Avatar f tn I 23 and have been suffering from pain for a very long time, and all other symptoms associated with fibromyalgia.recently a doctor decided it was fibromyalgia. I have started on Cymbalta 4 weeks ago, 60mg and have found no pain releif, but have found that im getting some energy back. Is it known to be benificial to be on cymbalta and lyrica at the same time? any recomendations i would greatly appriciate!!!!!!
Avatar n tn My neurologist said he would not do test after I told him also dizzy and forgetting things. He said it was stress. Also, my "pcp" is treating me for fibromyalgia as far as my legs go. Had tried Cymbalta now on Savella.
Avatar n tn ve also had fibromyalgia for years, but high doses of Trazadone and Effexor have treated the pain mostly. But I still have a whole host of other diseases commonly seen in fibromyalgia sufferers due to the central nervous system overreacting to stimuli. So it can affect the pulmonary system, esophagus, IBS, chronic fatigue system, heartburn, noncardiac chest pain, etc. etc.
4074293 tn?1351896693 I also tried cymbalta and cymbalta with the lyrica and they did not help the pain. The cymbalta was making me moody and irritable and i just wanted to be left alone.
Avatar n tn my mom just started taking cymbalta its an antidepressant but it seems to help her pain. i am not sure if its been approved for fibromyalgia but her dr had read a few articles about how it might help so he told the insurance company it was for depression caused by her pain so they would be sure to cover it. if your current dr isnt up to date with treatment options i would go to someone else. good luck!
Avatar f tn Not sure if it would work for fibromyalgia. I have nerve pain from RSD after many hand surgeries. (I also have fibromyalgia.) I did stellate ganglion blocks for the nerve pain and have had varying relief with them. Maybe it's something you could ask about. Best of luck.
Avatar f tn Actually cymbalta is not just an antidepressant. Cymbalta works to relieve fibromyalgia pain is not entirely understood but it's thought that by increasing the activity of two naturally-occurring substances -- serotonin and norepinephrine -- it suppresses pain. I have been on Cymbalta for several years and know that it does help. I was unable for a period of four or five months to obtain cymbalta so ran out.
Avatar f tn Cymbalta is a strong AD..very much so but also used for pain..as is lyrica and neurontin being the top 3 drugs for fibro..trams nor narcotics are among the drugs of choice...stretching, ice, heat, massage, anti-inflammatories, muscle relaxers when needed all help as well as exercise. Seratonin release is a big part of tram addiction and u r getting pleny from the AD's...it may be best to talk to ur dr about it as 2 days off and going back and tapering now???? dunno....200 mgs..
Avatar m tn Cymbalta is an SNRI which may make a difference for you. I took it for about 2 years and had no side effects.
Avatar f tn Has anyone tried or currently use Cymbalta for Fibromyalgia. My primary care Dr. wants me to try it for my pain. I have glaucoma, it's under controlled but im still afraid to take it because of the side affects. Im in so much pain most of the time. I also have non hodgkns lymphoma and sarcoidosis and both are in remission , and I pray I can get some kind of relief. I really would like to hear some input on this.
Avatar n tn What can be done about the chronic Fibromyalgia pain when I am allergic to pain medicines or the pain relievers do not give relief.
Avatar f tn of Lyrica, it has helped a great deal with the numbing, bone pain and nerve pain. It has not helped much with the muscle pain for me. I was asked to try Cymbalta for 2 weeks..which I did and it helped a very little, barely noticible. But it robbed me of my spirit. I didn't laugh or goof around anymore. I'm generally a happy person at the core...this FM is a pain in the...everywhere! Back to the Cymbalta...it also constipated me for the 2 weeks I tried it. Not fun.
Avatar f tn Burning pain tends to be caused by neuropathic pain. It's very common with Fibromyalgia and also with spinal issues. What types of medication are you currently taking for your pain?
Avatar f tn Hey Suzy. Welcome to the forum. Oxycodone @ 10mg injected will produce the SAME results as morphine for most people. I'm mentioning this to point out that these types of drugs are opioid drugs, potentially habit forming narcotic drugs. The fact that they are prescribed legally, does not make them any less dangerous than street drugs, other than the fact that their "quality" and strength are consistent with what they claim.
Avatar f tn I have fibromyalgia and so does my mother. From what I have learned it can stay the way it is now for the rest of your life or it can get worse. Try to stay on a daily routine sleep when your tired and don't overdue yourself, the best you can do is take good care of yourself hoping to help it not get worse. Very true, as bad as it gets for you.
394774 tn?1235070839 I had some lyrica left before being prescribed the cymbalta and noticed that by taking only one cymbalta in the morning and one of the left over lyrica at night with the AmbienCr I have been feeling a whole lot better. If the weather is bad then I take Vicodin for pain as needed. So maybe it just may work for you and in that sense.
Avatar m tn I have been on Lyrica and Cymbalta for the fibromyalgia and that has helped my pain level somewhat. I also take Zanaflex (a muscle relaxer) to help with sleep, pain and the back tension. When was your last MRI? I would try to have a recent one to rule out future degeneration. I am in constant pain but when I experience a flare up of my fibromyalgia; it intensifies the pain ten fold. I wish you luck and in the absence of medication I would try to take ibuprofen. Good luck.
1205402 tn?1268220272 hi, I am 31 years old and I have had pain all over since this summer and it has gotten worst since the fall. My doctor thinks I have fibromyalgia because my blood tests are normal. For the past 3 nights I ahave been waking up at least 3 to 5 times per night because of pain everywhere. I work full time and I have two small children. It is very difficult for me to try to pace myself to save my energy. I am always tired. What could I do to help?
Avatar n tn I use Cymbalta for abdomen, neck and hand pain and Fibromyalgia. It does a good job for me. There are some unpleasant side effects such as nausea and being light headed upon standing being the worst for me. I tried Neurontin and Lyrica. I couldn't take the side effects from either of those two. I've experienced life without Cymbalta. Without it my pains levels are considerably higher. My mood is much better on it.
1290770 tn?1272075535 Cymbalta works for some and doesn't work for others. Personally, after a while of taking it I did start having thoughts of death. I thought it was because my pain was so horrible and nobody seemed to understand. But my husband pointed out to me that I hadn't been acting this bad before I started taking Cymbalta. I would ask someone to watch you or even keep a journal of your thoughts/feelings throughout the process so you can look back and monitor any changes yourself as well.
177382 tn?1253041140 Cymbalta is currently being prescribed like crazy for fibromyalgia because it has been approved for the treatment of fibro. My doctor wrote me a prescription for it, but I have not tried it because I have panic-type symptoms on occasion. I have read that it may not be good if you experience panic attacks, but if your issues are pain and depression without panic, it may help. Cymbalta works differently than paxil, so you may not experience the same issues.
1023657 tn?1251844941 One of them is exercise. Fibromyalgia pain is muscle pain and the most important therapy for muscle pain is regular, gentle and low-impact exercise. It keeps muscles conditioned and healthy and decreases the amount of discomfort. It is very important to try low-stress exercises such as walking, swimming, water aerobics, and biking rather than straining exercises such as weight training. Heavy exercises worsen the symptoms.
