BUN and creatinine are a rough estimate of kidney function, but miss a lot. Hypertension and Diabetes are the most common causes for chronic kidney damage that leads to protein in the urine. I do not know what medications you are on for SFN, but the common ones including neurontin, lyrica, elavil, cymbalta do not cause any increase in urine protein. I would start by getting a simple urine dipstick test for protein.

I seen specialist after specialist. Finally a OBGN decided to operate, she found massive amounts of scar tissue from my appendix erupting when I was two.

Chronic diseases like kidney disease, diabetes, and peripheral neuropathy are also cause for RLS. If you are moving about in bed to relieve pain, have creepy and crawly feeling in leg, motor restlessness with increase in symptoms as night progresses, a diagnosis of RLS is certain. However, dr gave prescription for Neurontin which I did not like the way I felt and then tried me on Cymbalta. Cymbalta has dialed down pain from 8 to a 5/6 allowing me to sleep again. Along with the fibro type symptoms, I have chronic kidney infections and have become allergic to macrobid and sulfa. Ibuprofen gives me NO relief, tylenol makes it dull down some. I feel like a hypochondriac...going to the dr.... tests show nothing...but my pain and fatigue never stop. Some days are much better than others, but none are close to pain free.
they can work on different issues going on in the brain. Cymbalta, for example, also helps with pain signals. The one that has been prescribed for you may help. God bless you, I know it is really frustrating to never know what your body will do next. There are several things that could be going on.
