Cymbalta migraine

Common Questions and Answers about Cymbalta migraine

cymbalta

Avatar n tn It is a medication that needs to be taken every day in order to prevent migraines. Cymbalta is an antidepressant which works both for migraine as well as underlying depression. “Triggers” are specific factors that may increase your risk of having a migraine attack even if you are under treatment. So it is possible to have a headache even while you are receiving treatment. Common triggers are sleep deprivation, stress and certain foods.
1226682 tn?1399937724 I was on Cymbalta along with Propanolol, Blood pressure medication, and Clonazepam. I had excellent results.
Avatar f tn Does cymbalta cause weight gain? The doctor wants me to take it for chronic headaches but 5 years ago I took Lexapro and that made me gain weight! Help!
1580828 tn?1322128022 My question is if I miss one dose of the cymbalta within a day I have the brain bashing migraine and the severe dizziness as bad as when it first occurred. Plus the fibro pain returns. Is this withdrawal from the drug or has the drug actually been keeping these things in check for me all this time and I would have been worse off sooner if I didn't start taking it to begin with (for anixety and quit smoking). Any help is greatly appreciated.
203003 tn?1210855907 Last night I had a migraine, I suffer from them. My doctor put me on Cymbalta for depression, I started taking it yesterday to then find out I cant take ANY MIGRAINE MEDS with it. I could die from too much serentonin in my brain or go into a coma. I went to the ER didnt tell him I was an addict bc I knew he wouldnt gimme the right shots for my migraines.
Avatar f tn I can say most likely it was not from a migraine. Cymbalta to some is deadly - like me most likely. I am a sensitive individual - and in the healing profession of massage and acupuncture. I can feel a persons energy ... I can know what organs are not functioning and feel their overall state. Whenever you are in contact with someone directly its not uncommon to have some experiences - especially when its your profession. I have basically quit though, after 14 years, because of Cymbalta.
Avatar n tn I have recently weaned off cymbalta and increased topamax. The cymbalta did not help with the migraines and I did not need it emotionally either. I use to use Botox injections in my temples, jaws (tmj) and back of neck (bad muscle) for my migraines but discontinued, at that time I was put on Topamax for one yr. the migraines increased tremendoulsy and moved from what they had been before.
549637 tn?1316705828 My Doctor tried putting me on Cymbalta when I said that I thought that Topamax was causing the depression but Cymbalta makes me nauseated all the time and seemed to make things worse not better. I do think I need a new Doctor. What is Maxalt like? I have been on Imetrex and that seemed to make the anxiety worse. I don't respond well to meds.
Avatar f tn I have Chronic Migraines for the past 4 or 5 years. A Migraine that never goes away, I have tried several medications for it but nothing helps. I have a small cyst at the right side base of my brain, and was wondering that could be possibly a trigger in causing migraine.
Avatar n tn I started with pain to touch on right side of spine and now very sore to touch on only top part of legs. Also, started having headaches on right side. They have tried Cymbalta and now Savella and it doesn't seem to be working. The soreness to touch is getting worse. Is there something I could suggest to the dr. to try?
Avatar m tn I was taken off Xanax and Nortriptalyne (An AD used in low doses for Migraine control - dual duty for me) before starting my Triple TX of Incivek, Pegasys and Ribavirin. I have begun experiencing mental side effects along side my already rough physical ones. My doctor prescribed Cymbalta and I learned after I filled it that it interacts with another medication I take, Imitrex for migraines. So I do not wish to take the Cymbalta as I fear the interaction is too great of risk.
Avatar f tn t want to go through life half asleep and quit Cymbalta cold turkey. The withdrawals are horrible - diarrhea, migraine (worst of my life) nausea, dizziness, brain fog - the worst day so far was about 6 days after quitting. Mentally I feel pretty good; physically - not so much. I hope to feel human again soon.
Avatar n tn 1st Med: Doc added Nortriptyline. I felt great with added energy but couldn't sleep at night. He said I was in the 10% because 90% of people are sleepy from Nortriptyline. 2nd Med: Taken off Lexapro & Nortriptyline, given Savella titration pack. Pain was gone on 2nd day (wow) and I had tons of energy but I was angry and easily irritated. Did somewhat okay until increased to 50 mg twice per day. Migraine returned and my blood pressure & heart rate increased.
Avatar n tn There is a possibility that your symptoms are due to atypical migraine. Atypical migraine can present as tinnitus, visual symptoms and shooting pains, tingling and numbness without the headache. It is therefore also known as acephalgic migraine. Please discuss this possibility with your doctor as soon as possible. Have you been able to identify a trigger for these attacks?
203003 tn?1210855907 Come to find out I cannot take Cymbalta even though my retarded doctor told me I could, Well you cant mix the Cymbalta and the migraine meds together, there would be too much seretonin in your brain which would put you in a coma, NICE HUH?? SO during my detox i had to go to the ER and get a demerol shot. My doctor is brainless, she just writes scripts and sends you on your way without even thinking about it.
203003 tn?1210855907 00 and i take it anyways bc my primary care put me on cymbalta and ur not supposed to take any migraine meds on it, its DANGEROUS. and i refuse. Im seeing a new doc monday, but what the hell do I do in the meantime if i get a migraine? Nothing over the counter helps, hense the reason i have strong migraine meds. I just felt neglected by one of my favorite doctors last night. it hurts so bad that I cant get the care I need bc I go to the ER for "narcotics".
1302779 tn?1287405029 Im fairly new to anxiety after a tough year learning how to deal with chronic migraine. I guess i never wanted to accept that I have a "chronic condition". After moving here to florida from nyc last Christmas and coming down with this migraine situation I recently realized it spun me into a depression/anxious state of being. II am seeing a therapist now for 3 weeks and started lexapro about 3 weeks ago so i am doing what is needed for myself to heal.
Avatar m tn I too suffer those headaches and couldn't decide if they're sinus or migraine. The docs have said they're migraine and related to my POTS. Besides trying all sorts of natural remedies (which usually don't work) I have used Maxaalt. It's fantastic but my insurance co. just informed me that they won't approve it for me. So- I'll be trying Imitrex, a common med for migraines. When the migraine occurs, I need to stay warm (I feel very cold, even my nose gets cold).

