Hi, My doctor wants to put me on cymbalta for nerve pain that I have been having from an injury I have from 2005. It's nerve pain from a fall I took. He says it will help to calm down the nerves and signals from my brain to help with the pain. The prescription is for 30mg, 1 tab a day then increase to 2 tabs and recheck with him in a month. I'm alittle scared to take this, as I have never had to go on this kind of medicene and I'm afraid what the side effects might do.
I was put on cymbalta for depression and nerve pain ( RSD ). I hate taking new medicines I know nothing about. I am young and I am afraid of it. I start off taking 30 mgs for a week than increase to 60 than I will get up to 120 at some point. Could someone please tell me something about this drug? Is it safe?

I have tried it all! Everybody is different. I am on 60mg of Cymbalta. I can't not take it though because it messes me up (if my insurance is messing around etc...) but if youre ready to be consistent, I'd try it.
Hello, I have been weaning slowly from cymbalta. I want to know if any of you have had glucose level changes during and after weaning and quitting cymbalta. Did your blood sugar increase/decrease??? did your glucose numbers went back to normal after a period of time? or the changes were permanent?
Simvastatin 20 mg(1T QD), Diazepam 10 mg(1T TID), Opana ER 40 mg(1T BID), Atenolol 100 mg(1T QD), Lunesta 3 mg(1T HS), Cymbalta 60 mg(1C BID), Fentora 800 mcg(1T BID PRN), Fentanyl Citrate 1200 mcg(One lollipop QID PRN).
He was OK for a couple of months but yesterday he started acting weird again. Slurred speech(more than usual), lack of balance, forgetfulness, etc.
How can I prevent future episodes from happening? Please I need help.
m now down to 12.5cr and tomm is my last pill. during the time i have been taking cymbalta. (slowly increasing) im on 40mg. i also take 0.5mg klonopin twice daily which now has been increased to 1mg in the morning and 0.5 at night. wondering if anyone has had good luck with cymbalta for anxiety...my pulse is always so high also... around 116 resting.. if i move it shoots up ive had an echo ekg they were fine.
How long does it take for the withdrawal symptons to go away? I got off Cymbalta 5/31 and had severe reactions, my dr put me on Prosac for six weeks, it helped. But I have been off Prosac since 7/25 and am still having some pretty bad withdrawal symptons. Head and body aches, electric shocks, paranoia, my feet hurt really bad, it's hard to walk on them and my ankles swell every day. Does it ever get any better?
Hi You may have read some of my posts i was recently taking off depakote as i felt it put me in this pit of depression my counsler startd me on cymbalta this afternoon about 1 1/2 hours ago and im feeling so drowsy is this normal i was on it last year so i shouldnt be allgerci to it

Prozac is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). Cymbalta is a norephrine reuptake inhibitor, which is a VERY similar group, but it acts on adrenaline as well as serotonin, and is therefore stronger and has stronger side effects. I've been on both kinds, and found them both fine, except that the SSRI didn't work for me.
But even if they were in the exact same category, you could still respond to one and not the other, because there would still be a slight difference.
Has anyone taken Savella? My neurologist had me on 60mg of Cymbalta twice a day. In only a few months time I gained 40 lb! My pain doctor suggested I back off the cymbalta and take Savella. I would like to hear what others have to say about it first.
Has anyone else had this same problem? Is it common? Has it gone away or was there anything you did or took to assist with it?

First 2 events was Erythromycin and recent one was Clarithromycin which I discovered belong to the same group as Erythromycin. Is there a solution to this torturing symptoms? Anyone out there has such symptoms and managed to resolve it?
You might need an anti-anxiety med instead, or your cymbalta dose reconsidered. I found Cymbalta very activating, it gave me anxiety. I know a lot of people who've had a positive results from Cymbalta, but you should really sit down and have a look at your meds.
Is your husband unwilling to get help? Is your dr. a psychiatrist or a general practitioner? If he is a GP you should really look into getting a psychiatrist if you can. I would also suggest seeing a therapist.
Do I need a larger dose or smaller dose? Getting very frustrated. Have also just went from taking cymbalta and abilify to the effexor and abilify, but went off the abilify because of the weight gain. Dr wanted me to try wellbutrin and go off the effexor, but don't think it was working. Now I'm really confused on what works. For a couple days of being off the wellbutrin and on 150 of effexor i fealt great. But 3 days later i feel horible again.
Hello. I am currently on Cymbalta. After I had my daughter i was having alot of body pain (also going through PPD) and noone could figure out why, so they put me on cymbalta. I have been on AD for about 10 years for mainly anxiety. I really want to switch my cymbalta to something else...in the SSRI group, because my insurance doesn't cover Cymbalta well and it's expensive! One problem. I tend to get BAD withdrals from just going down on antidepressants. More physical than anything.
