358486 tn?1294776388 Pain is much improved already, however, I have always had insomnia and that is getting worse. Trying to stick it out for another two weeks or so and see if it gets better. Cymbalta is the other one that I have read is helpful to some. I have also tried antiseizure drugs such as Lyrica and Gabapentin. No luck with either but have read some people are helped. Just be careful and do your research before starting any new treatment. I find the doctors are often not that informed with drugs.
Avatar f tn I also have suffered from tmj for many many years. At first, I thought I actually had a brain tumor, I was feeling that wierd! I felt like my vision was off center, I had shoulder pain, neck pain. sinus problems, and stuffy itchy ears, and feelings of being off balance. I was told its all in my mind ,but that was back some years ago. I eventually got an ortho who put me on a night guard.. i would grind my teeth so hard at night I cracked the dang thing!
Avatar n tn I have been taking cymbalta for months and have not noticed any relief. I get more relief from supplements. Has anyone ever weined themselves off cymbalta and how? I am currently taking 60mg at night. Please and thank you.
Avatar n tn thanks for the cymbalta suggestion. i am going to look into that as well as a bite plate.
1302779 tn?1287405029 I know the clenchng is a side effect of celexa which i may be switching to cymbalta. Any input would be great Does anyone think a tmj dentist is the way to go?
Avatar f tn before the accident, i suffered from tmj (left side) i went to see tmj specialist (after therapy for tmj w/oral surgeon) who ordered mri. the results are: there is evidence of a prior left temporal craniotomy. there is some encephalomalacia associated with the lateral aspect of left temporal lobe. gyriform T1-weighted hyperintensity is present in this area, comsistent with methemoglobin deposition. this would be compatible with prior traumatic and/or surgical injury.
Avatar f tn Was given valium for spasms, does not help for that, but does calm me slightly. Ultram takes edge off. Could anxiety and stress cause all of this, to the point of becoming an invalid? One year ago I was an active functioning inividual who walked or worked out everyday. I admit I never had any muscle tone even before all of this....did it all just catch up to me???? Any help greatly appreciated! I want my life back!!!

Avatar f tn Could anyone tell me if they have gotten Duvanta-30 as a generic for cymbalta? Due to the money crunch we have had to look to the canadian drug companys for my husbands meds that he takes, and when I ordered the cymbalta that is what they sent, and when I questioned it they said it was the same... So a little feed back would be great. thanks.
Avatar n tn I started going to the chiro about two weeks ago for my tmj and he said I should have neck adjustments for 2 weeks 3 days a week. So far it hasnt helped my tmj it may have made it worse cause im now streesed about my neck it feels sore and numb going down my back. Was this a proper thing to do for tmj?
1222635 tn?1366396286 we live in alabama..i am assuming that it is not required by law for insurance companies to cover TMJ, as BCBS of AL does not. any help is appreciated. my dentist told me my problem will only deteriorate without treatment and i am at a loss for what to do as we have no money.
Avatar m tn I've been using a dental mouthguard at night for the last few years because my dentist said I was grinding my teeth at night. The first one broke, and the second one has a large crack in the same location. I've also had TMJ problems, mainly in the right jaw joint, for many years. A couple years ago these got much worse, and I had more jaw pain and migrane-like headaches.
Avatar f tn I see a specialist in TMJ who tells me my case is very severe and he has been urging me for at least a year to get a full surgical joint surgery with new implants. I have heard awful things about that type of surgery. I feel like I haven't heard anything positive. I know when I see him, he is frustrated because my jaw hardly opens and it sounds like crumbling rocks, no more popping, that was the good ole days. His frustration is that I won't give in to surgery.
Avatar m tn Cymbalta actually worked for me after I had a major back surgery...i had alot of nerve damage in my sciatic and the cymbalta helped me while they were doing procedures to ease the nerve pain such as epidurals and rfas...however getting off of it was not the easiest thing I ever had to do...my dr lowered the dose and got me off of it safely but I was still going through some moderate withdrawals like shaking and nausea but they only lasted a few weeks and I was fine afterward...
Avatar m tn Hi! I've dealt with TMJ for several years, and it is important to find a doctor who actually treats it! For the first several years I had a maxillofacial surgeon and when i moved I found a dentist who specialized in TMJ. The reason why this is important is that they will understand the need for speciliazed splints to reduce harm to the jaw, and also be able to properly medicate, measure the progress and damage to the joint, and see if surgery(rarely) is needed.
8496079 tn?1398412516 I take cymbalta for the pain in my hips. I find it works relatively well.
Avatar f tn I've had trismus for over 3 weeks now after having a cracked tooth pulled. This tooth had considerable work done on it and was going to get a crown when the dentist discovered it was cracked all the way down to the root. My jaw was getting very stiff each time work was done. Two days later I had it pulled and got the trismus. I am currently going to both the oral surgeon, and a physical therapist. I can assure you that nothing so far has worked. Would botox?
Avatar m tn Also, I bet we all do big yawns now and then--I open my mouth very wide and stretch a bit farther for a moment when the TMJ tension is too high. Accupressure w/ a thumb just above the back jawbone in front of the ear and below the cheek bone feels good. Press the spot firmly a few moments--mine makes crackling noises on that spot when opening my mouth. That spot is probably the muscle the chiropractors are pressing from the inside--it feels similar.
483733 tn?1326798446 Look at the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain website for the referral area. I know how difficult and frustrating it is for patients to find the correct treatment. Hope you find it.
Avatar m tn I have read the posts on this subject and a few people (not more than two or three) have gone to chiropractors for this problem. Any opinion as to the success of the chiroprator for fixing TMJ and is there any danger from their adjustments? Thanks.
Avatar n tn I use Cymbalta for abdomen, neck and hand pain and Fibromyalgia. It does a good job for me. There are some unpleasant side effects such as nausea and being light headed upon standing being the worst for me. I tried Neurontin and Lyrica. I couldn't take the side effects from either of those two. I've experienced life without Cymbalta. Without it my pains levels are considerably higher. My mood is much better on it.
Avatar f tn Has anyone been perscribed Paroxetine for their neuropothy symptoms? I saw my physiatrist last week for the increasing pain I am having related to my syrinx. He advised me to check back in with my NS, and gave me a script for Cymbalta. Apparently, this anti-depressant also works on nerves. I'm definitely not a depressed person - so I had my reservations for Cymbalta, but the pharmacist re-assured me that my dr prescribed it for neuro issues.
Avatar f tn I started Cymbalta 8 to 8 days ago for MDD and Gad with obsessive thoughts. And now tapering Effexor gradually. I didn't see improvement till now and feel very depressed and feel like my head is going to explode cz of the thoughts and the continuously feeling down with no interest or motivation to do anything in life. Do I need to wait for Cymbalta more or shall I consult my doctor to change it? And is it effective with treatment resistant cases as iam a treatment resistant case?
