I've had them but caught it within 48 hours so my primary care put me on acyclovir, which cuts the duration as well as the aeverity. I think you might be too far in for an antiviral. Narcotics aren't the best way to treat shingles pain. Ask for neurontin or lyrica. Cymbalta may work but that takes longer to kixk in. Treating shingles pain is pretty basic. If your doctor doesn't take your pain seriously, you might want to look at finding a new doctor.

I have tried fungal and cortisone creams with no improvement. I am on cymbalta for anxiety and depression. Do you have any idea in leaning towards what I sold get tested to find out what it is so I can treat it.

Hello Scscscsc, Welcome to the Pain Management Forum at MedHelp. I am sorry you are having such tiredness. Have you been on these meds for very long? I don't know the dosages you are taking but put all together they can make you feel a bit tired. Usually with time this side effect will ease. Our bodies usually adjust to the medications. Cymbalta really put me in a bit of a stupor. It may be your combination that is effecting you.

Hi and thanks for responding. No thats probably the only Dr. I haven't seen. Right now I am on 1800 mg of gabapentin and 50 mg of nortriptyline and hve been on them for 5 weeks with now relief at all. I go back next week to see what he wants to do next. I have gone through hell these past 2 yrs trying to find out what this could be, the pain is unbearable and it never lets up not even for a minute..

For right now Im going with cymbalta and lyrica, so far its helped a little bit. I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with klonopin for nerve pain. I just started the cymbalta today so Im hoping it will help along with the lyrica. I wish everyone a pain free day, take care.

Could anyone tell me if they have gotten Duvanta-30 as a generic for cymbalta? Due to the money crunch we have had to look to the canadian drug companys for my husbands meds that he takes, and when I ordered the cymbalta that is what they sent, and when I questioned it they said it was the same... PHN causes pain in the area affected by shingles, often in the torso, and can last for months or even years after the initial infection. Thanks for bringing this nasty condition to the attention of our members. I'm sure many have heard of Shingles but how many know about PHN. Please all - get your Shingles Vaccination. It may prevent Shingles which will avoid the possibility of developing PHN.

Nearly fainted while I was at the gym which then turned into constant lightheadedness for now its 5th month. I had a shingles approximately a week after the episode. Our cases seem similar so I was hoping you had some input and suggestions to help. Did the B1 supplements help at all too? Cheers.

Cymbalta actually worked for me after I had a major back surgery...i had alot of nerve damage in my sciatic and the cymbalta helped me while they were doing procedures to ease the nerve pain such as epidurals and rfas...however getting off of it was not the easiest thing I ever had to do...my dr lowered the dose and got me off of it safely but I was still going through some moderate withdrawals like shaking and nausea but they only lasted a few weeks and I was fine afterward...

I have been on a high dose of Lyrica for almost 2 years and have gained 30 lbs. Way too much for someone my height. A friend said she took Zonegran for nerve pain and it helped her tremendously. My c ondition now is post herpetic neuraglia left over from shingles in the top of my head, forehead, eyebrow and left eye. have anyone tried Zonegran for post herpetic nueraglia (PHN) and did it help. The Lyrica is now affecting my eyes so I am desperate to get off it.

He has had me on many things Lyrica, cymbalta etc.. now Im on Neuronting and Nortriptyline but its not helping at all and Ive been on them for 6 weeks, he put me on hydrocodone but thats not even helping. I take cymbalta for the pain in my hips. I find it works relatively well.

I use Cymbalta for abdomen, neck and hand pain and Fibromyalgia. It does a good job for me. There are some unpleasant side effects such as nausea and being light headed upon standing being the worst for me. I tried Neurontin and Lyrica. I couldn't take the side effects from either of those two. I've experienced life without Cymbalta. Without it my pains levels are considerably higher. My mood is much better on it.

Has anyone been perscribed Paroxetine for their neuropothy symptoms? I saw my physiatrist last week for the increasing pain I am having related to my syrinx. He advised me to check back in with my NS, and gave me a script for Cymbalta. Apparently, this anti-depressant also works on nerves. I'm definitely not a depressed person - so I had my reservations for Cymbalta, but the pharmacist re-assured me that my dr prescribed it for neuro issues.

I started Cymbalta 8 to 8 days ago for MDD and Gad with obsessive thoughts. And now tapering Effexor gradually. I didn't see improvement till now and feel very depressed and feel like my head is going to explode cz of the thoughts and the continuously feeling down with no interest or motivation to do anything in life. I'm sorry to hear about this new development. Yes, I have this ALL THE TIME! My pain management Dr. believes it's post-neuralgic pain, as I had chicken pox at 35 and then a wicked case of Shingles at 40. I'm 45 now and the pain and numbness began last year. Doc wanted me to begin to take a new drug for neuralgic pain, for the life of me, I can't think of the damn name...the adverts show a man's feet standing atop a cactus.

He met with me and was pretty thorough and reduced my medications from 150 of Levothyoxine to 25 mg. He also suggested I increaes my Cymbalta. I called my doctor today and the nurse told me the reason for the 150 mg was that my family doctor wanted to help me with extra weight loss and thought this might do the trick. I asked about Cymbalta as I am taking 60 mg and he increased it to 120 mg, sort of nervous about this as it is designed at high doses for people with pain. That isn't me.

I was on Cymbalta for about 6 years. Last year my Pdoc doubled the dose for awhile. Then for 8 months we tried med changes. 10 different medicines. Prozac tends to be better for depression than for anxiety, but then, so is Cymbalta, since both are also stimulating (Cymbalta much more so). On the other hand, if Prozac works, it's probably the least troublesome of all these meds. Cymbalta is liver toxic for many and one of the hardest to get off of, while Prozac is one of the easiest to come off of since it stays in the body for a lot longer time and therefore the withdrawal is, for most people, slower and easier.

SHe told me to keep taking Paxil for just a week which she perscribed me cymbalta for 30 mg for a week with the paxil then she has me on 60 mg of Cymbalta and she told me to stop taking Paxil when i start taking 60mg. So is she weaning me off the Paxil along with the Cymbalta? And is this safe for a week of taking cymbalta 30mg and Paxil 20mg for a week?

I still have symtons and get shingles about 5 times a year, after many appiontments and prescriptions for aviculor for shingles and complaining about my symptons, and blood tests for everything in the book later, the doctor said last week it sounds like cfs but wanted 2 check my thyroid levels yet AGAIN 1st and rushed me out the door. How can I be taken seriously what should I do next?
