4186651 tn?1357830957 So pcp says don't take the Gabapentin here try cymbalta? They both seem to have bad side affects!? Anyone have experiences or advice on cymbalta? Oh, and now am having a horrible pulling sensations in my throat?
8496079 tn?1398412516 I worry about the cymbalta with hep c. I have heard many times it should not be taken with liver disease. I have no luck with anti depressants seems like, but if Cymbalta would not make my hep c worse I would try it. Of course my doc says it is not going to hurt unless you have cirrhosis. I do not think I do but I am not for sure!
Avatar n tn I am a 50 yr old male. I was prescribed Gabapentin for neurological pain management by the VAMC in Tampa, Florida. According to some post I've read, Gabapentin is a med that one must be weened off of. I've been taking Gabapentin off and on to help with pain so I can sleep. I don't take it all the time because of the side effects. Sometimes, but not all the time, I feel like I'm having a bad hangover after the medication wears off.
Avatar f tn Yes, I was in a smiliar situation with the effects of Cymbalta not helping. I was on Cymbalta about a year and honestly I don't think it did alot for me, however, I was going thru my Dad's illness and death at that time so it is hard to say. Anyway the doc switched me back to Effexor XR without any tapering or down time nd I had no side effects at all. Effexor is normally started at low dosage of 37.5 mg. and increased to 75, 150 and the maximum dosage is 225 mg.
Avatar f tn I am taking a quick survey of anyone that has tried Cymbalta for pain, along with what wlse you are on that decreases neruogenic pain. Thanks!
Avatar n tn I take Gabapentin for fibromylgia, i have had good luck with it, and had no side effects. What dosage are you at? you might google it for more information concerning the effectiveness and if there are any side effects.
Avatar f tn Yes. I take cymbalta and gabapentin. I see a neurologist as well as a rheumatologist. I go to PT as well. You’re right. I probably do need to be patient. I’m just so miserable. I just really hope this helps. I’ve never experienced nerve pain quite this bad. I have neuropathy but it has never in all the time that I’ve had been like this.
Avatar f tn What Cymbalta did for me: Alleviated my anxiety - within a few days my tense brain began to unfreeze and I found I could day dream again. However, it also made me a zombie (always tired/half asleep) that I eventually found I didn't care about anything but sleep. I was left with no incentive to do much of anything. Alleviated my depression because my anxiety level dropped. Alleviated my IBS problems because it made me so constipated I couldn't go.
Avatar f tn Iv ad a BAD weekend and my sisters friend who has sufferd with fibro for 11 years, advised me try gabapentin as she swears by it making her much better. Has anybody tried this medication? she also says to use sea kelp?
Avatar f tn I had a stroke in May of '12 and have chronic neuropathy in the right side of my entire body. I was put on Gabapentin by my doctor and was taking the Maximum a person can take in a day which is 3600mg a day now the doctor has backed off the Gabapentin to 900mg + added 450mg of Lyrica so far I don't feel a improvement, the Gabapentin was controlling the Nerve pain with hydrocodone 5-325 tab morning and noon but so far I haven't found any cure to just be normal again.
Avatar f tn I also told my best friend and my boyfriend. Dr gave me Gabapentin and Cymbalta. This is helping tremendously with the wd. I have taken Cymbalta before and suffered awful side effects the first couple days, but this time, no side effects at all. I'm assuming this is because the tramadol has the same ssri effects as the Cymbalta? Anyone out there dealt tithe the tramadol wd, and have taken this combination to ease through?
Avatar f tn I have been getting injections for this when its unbearable, but im apprehensive about surgical treatment. I have been on (6 yrs) Gabapentin, now at 1200mg 4 times a day along with Oxycontin and breakthu oxycodone. I'm also taking Celebrex as needed Duloxetine 60 mg at night and Tizanidine 4mg twice a day, as needed, Xanax as needed. In the last month i started experiencing severe depression, insomnia, memory issues, mind fog and libido issues.
Avatar f tn I take nortriptyline, gabapentin, Trileptal and Cymbalta. Others taken different combinations that work well for them. It is a process of trail and error though. Again, welcome and feel free to ask about anything...nothing is really off-limits unless it is disparaging to others.
Avatar f tn Been in chronic pain for 5 years now, after a hysterectomy. What is the best treatment. Am on 2400mg Gabapentin and 60mg of Cymbalta, but don't really want to have to take this for life.
Avatar f tn Went to a new doctor today and he seems to feel the vicodene is no longer working so he had prescribed me gabapentin-100 mgs. three times a day. My concern now is withdrawing from the vocoden. doctor has suggested that I taper down to half a pill a week (of the vicodene). Of course I did not tell him how much I was taking of the vicodene. In searching this forum I have read different opions on the gabaperntin.
Avatar f tn i was taking cymbalta and gabapentin for about 18 months. he started me out on 30 mg and increased to 60mg cymbalta two weeks later. when i started seeing him i had not worked in about a year and a half. i had quit my job because i felt so bad. when i went back to work it was a very high production job and i started having alot more symptoms, to the point i cried every day there and then on the way home. after taking the cymbalta i started having a lot of body movements, some very severe.

Avatar f tn Basic information. I'm thirty one, female, 5'9, 155 lbs, have been active my entire life. Eat mostly healthy. I work up to 65 hours a week with a minimum of forty. And I have migratory pain. I have a diagnosis of past cluster headaches. Over the past few years my weeks of cluster headaches have dwindled and are thankfully gone. I haven't had a relapse in over a year. My main problem is migratory pain.
Avatar f tn Hi, I was prescribed gabapentin. Gained 10 pounds. Ive looked into Lyrica, seems like weight gain is also a side effect. Is anyone on a good med with minimal side effects? I dont mean to sound vein. Ive recently lost weight. Now gained back from medication.
Avatar f tn t stand the Lyrica weight gain, the depression from the Gabapentin or the low libido from Cymbalta. None seemed to help my groin pain but Lyrica and Gabapentin did seem to alleviate the leg numbness. Two weeks ago I had to nerve blocks to my iliohypogastric nerves near my groin. The blocks only felt fine for one day then they made the pain worse and increased the pins and needles feeling in my hips and lower back. Kind of reaching around the were the nerves originate in the spine.
1205402 tn?1268220272 Be careful with Cymbalta.
Avatar m tn I take 2000mg Gabapentin for Neuropathic pain Relief qid(8000mg daily) and 60mg of Cymbalta daily. I have a broken spine due to my service related injury incurred while serving in the Canadian Forces Regular Forces(Army). I take care of three young children while my wife is at work. I am in a level ten pain 24/7. The Gabapentin gives me a couple hours of level 8 pain in the afternoon. Any suggestions?
