Cymbalta with lexapro

Common Questions and Answers about Cymbalta with lexapro

cymbalta

Avatar n tn Call a pharmacist. Walgreens are usually open 24 hours. lol. I call them all the time with questions like that. I take an Lexapro with my klonopin. Klonopin is a benzo, and Lexapro is an antidepressant. What's trazodone? Is that another benzo? Are you taking 2 benzos at the same time? Call your Dr. and ask or call a pharmacist. Good luck to you.
Avatar f tn Very different meds. Lexapro is an ssri, while Cymbalta is an snri. ssris target serotonin receptors, while snris target both serotonin and norepinephrine receptors. Your post is a little confusing -- did you taper off the Zoloft, or go off cold turkey, or switch to Lexapro, or are you on both Zoloft and Lexapro and now Cymbalta? Going off any of these meds abruptly, even if you switch to another, can trigger a withdrawal, which is why I'm asking.
535882 tn?1396576685 is lexapro a good drug. or would a cymbalta be better. for the nerve problems plus anxiety.or is the lexapro. have the ingrediatnts that i need. on lexapro now 11 days ..
Avatar m tn Week 1: 10 mg Lexapro and 30 mg Cymbalta Week 2: 5 mg Lexapro and 60 mg Cymbalta Week 3 and on: 60 mg Cymbalta. Does that look standard? Should I expect any side effects? Thanks.
772020 tn?1434994216 I was on Cymbalta, which did nothing for me. I've actually been on most of meds. and Effexor is the best if your dealing with depression and anxiety. I also take Clonazepam, but I deal with high levels of anxiety. Effexor for me has no side effects.
Avatar f tn I've been on every headache medicine on the market and nothing helps, I live with chronic daily headaches going on 25 years, seen neurologists, all kinds of doctors and even did accupuncture and chiropractor therapy with no help.
Avatar m tn You must know that one size does not fit all concerning drugs. Some people had a bad experience with Lexapro and went to Cymbalta and it was a life saver and the same is true for Cymbalta. Final word, I woud choice between Lexapro and Cymbalta and you must note that i'm not a doctor and you should talk about it with you doctor prior making a decision.
Avatar f tn My psychiatrist said that Cymbalta targets both seretonin and norephinephrine, so it is generally better for treating patients who have both depression and anxiety. I'm torn, though, because I'm taking Lexapro and while I don't feel great in terms of anxiety, I am not in a constant state of anxiety, like I was a few months ago. If I start Wellbutrin, it will be in addition to the Lexapro, so I feel like the only thing I would have to lose by trying it is some bad side effects.
Avatar m tn Because of sexual side effects with Effexor, my psychiatrist is switching me to Cymbalta because supposedly it has lower sexual side effects. Anyone out there that has tried both or anyone with positive things to say about Cymbalta? Thanks!
Avatar n tn So I slowly weaned off the lexapro and switched to cymbalta. For a week i took 5 mg of lexapro and a 30mg cymbalta. Now I am at a therapeutic dosage of 60mg cymbalta. And I also take clonozapem up to 3 times a day if I have panic attacks. Lexapro gave me gastroinstestinal side effects. While as Cymbalta now seems to give me sleep troubles/insomnia. However, sometimes the medication outweighs the side effects.
535882 tn?1396576685 Are you talking about Flexor? Cymbalta is an SNRI that can be prescribed for anxiety. Did your doctor prescribe these to you?
Avatar f tn I am presently on lexapro,I was on cymbalta,I have social anxiety, anxiety,OCD and major depression.I am just wondering what medication would be best for my condtions.
Avatar f tn Everything I have read says this does not treat anxiety. I just started taking Zoloft because it does...so does Paxil, Lexapro and such. Maybe it will work..dunno?
Avatar n tn I found with both Effexor and Cymbalta gave me wicked headaches at first and when you are adjusting to any med, there is a possibility of sleepiness and temporary odd things. Once your brain adjusts 4-6 weeks, most people see a lot of improvement. You've had a lot of med switches, so I would say it's time to see an expert. Do you have a confirmed diagnosis yet? Meds alone aren't going to completely eradicate depression, you have to do some work as well right?
Avatar f tn I was on Cymbalta for 6 months as prescribed for my Psychiatrist, after that I decided to do some research about possible withdrawal symptoms because my bad experience with lexapro in 2005. I found that Cymbalta can cause severe symptoms from withdrawal abruptly. I started then to diminish slowly and after my 6 months of treatment I began to diminish by 5% increments every 10-15 days and after 4 months of tapering I was completly off.
400867 tn?1371753094 So I took my first Cymbalta today. Other than Paxil, nothing else has worked for me (Lexapro and Effexor). Anyone have any good experiences with Cymbalta? Just wondering what I'm in for this time... Thanks!!
Avatar m tn I am 3 weeks back on Paxil after a failed attempt to switch medications to Lexapro. I have read a lot that Paxil loses its effectiveness after the first time. I (stupidly) have started, stopped & restarted Paxil on several different occasions and it always has seemed to work. I was on paxil 20mg originally then stopped cold turkey and went back on at Paxil CR 12.5. Upped dose over time to Paxil CR 25mg.
Avatar f tn Lexapro and Cymbalta both seem to jack up my blood pressure. I always had perfect readings 120/70 50hr On Cymbalta, I'm LUCKY to get 135/80, but often have gotten readings closer to 159/115. Scary as hell. I just quit taking Cymbalta 11 days ago because of this, and my systolic is down but the diastolic is still wanting to hover around 90... I was wondering how long I could expect this to last after discontinuing.. It doesn't look like this forum is doctor moderated though...
1258539 tn?1293840202 I have been living with severe anxiety and depression along with depersonalization for the last 6 months. I just started cymbalta 60mg. Was wondering if anyone thinks this might help with the anxiety and depersonalization feelings?
Avatar n tn I've been taking Zoloft twice a day (100 mg) for more than 10 years and it is no longer working. I'm interesting in trying to figure out what to try now. I've heard good things about Lexapro (insurance covers) and Cymbalta (insurance does not cover no generic)... So what should I do... I'm so depressed lately - i can't stand it.. just want to isolate and sleep 24/7. no energy or interest in anything... pls help. thank you.
983594 tn?1249672009 If your main problem is with anxiety rather than depression then Cymbalta may not be the best choice. Cymbalta is a SNRI that effects Norephinepherine and also serotonin. Norephinepherine Reuptake Inhibitors like Cymbalta are great for Major depression with anxiety, but not so great if the person only suffers anxiety. The reason is because SNRI's like Cymbalta are more stimulating than the SSRI drugs. You may want to ask your doctor about Lexapro.
1185895 tn?1266608090 Also, I am currently on medication for thyroid(Levothyroxin) as well as blood pressure(Cozaar), and Propoxypnen-APAP 100-650MG(for my spinal pain). Should I start on the Cymbalta? Will it interact with my other medication? I really want to go off of the Clonazepam. Thank You.
Avatar m tn Hey guys, I plan to start Cymbalta (30mgs) tomorrow morning per my pdoc. I have had some very bad experiences with some of the other SSRI's (Zoloft, paxil, celexa, lexapro) as far as sleep/sexual/cognitive disturbances but I feel like some prescription help may (still) be warranted. I just wanted to see what anyone had to say regarding their experiences with this drug. Thanks!
