1258539 tn?1293840202 I have been living with severe anxiety and depression along with depersonalization for the last 6 months. I just started cymbalta 60mg. Was wondering if anyone thinks this might help with the anxiety and depersonalization feelings?
Avatar n tn I was on paxil for almost 20 years for depression and panic. MD switched me to Cymbalta. He said it is possible for you to get used to meds after being on them long term. Is that true, cannot find much info. on that. The problem is the Cymbalta was better with my depression but seems to increase my anxiety and cause me excessive sweating, esp in social situations. Does the sweating sound like a common side effect for SNRI?
Avatar f tn this med does not work for anxiety, it can make it worse. i was on it for 2 months and could'nt sleep, eat and my anxiety was throught the roof. it really sounds like you need a different med. that nurse shoud'nt have treated you that way. take care.
1348086 tn?1370783185 Prozac tends to be better for depression than for anxiety, but then, so is Cymbalta, since both are also stimulating (Cymbalta much more so). On the other hand, if Prozac works, it's probably the least troublesome of all these meds. Cymbalta is liver toxic for many and one of the hardest to get off of, while Prozac is one of the easiest to come off of since it stays in the body for a lot longer time and therefore the withdrawal is, for most people, slower and easier.
Avatar m tn i suffer from these three things. depression and stress for a long time. extreme anxiety this past month. can these disorders cause fibromyalgia?
Avatar n tn What are you being treated for? Wellbutrin is for depression, not anxiety, it is stimulating; cymbalta can be stimulating because it not only targets serotonin but also norepinephrine; and geodon is for bipolar. You're on a fourth drug, ativan, which is strictly for anxiety, and you're taking tyrosine, which is also for depression, not anxiety; the amino acid for anxiety would be taurine. So again, what are you treating primarily?
Avatar m tn Hello, I have been on 10mg of Lexapro since September 2010 and I must admit that is has helped with anxiety and depression. At first i had energy and didn;t have sleep issues but for the past couple of months i've been very sluggish and groggy. The doc decided to switch me to Cymbalta. I will start at 30mg and work my way up to 60 mg. I'm a little concerned about making the switch because it makes me wonder if the whole gettting on a medication process will take place all over again.
1226682 tn?1399937724 it worked, very well in fact, was the first medicine to work for me for depression and anxiety. however it became extremely addicting for me. if i just miss a couple days my depression and anxiety attacks come back full throttle along with other withdrawl symptoms such as intense migraine, nausea, hot flashes/chills, etc. worst feeling ever. i have decided to start weening off this medication, but i can only go down small steps. i am a small girl tho. i was on 60-90mg.
314833 tn?1263259499 I am currently on cymbalta I was placed on this for depression, anxiety and just had a hysterectomy and not able to start hormones right away, and doctor thought it would help...I am just wondering about side affects of others... I am having really bad "jerking movements in my legs, hips and the shakes really bad...has anyone had these side affects or heard of them?
983594 tn?1249672009 Norephinepherine Reuptake Inhibitors like Cymbalta are great for Major depression with anxiety, but not so great if the person only suffers anxiety. The reason is because SNRI's like Cymbalta are more stimulating than the SSRI drugs. You may want to ask your doctor about Lexapro. It is a very potent SSRI and is less stimulating than an SNRI would be and it may do better for just anxiety.
Avatar n tn I was on lexapro 10mg for a year, then stopped, and started to take it again for a little over a month and it no longer worked for my anxiety. So I slowly weaned off the lexapro and switched to cymbalta. For a week i took 5 mg of lexapro and a 30mg cymbalta. Now I am at a therapeutic dosage of 60mg cymbalta. And I also take clonozapem up to 3 times a day if I have panic attacks. Lexapro gave me gastroinstestinal side effects.
1717715 tn?1318297295 Hey guys, I know its more of a "varies from person to person" kind of thing, but has anyone had any experience with the SSNRI Cymbalta? either good or bad? any side affects? etc... I dont suffer from any depression, just anxiety and panic attacks out of the blue. I'm on Klonopin now but the doc prescribed me the cymbalta and told me if i wanted, i could fill it and try it.
Avatar m tn got even worse, and depression now saw dr yesterday and he gave me cymbalta to start taking 30 mg for 1 week and 60 mg next 2 and added 0.5 xanax 3 times a day and to continue taking the 1 mg of klonopin twice a day. i understand the greif process and everything i am going through have talke to grief couns and they agreed that i needed something to assist the klonopin, but is the addition of cylmbalta and xanax safe.
2064754 tn?1333375663 There are different types and classes of medication that people are prescribed for anxiety and depression. There are faster actiing meds like Xanax and Ativan that are used on an as needed basis and are usually prescribed more short term and then there are medications like Zoloft and Prozac (SSRIs) that are prescribed more long term and taken on a regular basis. While these are only two types, there are also multiple other classes of medications that are used in the treatment of both.
