Can I take Cymbalta (duloxetine) without harm my single polysyctic kidney, my kidney functions arevery good. Many thanks for help..I am 51 years old my weight is 104 KG.

Yes you can take cymbalta with methadone, but I've heard that some ppl have a hard time getting off of cymbalta. I don't know anything about kidney problems with HepC other than they do exists sometimes. Maybe someone else will chime in for you. Just so you know, I really think I'm the only regular poster who takes methadone so we are in a special class.

I have alot of pain in low back and hip areas all the time and some days it seems to radiate up to the kidney area. Have you talked to your dr about it? Maybe it is something besides the fibro. Do you drink enough water? I know that causes me alot of kidney pain if I don't. Just a few thoughts. Hope you can get it figured out. I feel like it works very well with the rest of my medications and have never experienced a kidney stone. My suggestion is to google what can cause kidney stones. My dad was getting them because he was drinking cokes every day. Hope this helps.

How I know that this could be coming from the Cymbalta, is because it all started with the first dose of Cymbalta, plus Debi and my Daughter Cheri went on line to see what side effects could crop up. Cheri was worry because of possible liver damage, but I started telling Debi about the urine flow or lack of it and this other stuff, so she also found the site for side effects for the Cymbalta... I also know I have to watch not to drink too much water because of the Lack of sodium in my diet.

He has gone to the hospital and had tests ran. No complications with his heart, no kidney problems. It has been going on for about 3 months now. His WBC are 13, 000, (he's in the hospital receiving atb), he is somewhat anemic. There is nothing in particular that we have noticed that brings it on. He was on Lyrica, Cymbalta, and Hydrocodone (for severe leg pain), but got off because he thought that might be causing it. So far, nothing has helped. Any suggestions?

So my doc put me on 30mg of Cymbalta 4 months ago and I noticed zero help with the pains. So I stopped taking it about 5 days ago. As of yesterday I felt like I was an absolute mess. I had been having these HORRIBLE headaches, nausea, dizzy spells, confusion, and crying spells out of nowhere. Anyways, after being treated with Prednisone for 5 months my body was destroyed and my kidney ended up tearing through my periteneal cavity and into my abdomen. It took the doctors 2 years to figure out that it was my kidney that was causing all my pain, during these 2 years I was sent to a pain specialist that did multiple spinal nerve blocks and nerve burnings which none worked. I was put on Oxycontin 20mg 2 times daily.

Before I go in, I wanted to ask if you thought this could be related to the Cymbalta I am taking (a friend of mine told me she got a metallic taste from it and had to switch to something else) I have taken it for several years and haven't had this happen til now. I am also taking Lisonpril (about a year now) because I have high blood pressure - was on a diazide pill before that but then after some labs, my primary found early kidney damage and switched me to the Lisonpril.

Hi, My doctor wants to put me on cymbalta for nerve pain that I have been having from an injury I have from 2005. It's nerve pain from a fall I took. He says it will help to calm down the nerves and signals from my brain to help with the pain. The prescription is for 30mg, 1 tab a day then increase to 2 tabs and recheck with him in a month. I'm alittle scared to take this, as I have never had to go on this kind of medicene and I'm afraid what the side effects might do.

Only took Cymbalta for 3 months but had side effects of being off balance lightheaded feeling like I am walking in a boat now I being taken off the drug and having nightmares the sweats headaches anyone had this experience with this drug?

So I took my first Cymbalta today. Other than Paxil, nothing else has worked for me (Lexapro and Effexor). Anyone have any good experiences with Cymbalta? Just wondering what I'm in for this time... Thanks!!

Would you recommend stopping Effexor and switching to Cymbalta? Will Cymbalta reduce the withdrawal effect? My daughters were both recently put on Cymbalta, and their depression is much better, and they claim they are "thinking more clearly". Thanks for your input.

Did your doc just tell you to stop the Effexor and start the Cymbalta? What dose of Effexor are you stopping at, and what dose of Cymbalta are you starting at? Some people have seamless transitions, while others report some symptoms of a discontinuation syndrome, like you mentioned above. Hopefully, you'll have a smooth transition. Definitely let us know how you're feeling.

I have tried it all! Everybody is different. I am on 60mg of Cymbalta. I can't not take it though because it messes me up (if my insurance is messing around etc...) but if youre ready to be consistent, I'd try it.

That being said, her doctor was wise to switch her over to another medication like Cymbalta. 30Mgs of Cymbalta is a good starting point and this gives him option to ramp the dosage up as needed. Regardless of this fact, Cymbalta, May or may not be an effective medication for her. I tried Cymbalta for 7 weeks at 60Mgs per day (after 4 years on Effexor) and in my case it did NOTHING to help with my condition.

Hello LA, Thanks so much for the response to my rant yesterday. I feel better today. Still have the double vision but like always my friends here cheer me up. To answer your question. I was on Cymbalta for about 6 weeks. I asked to be taken off of it. It was making me feel strange. Very "short Fused", irritated, grouchy. I started taking Effexor when this started and I went back to it just a higher dose now. I have seen where people here have got on it and it has helped very well.

Cymbalta made my depression worse and made me pretty nauseated. But then, I never do respond to psychotropic drugs or antidepressants very well.

My Dr. wanted me to try low dose Cymbalta for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and did not have the 30 mg samples so i was given the 60 mg with instructions to empty the capsules into food, as this would reduce the dose by approximately half. I became very ill with vomiting and severe diarreah. I was up all night running to the bathroom and was concerned when i looked up information on cymbalta that said not to open capsules.

I had insomnia and fibromyalgia. My doctor put me on Cymbalta. He said it would help me with sleep and pain. It was 2 weeks of hell, no sleep and constant pain and I wanted to kill myself!!! I was not depressed and have no history of depression. my doctor switched me to amitriptyline. It helps with sleep but not pain, I would never recommend Cymbalta to anyone !
