Cymbalta for neuralgia

Common Questions and Answers about Cymbalta for neuralgia

cymbalta

480448 tn?1426948538 I am on Cymbalta right now. I choose this AD because of it's analgesic ability because i have occipital neuralgia. It can be a very stimulating AD tho and for anxiety I'm not sure it's the best choice but here again it's a gamble because lack of serotonin can cause anxiety and too much norepinephrine can also cause anxiety. One thing i can tell you is that whith Cymbalta, healthy diet and exercise my anxiety and depression is gone.
Avatar f tn Hi there. Ilioinguinal neuralgia therapy involves general nerve block to provide analgesia. initially, simple analgesics, non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs, avoiding repetitive activities like squatting, sitting for long should be avoided. Next is ilioinguinal nerve block with local anesthetic and steroid. Epidural steroids at T12/ L1 segments and low intensity laser therapy are other options. Consult a neurologist and a pain physician for best advice. Take care.
Avatar f tn Your symptoms do not exactly match the clinical picture of trigeminal neuralgia but you should continue with the treatment and do notgo in for complicated details. The treatment consists of medicines, surgery, and complementary approaches. For more information refer http://www.ninds.nih.gov/disorders/trigeminal_neuralgia/detail_trigeminal_neuralgia.
Avatar f tn Hello, In your case, I think that it can be trigeminal neuralgia. Trigeminal neuralgia is very painful swelling (inflammation) of the nerve (trigeminal nerve) that delivers feeling to the face and "surface" of the eye. Trigeminal neuralgia causes severe, short-lasting (only a few seconds) facial pain on the side of the affected nerve even by slight touch. Mostly affects elderly females. May be caused in multiple sclerosis also.
Avatar f tn I've been on Cymbalta since it first came out. I take it for my depression and fibromyalgia. I have not had any side effects other than weird abnormal dreams when I was prescribed 60mg. My doctor reduced my dose to 30mg and it works great. I know another drug now being prescribed is Lyrica (gabepentin) for chronic pain. It is now FDA approved to treat Fibromyalgia.
Avatar n tn What tablets are you taking?
Avatar f tn Thanks for the reply I have been given anti convulsion drugs I don't really want to try as there seems to be many side affects.once again thank u 4your kind advice.

