These are two seperate medications. Call your doctor and explain that you can no longer afford the Cymbalta and he/she can prescribe a generic which will work just as well. I've been on a generic for several years with excellent results! Take care.

I took that horrible drug and was progressively getting worse while on it and had to taper myself off of it. Cymbalta, in my opinion should have never been approved by the FDA. You probably don't know this, not many people do, but before the medication was approved and still in the testing stages, 11 , YES eleven negative occurances happened when people were taking this medication.
m not sure how many of yours, if any would be available in generic now but Wal-Mart had a great $4 per Rx, per month or $9 for 3 months. Walgreens has a similar thing going on but you have to join their prescription discount plan.
There are also different drug discount cards that can save you some money on some prescriptions.
There are other meds available. Neurontin works for some, also Cymbalta. Lidocane patches are useful as well. If you are looking for alternative treatments there is some information in our Health Pages (on the upper right hand side of this page) that may be effective.

Well unfortunately, there's little you can do except try and taper down best you can. I would recommend that you try and continue the Cymbalta...or switch to an antidepressant that's available as a generic. The Ultram can cause depression issues (the hydro as well), so stopping an antidepressant with these could be too much.
Besides, Provigil is scheduled to be available in generic form in 2012. That should make it a little more affordable for you or your insurance company.
Don't worry too much Nanci. Nuvigil isn't a drug you have to take every day. If you miss a night's sleep as you adjust to the drug you can always skip it a day and play sleep catch up. Nuvigil doesn't replace your need for sleep so you have to be careful to monitor that you are getting enough.
Due to insurance changes, it will be less expensive for me to take a generic antidepressant in the same category as Cymbalta. I believe it is a Seratonin Uptake. I could be wrong. Does anyone else take Paroxetine (Generic for Paxil) and does it help you with the MS pains? I took Paroxetine before and switched. I think had I been on a higher dose I would have done better on it. Instead, my PCP switched me to Welbutrin (I call it Hellbutrin because it made me CRAZY!!!!!
I've been taking Zoloft twice a day (100 mg) for more than 10 years and it is no longer working. I'm interesting in trying to figure out what to try now. I've heard good things about Lexapro (insurance covers) and Cymbalta (insurance does not cover no generic)... So what should I do... I'm so depressed lately - i can't stand it.. just want to isolate and sleep 24/7. no energy or interest in anything... pls help. thank you.
There are medications that can help alleviate the burning/pain. One of the main ones is Duloxetine, which is a generic for Cymbalta. I take that for my neuropathy… It helps considerably, but doesn’t eliminate the pain.
If you look it up, Cymbalta (Duloxetine) is listed as an anti-depressant, but it’s used “off label” quite often for pain.
Check with your doctor and see if that might be possibility for you.
Hi, I switched from Effexor XR to Venlafaxine ER (extended release) - this is available in the generic form. I live in switzerland though so maybe it isn't available in the UK yet as this was only available to me at the beginning of 2009 when the patent was up. I had the same problems with both Effexor and Venlafaxine so my psychiatrist added Wellbutrin extended release and this eased the symptoms significantly as I was also feeling depressed and suicidal.
s had problems with holding her urine. At times it will just come out. She was put on a med. from the Vet. Does anyone know of a generic brand or natural one that will do the same. I can't keep going back paying office visits everytime she needs a new med.
I could not find that brand name so I talked to the phamacist and he said the active ingredient (dimenhydrinate) . So we found a generic one that makes you drowsy, some have a non drowsy formular. It's a motion sickness medicine. It worked like a charm, another 8 hours and I don't feel hungover this morning. I did take potassium with it. I haven't had natural sleep for years but always took a lot of soma at night and just passed out.
I have recently started on cymbalta for PTSD and anxiety. I took two weeks at 30mg and now have been taking 60mg for almost two weeks although it seems to be helping me mentally I now have numbness in each of my fingers on both hands? Initially, my hands hurt bad and my fingers were swollen and felt like both hands had fallen asleep but couldnt wake up for like three days.
Does anyone know if the generic Harvoni is available in India or Thailand yet as I was told that it would be made available in the last quarter of the year, Im no Einstein but this is the last quarter! Does have any info I can glean some hope from?
Frustrated at sweats, no energy, difficulty in thinking and conversing, did i mention no energy, being treated like a second class citizen or at least the stigma of having it!
Once I beat hep c, it will just be the Parkinsons to deal with.....