Avatar f tn I cant take any medicine for anxiety i tryed lexepro, cymbalta, koplin, etc..but i would always get racing heart beat hot flashes headaches and so on. So what i did i gave up on meds and just let it be. I was fighting it for about 5 month, i would go and exercice, be with friends, go shopping, go to work. None of it i enjoyed it but i said to myself i have no other choice its not stronger than me.
202665 tn?1248806733 I'm maxed out on Lithium and Cymbalta. Also taking Lamictal - Trazadone, seroquel or valium as needed. During a recent extended hypo-manic state the doc asked me to try topomax. i've tried an array of other medications that I've not been able to tolerate. I have friends using the med for migraine control and have had kidney stones which they beieve is a result of the medication. My understanding is that there is only a 3% - 5% greater change of stones with the drugs.
Avatar f tn Yes, definelty read as much as you can about all the medicines he is taking!!!! I am on Oxycodone, Maxalt, Propranolol, Cymbalta and Ambien. Through my OWN research on these medicines, I found that I should not mix any of them together....but yet, My Dr. nor the Pharmacy told me it was dangerous so at first, I was....I could have died. Luckily, I only take the Maxalt as needed for Migraines and I always take my last pain pill a few hours before bed...
Avatar n tn Sinusitis can cause severe eye pain. Migraine can also cause eye pain but since you have no relief with migraine medication this condition can be ruled out. If you wear contact lenses, the pain could be the result of complications due to contact lens. Please discuss all these possibilities with your treating doctor. Take care!
Avatar f tn For those that have FMS, do you have constant, severe headaches? I've been having severe headaches for almost 3 years now that occur daily. I have a history of migraines but I don't have a migraine everyday: the headaches I have are like a migraine as in the level of pain but I don't have my typical migraine symptoms (sensitivity to light/noise, nausea and vomiting) with them.
Avatar f tn My son is 17. He's had migraines for 8 years. We took him to the Cleveland Clinic. They said he was mis diagnosed. He has chronic daily headache and migraine medicine won't help. He is off all meds (except Cymbalta)and has felt better. My problem is this ...he missed so much school in11th grade he had to drop out. He wants to go back but is still missing school. The Cleveland Clinic said he shouldn't be missing any school. I have to force him to go.