Avatar m tn I currently take clonazepam, 1mg three times daily for anxiety. As a teenager I was diagnosed with clinical depression and up until one year ago I was on and off various anti-depressants. Things fell apart when I was feeling depressed, and the my medication level was raised. I was on cymbalta 60mg a day, and was moved to cymbalta 90mg a day. I believe that caused a huge increase in suicidal thoughts, and I began to abuse oxycontin, whenever I could afford it.
3547166 tn?1347814000 I have recently been prescribed Cymbalta and I would like to know if it is a good treatment for Anxiety and Depression. Thank you in advance for any informtion.
Avatar f tn I'm going to assume you mean you drive 220 miles to see this doctor. My one and only suggestion would be for you to drive an EXTRA 220 miles or an extra 440, or HOWEVER many you have to and get yourself to a large city and consult with a doctor there. Your rural doc has been playing ping pong with your mental health and it's time to RUN AWAY! He is a moron and a quack. I live in a very rural area as well, we have a doctor here we call "Dr.
Avatar m tn I have recently been struggling w/ more intense anxiety and depression and irritability. I am switching from Paxil to Cymbalta, and am down from 30 mg of Paxil to 5 mg, and then up to 60 mg of Cymbalta. I feel like I am having a racing heart/palpitations. I am not sure if it's anxiety, Paxil withdrawal, side effects from Cymbalta, or there is something wrong with my heart. Has anyone switched from Paxil to Cymbalta (weaning off/increasing at same time.) If so, did you have any issues?
Avatar f tn I'm wondering if anybody has had experience in taking Cymbalta for anxiety and depression. I took Lexapro for several years and it stopped working, so I tried Zoloft this summer, which didn't help my anxiety at all, so now I'm back on the Lexapro and Buspar. I feel better than I did a few months ago in terms of anxiety, but nowhere near as well as I did in the past, and now my depression is horrible.
Avatar f tn has anyone tried this before for anxiety what were the side affects and did it help thanks in advance how long did it take to work
Avatar n tn Hi Stacey, I have been taking Cymbalta for about fours now for anxiety and I have to say that It has not been that effective for me, I am currently in talks with my Phychiatrist about changing it. They feel that I should stay on it for longer to see the results but in my opinion four months should be long enough for something to work if it is going to.
Avatar f tn Hi Brook, I hope that is you name, thankyou so much for the feedback, it is a relief to have someone explain things from human to human, doctors are sometimes inhuman I am on Diaformin for my diabetes 250ml once daily because it got all messed up when I had to take antibiotics for about 4 months for another condition called intestitial cystitis which was diagnosed by a gyno, I take Ternormin for my abnormal heart beat, I take Nexium for reflux, I take Antenex to help me sleep, and lipitor for ch
Avatar f tn If you were abusing drugs as a way of self medicating for anxiety or depression (which is quite common), then it might not be a bad idea to try the Cymbalta. Either way, you have to address that initial depression/anxiety. If you choose to do it without meds, then be sure you're seeking therapy. If you were taking Cymbalta for depression/anxiety related to detox, then that's a bit different...some say it's better to let the brain heal on its own. Anyway...
480448 tn?1426948538 I was on Cymbalta and had excellent results, no anxiety or depression. I switched to a less espensive one, but am going to go back to the Cymbalta which worked better for me. I understand you wanting to know everyone's experience with this, but know that your experience may be totally different.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone! Iv been taking celexa for the last four years for depression and anxiety and my doctor wants me to try Cymbalta as my celexa is no longer working and I have been suffering from pain that they believe is nerve related. Iv ready alot of reviews on this drug and not sure if its something I want to take, then again, iv read really good reviews on it. Anyone out there ever taken this drug and if so how was your experience with it.
1442059 tn?1340240952 I have depression and anxiety. I did try Cymbalta and it helped with my depression but did nothing for my anxiety so I quit taking it. The above poster is right, this med is stimulating so if you do decide to take it start at the lowest dose possible. You might want to consider taking an antidepressant that helps both anxiety and depression. Keep us up to date and let us know what you decide to do. We're here for you.
Avatar n tn I would stop taking it, but most importantly you need to talk with the prescribing Dr and let them know that you are expecting. They should be able to advise you on an alternative. When I was on a bunch of prescription meds for my fibro, depression, anxiety, hbp, and Sjögren's I ended up losing that baby..
Avatar m tn So, I started taking B12 shots. 3ml per twice a week for 4 weeks; then 2ml twice per week for 8 weeks; now 1ml twice per week and continuing. Don't let anyone tell you to take lower doses. There are absolutely no side effects or biological consequences with doses of B12. And no side effects with Cymbalata. What a wonderful relief from my depression. Thanks all for your positive thoughts. I'd love to hear form you.
