severe pain in my chest and upper back. The doctors told me that it was stress but i'm afraid that after the medication is completed that i will get withdrawl syptoms and the anxiety will come back even worse than it was. what should i do?
It depends on how your body handles it, but it seems as a general rule, they will last for about a week. You may also experience lethargy and depression. That may last for 1 week, 1 month, I don't know. I am not a doctor. Again, it depends on what your body does with it or what you do with your body. Personally, I would suggest a good diet, exercise, muti's, and determination. There are posts here about a recipe that you can check out.
Afraid of what i've read here about withdrawal so going to keep at it and hope i feel better. But it would help to know how long it took for others.
How long were you on it? I was on it for about 4 years and it was a bit tough getting off it and it took about a month but it was well worth it!
my question is if any one has taken or does take it how does it work. any bad side affects???. how fast does it work?? any thoughts are great thanks..
Please excuse my tardy response. It sounds like you have been through the wringer. My heart goes out to you. Cymbalta... like so many other medications should not be suddenly stopped. As you discovered Ultram and Cymbalta should only be taken together if the benefits out weight the risks. In your situation that was not true. Who prescribed these? Are you seeing the same PA for all of your medications? Yes the prescribing medical provider should have know the interactions....
I'm taking Cymbalta now for 3 weeks for depression, it doesn't seem to help. Does any body have any experience and advise? Any idea how long until the depression stops?
