Morning Meg, I just did a google search "hives lexapro" and there are thousands of hits about Lexapro causing hives, and even when withdrawl from this drug it commonly causes hives. So i'm actually thinking the taking Lexapro and your hives going away was possibly a coincidence and not related. Just for kicks and giggles i looked up "hives cymbalta" and that seems to cause hives as well, so now i'm wondering, if it was a drug reaction that caused your hives. hmmmmmmm?

I am 68 years old. I started with hives when I was seventeen. They lasted about a year. I went two years without them. I have had five outbreaks since then all very bad. I am now on allegra and zantac . I also take cytbalta and anavin for depression. Is their anything else i could try. Hello everyone! Monday I went to my primary doc who gave me cymbalta 30 mg that I take in the morning and Atarax 25mg that I am to take 3x's a day as a fast acting anxiety med and also for hives that I get because of the anxiety! The problem is that the Atarax makes me tired but jittery at the same time !! Has anyone else had this problem and what were you given instead? I tried to just take it at night with the same results.( p.s.

Side effects of metanx are drowsiness, feeling of swelling of entire body, numbness or tingling, severe allergic reactions like hives. cymbalta or duloxetine has effects like nausea, upper stomach pain, loss of appetite, jaundice. You may feel like you will pass out, hallucinations, tachycardia or tremors. Breathing problems, loss of coordination, difficult urination etc few effects can be attributed to these drugs. Consult a neurologist for the other symptoms like smell from skin and urine.

Thanks for your comment! I ended up getting cymbalta 30 mg to take at night and something called Atarax 25mg that I am suppose to take 3x's a day but I take as needed it is for the hives and to take when I get panic attacks.

If the rash persists,then it can be related to hives. The mainstay of treatment of hives is antihistamine which may be necessary for prolonged periods (in excess of 6 weeks).These include non sedating over the counter antihistaminics like Claritin(loratidine) or Cetirizine(zyrtec) and sedating ones like Benadryl(Chlorphenamine) used at night to get urticaria control.

Well I have Lupus and my first symptom was hives. And when i say hives i mean hives. I don't think there was a spot on my body that didn't have them. I ended up in the ER due to anaphalatis (sp?) My throat closed on me couldn't breath. They admitted me and i was in the hospital for about 4 days. At first they thought i had developed a severe allergy to something all of sudden. - I'm NOT familar with cymbalta, but have you investigated the side effects of cymbalta??!! Headaches could possibly be from cymbalta!! I don't know if taping off it might also cause side effects, the other post made a good point about possible rebound effect from your current dosing schedule. It's worth looking into the side effects of cymbalta!!!! Also, have you considered switching to a different med that does same thing as cymbalta, just see if you feel any better/different?

I called my Doctor who told me to use Benadryl for the hives and to resume the Wellbutrin after the hives were gone as he did not think that I was allergic to it. After trying Wellbutrin a 2nd time, I again broke out in hives and decided to stop using it all together. I had previously tried Paxil and Zoloft which made me feel even worse. The past 6 months i took the most that i ever took (4mg/day) for anxiety and hives. i decided to try and get pregnant and my doctor tapered me completely off of xanax. I started 5/3 and ended 5/13. they are not twitches I have them as well, these muscles will be tense for several seconds or longer. Some cognitive issues, fogginess, hives or itchy skin, weak muscles. I have tingles & crawlies as you call them. Anyway, all those symptoms can be anxiety, as I type this my feet are burning and I get rashes (last for several minutes). Sounds like you may be getting hives too. I would keep up with my doctor appts., but I would also get started ASAP with a psych, and get counseling. There is a reason you felt you needed to seek outside your marriage for that. I am not condoning your behavior, but try to forgive yourself (probably will take counseling, lots of it).
