Cymbalta withdrawal fatigue

Common Questions and Answers about Cymbalta withdrawal fatigue

cymbalta

Avatar f tn First, did you taper slowly off the Pristiq first before switching to Cymbalta? If not, it could be a withdrawal symptom. Second, these are both stimulating antidepressants targeting norepinephrine as well as serotonin, and if you're not metabolizing the Cymbalta as well as you did the Pristiq you might be missing the artificial stimulation of adrenalin you get from this class of drugs.
Avatar f tn For personal experience I can tell you that Cymbalta does cause withdrawal symptoms (abstinence syndrome). I was on Cymbalta for 6 months as prescribed for my Psychiatrist, after that I decided to do some research about possible withdrawal symptoms because my bad experience with lexapro in 2005. I found that Cymbalta can cause severe symptoms from withdrawal abruptly.
Avatar m tn I would be reluctant to say you need to change your medication. I take zoloft and the biggest difference with zoloft and Cymbalta is Cymbalta is also prescribed to treat chronic pain. So I don't know exactly how long you have been taking it but it seems like it would be beneficial. If it is being prescribed as a long term therapy medicine than it likely you won't have to be worried about the withdrawal symptoms anyway.
Avatar f tn I stopped Cymbalta cold turkey 1 month ago.. I had taken it for 5-6 months... The brain zaps, what you are describing as electrical shocks running thru your body and brain, lasted for 3 weeks. Now I'm brain zaps free. The withdrawal torture can last for 1 month maybe a bit more depending on how long you've been on the medication.
712802 tn?1274645485 re taking a more sedating SSRI (which CYMBALTA might actually be) then your lethargy and fatigue symptoms do not surprise me. I take CELEXA , another SSRI, and I get fatigue from it. I don't know much about ABILIFY, just what I've read. If I were you, I'd call my Doc and let him/her know of your reaction to the combo you're on. It could be that your meds need to be re-adjusted OR maybe you need something else?
Avatar f tn I have in the last 4 months tapered myself off the cymbalta and I am suffering from withdrawal symptoms. I have been two weeks totally off this drug . The dizziness and brain zaps are getting better, but my taste buds are still horrible. It feels like the front of my tongue has been burnt and it feels like my teeth are coated with rubber. How long do these withdrawal symptoms last. I can handle it all, but the taste bud sensation is horrible.
Avatar m tn I was on both welbutrin and cymbalta and the withdrawal was awful,,,,,have been off 3 yrs and will tough it out, I drove my entire family nuts!
Business woman1 Now I am going to see if I can find a doctor who will actually acknowledge that there is such a thing as Cymbalta withdrawal, and who will help me to safely get off of it. Best of luck to you and a suggestion: please do your own research on any medication a doctor wants to put you on (or take you off) before actually doing so.
Avatar m tn I thought it was from the Effexor and Lyrica withdrawal so I kept taking Cymbalta for quite awhile. Finally realized it was the Cymbalta. I went to my doctor and he ended putting me back on Effexor and Gabapentin. So I went through all of that hell and was basically back to where I started. That's about it in a nutshell.
1100837 tn?1267668675 I am desperate for answers regarding my chronic leg pain and fatigue. My doctor keeps increasing my Cymbalta. Now wants me to get off of Elavil 25mg and Adderal 15mg. Doctor says take the Neurontin for sleep. The Elavil works best for pain, but I can hardly get up in the mornings and it has made me gain 10 plus pounds and counting. I take Clonapin 0.5mg twice a day. Getting off the Elavil, I am having cold feet and hands and a very unsettling feeling and absolutley no energy.
1345272 tn?1276400328 Hello, I just joined this site in hopes to find an answer or some advice. I am currently on methadone and have been for about a year now, and i am dealing with a lot of anxiety and depression. I have been on celexa for about 7 years and the doctor decided that i have become immune to it, so he is putting me on wellburtin. I haven't tried it yet because i havent heard good things so far and am a little worried.
Panda I cannot diagnose your current symptoms but it certainly could be that you did experience a withdrawal reaction to Cymbalta. In my patients with similar reactions I would expect that these symptoms may take 7-10 days to clear but certainly close follow-up with your physician is necessary, In my patients, when I attempt to wean my patients off cymbalta, I will sometimes have them reduce just one dose a week (ie take 60mg 6 days a week and 40mg once a week). I hope you feel better!
