MY opinion would be to wait it out a little bit, give the Cymbalta some more time (you may even need a higher dose) before trying the Abilify. Are you in therapy? Have you ever looked into ECT? I know that seems extreme, but depending on how long you've been trying to manage the treatment resistant depression unsuccessfully with medications, it really MAY be a valid option to explore with your doctor anyway.

Should I expect an increase in anxiety and depression? During the time I need to wait for the Cymbalta ti kick in (6 - 8 weeks) should I expect what I went through with the Lexapro? Meaning lots of ups and downs? Thanks.

Oh, it'll help alright but you'll have a hard time getting off or you may choose to never get off. I was changed from Zoloft after taking it for 10 yrs to Cymbalta for aches and pains (I'm 63) and arthritis. It helped but I tried to get off and felt like a steamroller ran over me until I told doctor after a mo and he put me back on it and the aches stopped.

So I slowly weaned off the lexapro and switched to cymbalta. For a week i took 5 mg of lexapro and a 30mg cymbalta. Now I am at a therapeutic dosage of 60mg cymbalta. And I also take clonozapem up to 3 times a day if I have panic attacks. Lexapro gave me gastroinstestinal side effects. While as Cymbalta now seems to give me sleep troubles/insomnia. However, sometimes the medication outweighs the side effects.

If memory serves me correct 90Mgs a day of Cymbalta is the maximum effective dosage. This basicaly means that in clinical trials any more than 90Mgs of Cymbalta was not shown to produce any further impact on the symptoms of the subjects depression. In my case I found Cymbalta to be the least effective of the SNRI group of SNRI drugs.

I wanted to know if anyone has been taking effexor for nearly a year my dosage is 150mg twice a day. Now my psychiatrist wants to put me on Cymbalta. He told me that it takes time for my body to accept the change and for a couple of weeks I won't have much of either in my system. I don't know what dosage is yet. I am wondering if I am doing the right thing. I have been battling severe depression and chronic pain for years. If anyone has any advice, I would appreciate it.

Has anyone tried or currently use Cymbalta for Fibromyalgia. My primary care Dr. wants me to try it for my pain. I have glaucoma, it's under controlled but im still afraid to take it because of the side affects. Im in so much pain most of the time. I also have non hodgkns lymphoma and sarcoidosis and both are in remission , and I pray I can get some kind of relief. I really would like to hear some input on this.

You also moved up on Zoloft dosage very quickly, leaving you no time to get used to it. All in all, it doesn't sound like the safest or most careful way to do this and certainly not done in a way that lets you know what's truly happening and what will truly work or not.

I have a really hard time sleeping. This has been a problem forever. My pdoc and I have have tried many combinations of medication. Latest is Seroquel XR and Trazadone. On the flip side, we are using Cymbalta to help me "wake up". I've noticed a really hard time concentrating in the morning hours, extremely tired, and having "time warps" where I just zone out.

I was recently prescribed Cymbalta for severe Anxiety. I am taking it but I haven't been on it long enough for it to start working yet. Does anyone have any personal experience with this medication? Ok so I have been taking Klonopin along with Cymbalta for a good 6 months. I started off taking .5 mg of klonopin about 1-2 times a day. Naturally over the months I started to gain tolerence to the drug. Now I take about 1mg of klonopin but just once a day. I notice this is starting to lose its effectivness now. If I taper down slowly can I gain effectiveness? Also how are klonopin withdrawl symptoms? I was on xanax for a while before this and I got off it with no problem.

Since he was already used to taking the valum, I am concerned that the combo with cymbalta is the problem. Perhaps the dosage is too high? What should we do until we can get to the MD?

I am currently on Cymbalta and the doctor increased my dosage but I am still having problems sometimes with depression. Does anyone have any suggestions on what medications would work with someone that is also diabetic with thyroid, neuropathy, asthma and allergies?

Hi - I have been on cymbalta for about 6 weeks now after about 3 years of being depressed . I am 50 years old and the medication seems to be working sometimes. I have a good day and then the next day I feel depressed and don't want to get out of bed - like I was before cymbalta. Is this normal, have I bben on the medication long enough for it to hellp..

The average dose for Cymbalta is 60mg per day, and although some doctors do prescribe it 120mg per day...there is no evidence to prove that it helps any more than the 60 mg per day. The maximim dose for Prozac is 80mg per day so you're still below the highest dosage on that one. I doubt your doctor will increase the Cymbalta anymore, and if he tries to...find another doctor! On Cymbalta long time, no effect on my weight. Hope your Doc chooses a medication that suits your symptoms though. But yes Cymbalta on and off for five years and no problem, same weight. I dont weigh myself often am fairly active and have never dieted or watched what i eat.

Im currently on Cymbalta and I just got my dosage upped to 60 mg. Do anti depressants noticably make you happier / less anxiety. Or do you not notice it at all....

Would you recommend stopping Effexor and switching to Cymbalta? Will Cymbalta reduce the withdrawal effect? My daughters were both recently put on Cymbalta, and their depression is much better, and they claim they are "thinking more clearly". Thanks for your input.

For anyone that Cymbalta has worked well for... what dosage worked for you? Dr. wants daughter to start with 30 and go to 60 after 4 days but my thinking is to see if 30 will work and give it a few weeks... why go to 60 if not necessary.

Could anyone give me insight or advice on Cymbalta? Today my doc switched me from Effexor to Cymbalta because I have chronic back pain and she felt the Effexor was not helping me at all. My main concern is stopping the Effexor. Has anyone switched like this before? I want to know if I should still expect the intense Effexor withdrawal symptoms such as brain zapping, nausea, dizziness, and crying spells. Any advice would greatly help. I want to know what I'm getting myself in to!

I took Cymbalta for a short time and experienced no side effects from it. But we know that everyone reacts differently to these types of meds. Unless you have had problems with these types of meds, I wouldn't worry about when and what will happen, because you truly won't know until you start taking it. Hopefully, you will do just fine. Did your doctor seem to believe you may be depressed? Maybe he/she sensed this and thought the Cymbalta would help, although Cymbalta has been used to treat fibro as well. I'm not sure why you would be prescribed both of these medications if your only complaint was of pain, but it is something you should speak with your physician about to clear up any misunderstandings or concerns you may have. I hope you can get an answer and that they find something that will be of help to you.

Its horrible. Was suppose to up my dosage today but didnt. For the past 3 to 4 days i have been really moody and mean. I feel all balled up and anxiety. Really bad racy hart, shakes. Im stopping it tho. No more cymbalta.

awful side-effects. Lyrica, well, I was on that for quite some time, they kept upping the dosage, but it really did not help. I am currently on Cymbalta, 90mg; which I have to take in 2 pills (60 & 30) because they don't make a 90mg. Anyway, the Cymbalta doesn't really seem to help all that much either... Now, they said I should take Lyrica AND Cymbalta together. I haven't had the script filled yet, so I don't know how that will be, but, I have heard that it helps some.
