My psychiatrist said that Cymbalta targets both seretonin and norephinephrine, so it is generally better for treating patients who have both depression and anxiety. I'm torn, though, because I'm taking Lexapro and while I don't feel great in terms of anxiety, I am not in a constant state of anxiety, like I was a few months ago. If I start Wellbutrin, it will be in addition to the Lexapro, so I feel like the only thing I would have to lose by trying it is some bad side effects.

Both of these are two of the most difficult meds out there, especially when you want to stop taking them. I'd go with ssris first since snris can be very stimulating, or tricyclics, or just try therapy and see if you can do it that way. I don't think either of these will give you tremors, that's usually the mood disorder drugs, but side effects are peculiar to the individual, they don't necessarily go along with the med. What's easy for one is hard for another.

I have taken Cymbalta and it helped me, but I could not tolerate the side effects. Yesterday my PMP gave me an Rx for Lexapro. I took Lexapro a couple of years ago and it also helped me, but again I quit taking it because of side effects. I think both meds are good meds and can help you, but as sandee1818 said - everyone reacts differently to different meds and it does take a while for it to build up in your system so you begin to get the effects. some of this may have to do with ur sugar..cymbalta known for sugar effects on certain people..when i went ct of lexapro..i had things going on almost like ur going threw....

Anyway, i strongly recommend you switch to Cymbalta since it will gives you energy and it will alleviate your pain. The only side effect i had from Cymbalta was some muscle jerkings and nausea for the first 1 week. What your doctor will probably do is cut down the Celexa completely and give you 60mg Cymbalta after your first week on Cymbalta. 60mg will be your regular dose, 30mg is the starting dose.

Week 1: 10 mg Lexapro and 30 mg Cymbalta Week 2: 5 mg Lexapro and 60 mg Cymbalta Week 3 and on: 60 mg Cymbalta. Does that look standard? Should I expect any side effects? Thanks.

Because of sexual side effects with Effexor, my psychiatrist is switching me to Cymbalta because supposedly it has lower sexual side effects. Anyone out there that has tried both or anyone with positive things to say about Cymbalta? Thanks!

t taper off the Lexapro and switch directly to the Cymbalta, it might go fine, but you might also end up with side effects and not know if they're withdrawal from Lexapro or a problem from starting Cymbalta. It's all up to you what to do, but this is what I've learned, the hard way. Good luck.

Have suffered with Anxiety and Depression for the last 4 years, in that time I have been on Lexapro,Effexor and Cymbalta. About 8weeks ago Idecided to taper off Cymbalta as have felt that the medication seems to worsen my symptoms as well as making me extremely tired - I could sleep up to 16hrs a day which is not good with 2 young children.

Lexapro gave me gastroinstestinal side effects. While as Cymbalta now seems to give me sleep troubles/insomnia. However, sometimes the medication outweighs the side effects. Cymbalta allows me to get through a day without anxiety, I rarely have to take my clonozapems. Ask your psychiatrist the next time you visit them, they will have a better idea of what route to go.

Nor is it true that Celexa and Lexapro are the same or that Lexapro is a better version of Celexa. They can have very different outcomes, and both can have side effects. Lexapro was originally advertised as having fewer side effects, but in use that is debatable. All ssris are used for anxiety and depression; though they don't work exactly the same, they all result in serotonin being bathed longer instead of broken down, as is natural with used serotonin.

I was on Cymbalta, which did nothing for me. I've actually been on most of meds. and Effexor is the best if your dealing with depression and anxiety. I also take Clonazepam, but I deal with high levels of anxiety. Effexor for me has no side effects.

t even take a Sudafed without being jittery and feeling strange. Granted, we are all different, but with that being said, I had virtually no side effects from Lexapro. Celexa is very close in chemical makeup, but that one didn't work well for me for my anxiety. I know it does for others, with minimal side effects, so it may be a good choice.

Hello, I'm a 37 yr old male and who has suffered with anxiety for many years. About 2 years ago, I discontinued taking Lexapro (took for about 8 - 10 years) and have been debating taking it again to help with my anxiety. Last year I was diagnosed with an IRBBB/Incomplete Right Brundle Branch Block. I am concerned about Lexapro and it's cardiovascular side effects, especially QT Prolongation which is listed as a potential side effect.

Only took Cymbalta for 3 months but had side effects of being off balance lightheaded feeling like I am walking in a boat now I being taken off the drug and having nightmares the sweats headaches anyone had this experience with this drug?

I have experienced both, and the only way i could get off cymbalta without life altering side effects was to take apart the capsules and slowly diminish the amount inside daily until i was almost taking an empty capsule. As far as depression and anxiety go, I would highly recommend Buspirone for anxiety, it was the only thing that helped me. And for depression, i've got backwards and away from SSRI and SNRI's and got to a tricyclic called Amitriptyline.

I am presently on lexapro,I was on cymbalta,I have social anxiety, anxiety,OCD and major depression.I am just wondering what medication would be best for my condtions.

This med can be great for depression. I do hope it works well for you. It is in my experience with it one of the more stimulating meds so if you do have any start up side effects it may be a little trouble sleeping and things like that. They should settle down though, if you even get them. And, this med should not cause any sexual side effects which is a plus. Keep us up to date on how things are going.

I was switched to Paxil, same dreadful effects. Then a friend, female, said that she was on Cymbalta and no side effects. I asked my Dr. to switch, he agreed, and now I am one very happy camper. Desire is back and my wife and I have sex a couple of times each week...plus the anti-depressant effect of Cymbalta seems to be greater than the other AD drugs I had tried. I have had great success with Lexapro, but everyone is different. There are some initial side effects, but once they subsided for me, it really helped.

It takes a while for the side effects to go away. As your body adjusts the tiredness will fade. Contact your doctor on the headaches since starting cymbalta tho. Could be a problem side effect.

Ive been on so many things over the years and they just stop working. Any side effects on the Cymbalta? Pristique didnt work for me at all.

Now I switched to Wellbutrin because of the sexual side effects of Lexapro. My concern is that I have felt really dopy the last couple of weeks. Also, I would like to know if Lexapro and Wellbutrin are in the same family and if not, what is the difference. I noticed by researching that Wellbutrin does not state that it helps with anxiety as does Lexapro. Please help, I am really getting confused.