Avatar n tn The only other thing ive been taking is the lowest dose of ativan 3 times daily, ran out about the same time as the cymbalta, and started at the same time as cymbalta, So my question is, is this some kind of withdrawal from either drug? I would think only one month wouldnt be long enough...
Avatar f tn How long does it take for the withdrawal symptons to go away? I got off Cymbalta 5/31 and had severe reactions, my dr put me on Prosac for six weeks, it helped. But I have been off Prosac since 7/25 and am still having some pretty bad withdrawal symptons. Head and body aches, electric shocks, paranoia, my feet hurt really bad, it's hard to walk on them and my ankles swell every day. Does it ever get any better?
Avatar m tn I was on Cymbalta for a little over a month. How long will I experience withdrawal symptoms such as brain zaps and dizziness?
Avatar f tn I haven't taken Cymbalta or Paxil, so I can't give a personal withdrawal experience for those specific drugs. However, I have taken other SSRIs and SNRIs, and while the withdrawal effects can be really unsettling and uncomfortable, they do decrease in severity and eventually go away with time. I wonder whether the tremors are a side effect from starting Paxil, or a withdrawal symptom from weaning off the Cymbalta, or both?
Avatar n tn some people have very uncomfortable symptoms, and others have none at all. Starting the Cymbalta may reduce your withdrawal to some extent, as Cymbalta is a serotonin (and norepinephrine) reuptake blocker, and some of the withdrawal from Tramadol comes from changes in serotonin activity. The withdrawal is not 'dangerous', so do your best to avoid concentrating on them. Distraction is one thing that can help reduce withdrawal symptoms.
Avatar n tn I'm guessing you're suffering Effexor withdrawal, not Cymbalta withdrawal. It's not impossible to get a withdrawal from a short stay on a med, but unlikely. Sometimes a med just affects someone more profoundly than one would expect. But given you just came off Effexor, that being one of the hardest meds to stop taking and one that can have long withdrawals, I'm guess you didn't successfully stop it slowly enough to prevent withdrawals.
Avatar f tn In your opinion would i be better off with the ultram and valium along with physical therapy, or the cymbalta with valium. I hate taking pills, and the withdrawal from cymbalta looks like a nightmare!! also I am going to start to see a therapist...hopefully that will help. Just in terrible cycle of pain..anxiety..no movement..more pain etc..... Thanks for your insight.
Avatar f tn It's not the way I would do it, especially since they're different classes of medication, cymbalta being an snri and Paxil an ssri. Further, if you take both at the same time, you won't know if something you feel is a side effect of Cymbalta or of withdrawal from Paxil. Both are very difficult for many to quit. If it were me, I'd want to quit the Paxil slowly, tapering down, getting through any withdrawal before starting another strong med like cymbalta.
530150 tn?1284658880 At that point, then it is safe to introduce the Cymbalta. On the day you introduce the Cymbalta you will discontinue the Effexor 37.5Mgs. This will ensure that your body is clear enough of the Effexor before starting the Cymbalta. These two meds do not mix well together. That's why it's important to reduce the level of Venlafaxine (Effexor) in your system before starting the Cymbalta.
Avatar n tn I have really struggled with fibromyalgia for the last 5 years along with a milld chronic fatigue my doctor put me onto Cymbalta. This did seem to work and noted that the pain in my muscles was quite bearable. Now having been on it for the last 3 years I think it has stopped working, I am experiencing severe depression when previously I wasn't depressed. If I double my dosage of Cymbalta I feel fantastic.
Avatar n tn Is it possible that my rash that I thought was from Cymbalta is actually a withdrawal symptom of it? I have been trying to get off Cymbalta because of the rash, but it seems to be getting worse. Maybe I have this all wrong...
Avatar m tn Zoloft, on the other hand, leaves the body pretty quickly and has a lot of withdrawal problems, though not nearly as many as Effexor and not as many as Cymbalta, The SNRI category is one of the worst. Also, the anxiety increase might have been caused by the Cymbalta, as it targets norepinephrine as well as serotonin, and the former is a stimulant.
Avatar n tn I have been taking 60mg of Cymbalta for Fibromyalgia for about 6mos. now. I decided to have my doctor take me off of the medicine b/c I wanted to try a more natural approach....5-htp. My dr. suggested I drop down to 30mg for 1 week (which I did) and then take 30mg every other day. I just started this process and I feel god awful. I skipped Monday night and all yesterday I had what they call brain zaps (thanks to google), horrible nightmares, fatigue (I'll deal w/ this one), and nausea.