Avatar n tn cymbalta is in the effexor family but cymbalta is typically prescribed for neuralgia pain or diabetic pain as well as depression. It works faster than effexor, like 3 days as opposed to 3 weeks. You might want to ask about that.
1042487 tn?1275279899 The 5-HTP is doing a better job than the Cymbalta for my tension headaches and general well being. Oh and my brain zaps are over since today! I'm so happy! I only had like a minor brain zap today and it was more like a 1 second dizzy spell. I don't need Omega-3 supplements for now since i'm not only eating sardines as a source of Omega-3 but i said other various source like soy milk, biologic organic cereals with omega-3, fruit juice supplemented with Omega-3 from oasis.
Avatar n tn Lyrica, is a medication that helps with nerve pain, but I Crave Sweets and have gained 20 lbs!! I also, take, Cymbalta and Ultram.
Avatar f tn Hello, I'm trying to find out more information from others who are going through ilioinguinal/iliohypogastric nerve damage or neuralgia. I've been suffering from groin pain and numbness of my right leg after an ovarian egg retrieval. This was my third egg retrieval as an egg donor. Somehow during this last retrieval nerves were damaged most likely due to scar tissue being built up or the needle damaging the nerves.
Avatar f tn I am currently taking Carbitrol 1200 mg/day and Topamax 300 mg/day for the neuralgia/migraines. I also take Cymbalta for the migraine headaches. I won't list all of the other medicines. I have indomethicine but my neurologist is concerned about the Crohn's so we are waiting on that. I also use oxygen but it helps sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. The headaches can surprise me so fast that it's useless at times.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with fibro and CFS in July, after 2 years of symptoms that kept developing over time. Cymbalta did not work for me either. I build a tolerance to meds very fast so most meds don't work for me or only work a short time. My suggestion would be to find a really good doctor who will listen to you (I know, easier said than done...take this from someone who saw multiple doctors before even getting a diagnosis) and try to find a good treatment regimen.
Avatar f tn Could anyone tell me if they have gotten Duvanta-30 as a generic for cymbalta? Due to the money crunch we have had to look to the canadian drug companys for my husbands meds that he takes, and when I ordered the cymbalta that is what they sent, and when I questioned it they said it was the same... So a little feed back would be great. thanks.
Avatar f tn ve tried all three -- Neurontin, Topamax, and Cymabalta -- but after looking at the information for particularily the Cymbalta, I am wondering if I just have a med conflict. I have been taking Zoloft and Trazodone for over 14 years -- both are SSRIs and these 3 drugs all seem to affect serotonin absorption/dispersal. I am actually trying taking myself off the Lyrica right now, going down to just the Zoloft, Trazodone, and birth control.
Avatar n tn Hello Dear, Lidocaine blocks conduction of nerve impulses by decreasing neuronal membrane's permeability of sodium ions, which results in inhibition of depolarization and blockade of conduction. Intranasal administration of lidocaine drops requires specific and, for many patients, difficult technique. The dose is 4%solution intranasally.
Avatar f tn I started taking Tegretol for Trigeminal Neuralgia, and now my neurologist has me taking it at a low dose three times a day for the nerve pain in my leg (from my waist to my foot). The generic name for it is Carbamazepine. My PCP thinks of it as a fairly benign medication with relatively few side effects, though you do need to have blood work done, since it's possible it can lower your white count. I've taken it for quite a while, and my blood work is always fine, normal.
Avatar m tn I was in a somewhat high risk sexual experience 5 months ago where I thought I contracted genital herpes due to the similar severe symptoms. Currently all my testing for STD have been negative, I have been having neurologic symptoms such as burning skin feeling on legs around pelvis with sciatica pain. I know this could be caused by herpes virus as I have spoke with many people on similar sites suffering from what is described as post herpetic neuralgia.
Avatar m tn Cymbalta actually worked for me after I had a major back surgery...i had alot of nerve damage in my sciatic and the cymbalta helped me while they were doing procedures to ease the nerve pain such as epidurals and rfas...however getting off of it was not the easiest thing I ever had to do...my dr lowered the dose and got me off of it safely but I was still going through some moderate withdrawals like shaking and nausea but they only lasted a few weeks and I was fine afterward...
Avatar n tn Hi sorry the last comment by me was meant for you not for Abhijeet Deshmukh, MD, somehow I copied the wrong name. Please read my former comment.
8496079 tn?1398412516 I take cymbalta for the pain in my hips. I find it works relatively well.
1110049 tn?1409402144 Hello there, There is no major difference between Effexor, Efexor, Trevilor, Alventa. The chemical in it is Valafaxine in all the pills. The difference between XL and non-XL is that XL means extended release. It delivers the chemical in your body more slowly so you get the same benefits without maybe having some unwanted side effects. The result of a lower peak plasma concentration. There is no difference between XL and XR they both mean extended release.
Avatar n tn Other meds include Coumadin, Lipitor, Coreg, Aspirin, 7.5mg Morphine and 20mg Cymbalta (for post herpetic neuralgia) - currently tapering off the morphine. She still has a 20% ejection rate, the same as when the pacer was placed. It seems that the significant breathing difficulty started after the latest hospitalization (I’m guessing that the fluid replacement contributed.) Are there any other surgical options available, or even meds? Would the use of an oxygen tank help?
Avatar n tn I use Cymbalta for abdomen, neck and hand pain and Fibromyalgia. It does a good job for me. There are some unpleasant side effects such as nausea and being light headed upon standing being the worst for me. I tried Neurontin and Lyrica. I couldn't take the side effects from either of those two. I've experienced life without Cymbalta. Without it my pains levels are considerably higher. My mood is much better on it.
