Cymbalta for insomnia

Common Questions and Answers about Cymbalta for insomnia

cymbalta

Avatar f tn I was on cymbalta for a short time and I could not sleep either. Doctor wanted me to switch from Celexa to Cymbalta. Because of my husband's insecurity position at work at that time I couldn't keep taking it (would have been too expensive without insurance). I didn't think it helped anyway. So back to Celexa. I can't take Celexa alone either, it acts like Cymbalta (no sleeping) but not as much.
Avatar n tn I'm still new to cymbalta but not new to anti-depressants. I've learned over the years that side effects are different for everyone and not to judge a medication based on that. Possible side effects doesn't mean one will get all of them (which is what I tended to focus on). While being on Cymbalta, the one side effect I've noticed is insomnia. For the first little while I had nausea but that's gone away.
Avatar m tn Cymbalta is an SNRI which may make a difference for you. I took it for about 2 years and had no side effects.
736040 tn?1257436457 I have been on Cymbalta for 3 weeks now and my sleeping pattern is getting worse and worse. I dont even remember the last time i slept through the night. I am taking Cymbalta 60mg in the am. I am going to try it in the pm and see if anything changes. Anyone elso out there have this problem???
Avatar f tn Two of the more common side effects of Cymbalta are insomnia and fatigue. Many of the common side effects of medications go away when our body has adjusted to the medication. How long have you been taking it? It can take anywhere from 1-4 weeks for the Cymbalta to work, so if you've been on it less than that amount of time, I would stick it out and see if the exhaustion goes away. If it doesn't, then obviously you need to see your doctor to discuss this.
Avatar f tn hello i am currently take cymbalta for 2 months ago, is a good medication for major depression but i actually experiences some side effects like insomnia and sexual side effects, like orgasm problems and no genital sensations. insomnia can be treated with other medications like trazodone..
Avatar n tn I have only been taking Cymbalta for 6 days and since day one can not sleep AT ALL at night and having trouble with fast heart beat. Wondering if I can just quit cold turkey since I haven't been taking it for long......
Avatar n tn Hi all, I'm a 28 y/o male and I've had a history of panic attacks (on 40mg Celexa for it). I've been pretty good, but about 2 weeks ago I came into a bout of insomnia (stress from work and grad school). My doc wrote me a scrip for 150mg of Trazodone. I've never had Trazodone before and the literature I've read seems to indicate 150mg out of nowhere is a high dose. Opinions? Anyone worked with this stuff before?
358486 tn?1294776388 Pain is much improved already, however, I have always had insomnia and that is getting worse. Trying to stick it out for another two weeks or so and see if it gets better. Cymbalta is the other one that I have read is helpful to some. I have also tried antiseizure drugs such as Lyrica and Gabapentin. No luck with either but have read some people are helped. Just be careful and do your research before starting any new treatment. I find the doctors are often not that informed with drugs.
Avatar f tn I was recently prescribed Cymbalta. I'm not sure whether to take it in the morning or evening. I'd appreciate your input if you have had experience taking Cymbalta. Thanks!
Avatar n tn I have a friend who was prescribed cymbalta for depression and anxiety. She was told by her doctor to discontinue taking the pills and she did. Recently however, she has been overwhelmed by school and relationship drama and has emptied as many as 4 pills out on her counter and snorted them. The result is a terrifying tear between getting her help and respecting her wishes for me to stay with her and not get help.
Avatar m tn topamax 50mg for ulnar nerve pain and cymbalta 30mg which he swtched form my aropax (paxil) which i had taken for 13 yrs without any adverse effects. The side effects were awful from these medications. Agitation , fast heart rate, insomnia and suicidal thoughts ( i thought i was depressed before!). Now it appears that i am left with a permanent tremor in my hands and head. I also get frequent muscle twitching. Its been 4 months and they havn't eased what's the go!!!!
Avatar f tn How long does it take for the withdrawal symptons to go away? I got off Cymbalta 5/31 and had severe reactions, my dr put me on Prosac for six weeks, it helped. But I have been off Prosac since 7/25 and am still having some pretty bad withdrawal symptons. Head and body aches, electric shocks, paranoia, my feet hurt really bad, it's hard to walk on them and my ankles swell every day. Does it ever get any better?
Avatar n tn So I slowly weaned off the lexapro and switched to cymbalta. For a week i took 5 mg of lexapro and a 30mg cymbalta. Now I am at a therapeutic dosage of 60mg cymbalta. And I also take clonozapem up to 3 times a day if I have panic attacks. Lexapro gave me gastroinstestinal side effects. While as Cymbalta now seems to give me sleep troubles/insomnia. However, sometimes the medication outweighs the side effects.
Avatar f tn I have since stopped taking the tramadol at all unless i am hurting then and there. And I now take the Cymbalta in the AM because I am now on Remeron for depression. I think i might have been taken the tramadol to keep from hurting rather than if I was hurting and I was hooked on it. The SS thing I was asking about was because I had not started having the fever and bad stuff yet but had started the mild things like nausea, mood swings, insomnia (even though i was taking Ambien!
233622 tn?1279334905 Hello LA, Thanks so much for the response to my rant yesterday. I feel better today. Still have the double vision but like always my friends here cheer me up. To answer your question. I was on Cymbalta for about 6 weeks. I asked to be taken off of it. It was making me feel strange. Very "short Fused", irritated, grouchy. I started taking Effexor when this started and I went back to it just a higher dose now. I have seen where people here have got on it and it has helped very well.
Avatar f tn The residual depression, insomnia and weakness may persist for months. A physician may be able to prescribe you some Requip for the restless leg syndrome, Neurontin for agitation and malaise, and possibly something like Seroquel low dose for the insomnia. I promise you will be feeling better and better every day. It may take months to actually feel great again.
5377229 tn?1367102940 ty for your response. It was me that put the posts up; sister has no computer and lives 50 mi. from me. I don't know how to find the other place where I posted...can u tell me how to find those responses? ty for your caring.
1452582 tn?1285093344 My doctor gave me a prescription for Cymbalta today at 30mg per day. I'm taking Klonopin right now at .25mg twice per day. I'm nervous to become medicated. He said the klonopin was a band-aid, and the Cymbalta will really start fixing the problem with my neuro-transmitters and serotonin or whatever. He said that Cymbalta could initially CAUSE anxiety (which is apparently what I have), so the Klonopin will help with that.
Avatar n tn I was taking Tramadol 50 mg. for fibromyalgia pain for approximately seven years, always prescribed by my physician. I fluctuated between 2-4 pills per day, but usually just 2 at nighttime. Last week my doctor put me on Cymbalta and told me that I couldn't take the Tramadol with the Cymbalta, so I discontinued the it. Ever since, I'm barely getting any sleep and I seem to be breathing shallowly. Even at this dose, could I be experiencing withdrawal symptoms?
Avatar m tn Yeah, three days is not long enough to judge if it will work. You have to try for at least two weeks, which can feel like a really long time when you're not sleeping. Try taking some valerian root, which you can get at Walmart, about an hour before you want to sleep. Valerian root is safe to take with these other drugs. Cymbalta really isn't for everyone. If you're not getting pain relief in 2 weeks, insist on something else.
324184 tn?1308076203 m also wondering if she is sick due to abruptly stopping the Cymbalta (her dr. for whatever reason said she did not need to ween herself off) Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!!! Thank you in advance.
1348086 tn?1370783185 A lady that I work with has been taking Cymbalta for a few years and she says it still works for her. Could it just be me? Has the Cymbalta quit working in less than 2 years for me?
