Cymbalta vs lexapro for anxiety

Common Questions and Answers about Cymbalta vs lexapro for anxiety

cymbalta

Avatar f tn s easy for one is hard for another. But again, these two are difficult meds, and Cymbalta is more for depression than anxiety, but you do have both. You can do a lot of research on your own if you choose to by just googling them, but that still won't tell you what your experience will be. By reputation, the easiest to tolerate are Prozac and Lexapro. Good luck.
12714324 tn?1426848387 t heard of any significant liver issues with ssris but when Cymbalta, an snri, applied to FDA for approval for pain control they discovered a lot of liver issues. You might bring this up with your doc.
Avatar m tn I would personally urge caution. Do your homework. Cymbalta, as with all snris, isn't usually used if anxiety is the main problem, as it's a stimulating anti-depressant. It also is associated with liver problems, which came out when it recently applied for approval for chronic pain, which it is not currently approved for. It might just be the thing for you, but make sure whoever's prescribing it knows what he or she is doing.
Avatar n tn So I slowly weaned off the lexapro and switched to cymbalta. For a week i took 5 mg of lexapro and a 30mg cymbalta. Now I am at a therapeutic dosage of 60mg cymbalta. And I also take clonozapem up to 3 times a day if I have panic attacks. Lexapro gave me gastroinstestinal side effects. While as Cymbalta now seems to give me sleep troubles/insomnia. However, sometimes the medication outweighs the side effects.
Avatar f tn Past two weks my anxiety has tripled so my doc put me on cymbalta. Will Cymbalta increase my anxiety like the Lexapro I hear they are similiar? Are there any odd side effects. Doc is starting me on 30 mgs.
Avatar n tn i have been on lexapro 10mg for about a month and my anxiety has definitely been helped =] but as for the p e i don't notice that much inprovement but im also not to worried about that because im also working out my pc muscle (kegels) but again the price for lexapro is simply ridiculous. would you guys recommend me to get on a cheaper medication for anxiety? i know lexapro is the best but what is a good ssri or anyother antidepressent medication, thats cheap and good for anxiety?
772020 tn?1434994216 I was on Cymbalta, which did nothing for me. I've actually been on most of meds. and Effexor is the best if your dealing with depression and anxiety. I also take Clonazepam, but I deal with high levels of anxiety. Effexor for me has no side effects.
Avatar f tn Have suffered with Anxiety and Depression for the last 4 years, in that time I have been on Lexapro,Effexor and Cymbalta. About 8weeks ago Idecided to taper off Cymbalta as have felt that the medication seems to worsen my symptoms as well as making me extremely tired - I could sleep up to 16hrs a day which is not good with 2 young children.
Avatar f tn has anyone tried this before for anxiety what were the side affects and did it help thanks in advance how long did it take to work
1298907 tn?1272886488 Hello all, I hope everyone is doing well today. It seems as if spring has finally come to Idaho! The sun is out & I'm excited to get out & try & work in my garden now that I'm feeling better this year! Yaaay! Can anyone tell I'm a stay at home mom who likes to talk? My 2 year old keeps me company all day & Lord knows I love him with all my heart but sometimes we all just need a little bit of adult conversation!
535882 tn?1396576685 Are you talking about Flexor? Cymbalta is an SNRI that can be prescribed for anxiety. Did your doctor prescribe these to you?
535882 tn?1396576685 is lexapro a good drug. or would a cymbalta be better. for the nerve problems plus anxiety.or is the lexapro. have the ingrediatnts that i need. on lexapro now 11 days ..
1423878 tn?1282883632 Cymbalta can be quite stimulating for someone with GAD but yeah it can work well. Lexapro is indeed a good choice due to it's long half-life.
Avatar f tn I am presently on lexapro,I was on cymbalta,I have social anxiety, anxiety,OCD and major depression.I am just wondering what medication would be best for my condtions.
983594 tn?1249672009 Norephinepherine Reuptake Inhibitors like Cymbalta are great for Major depression with anxiety, but not so great if the person only suffers anxiety. The reason is because SNRI's like Cymbalta are more stimulating than the SSRI drugs. You may want to ask your doctor about Lexapro. It is a very potent SSRI and is less stimulating than an SNRI would be and it may do better for just anxiety.
Avatar f tn i have had generalized anxiety (severe) for 12 yrs. currently only on 5 mg of lexapro only because i couldn't get off the last 5mg. i take clonazepam which is the only thing that works, but every couple of years i hit a wall and need to up the antidepressant. been on zoloft, paxil, celexa, effexor, lyrica, cipralex(lexapro), maoi's, etc..wondering if pristiq works, or maybe cymbalta? only snri i was on was effexor, which didn't do much but also had a brutal psych.
1100999 tn?1257701380 ok i have had anxiety since i was 12 i would get them for about a month straight then they would go away n 4 years later i would have them for a month straight n they go away now 4 years from then im having them but im going on 4 months ive had them everyday! im lightheaded n dizzy all day, is this normal? i keep convincing myself i have cancer, is this normal as well? or is there something truley wrong with me... i feel like im going crazy...
475307 tn?1209791613 My mom thinks that my heart palpitations are due to cymbalta (which I am taking for anxiety), which I just started taking a few days ago. Before that, I took lexapro for over two years. I've only been on cymbalta for 10 days and I skipped yesterday because my mom insists that's what's causing my chest pains and heart palpitations. I cried myself to sleep last night and I can't stop crying right now but I have no reason to at all.
1258539 tn?1293840202 As far as depression and anxiety go, I would highly recommend Buspirone for anxiety, it was the only thing that helped me. And for depression, i've got backwards and away from SSRI and SNRI's and got to a tricyclic called Amitriptyline. This combo has got me feeling better than when i was on Cymbalta which clouded me too much.
1128643 tn?1262483649 Finally, in 2003, I was in a study for treatment resistant depression and Lexapro quite literally saved my life. I was later switched to Celexa for financial reasons. I had no problems transitioning and have taken it for the past six years. Now the issue: I suffer from chronic pain as well, and apparently my pain mgmt doc believes Cymbalta (approved for fibromyalgia) may keep my depression in check while also helping me deal with pain & its own related depression.
Avatar m tn I asked to switch to Cymbalta due to arthritis pain. Thought it would work for both anxiety and pain. It worked for pain but not anxiety. Switched back to paxil and all the pain came back. Now I wonder if I can take cymbalta and paxil but have not asked dr. yet. Does anyone know?
Avatar f tn Did you just enter menopause? Because if you did, it could be hormones. But given you've been on a med for years, you must have had an anxiety problem for years. You don't say how long you've been taking the ativan or how often. If you only take it when you absolutely have to, not on a daily basis, you're not going to get addicted to it and it won't be as hard to stop taking.
Avatar f tn Does any one remember Anxiety being an issue even at day 12? I am on lexapro and cymbata. And Thorazine as needed for anxiety which has been about 50mg every 4 hrs. I have been on these meds for 14days mon. Is something wrong with my meds > or is this still w/d?
Avatar f tn Advice12 - I have such a difficult time with most medications, especially SSRI's, but I can't even take a Sudafed without being jittery and feeling strange. Granted, we are all different, but with that being said, I had virtually no side effects from Lexapro. Celexa is very close in chemical makeup, but that one didn't work well for me for my anxiety. I know it does for others, with minimal side effects, so it may be a good choice.
Avatar f tn Taking Lexapro for anxiety and depression and it has totally stopped working. What med do you suggest?
