cymbalta and savella

Because if you are weaning down off of the Cymbalta and beginning the Savella, this might make more sense? To pull you off your Cymbalta abruptly might shock your system.

I tried cymbalta up to 120mg which did not work and now savella. In just 24 hrs, savella has totally messed me up. I am extremely depressed and angry, alot of pain and nausea. The depression and anger is my biggest concern. Has anyone else experienced this in just a 24 hour period? I took the savella in the morning and literally felt the difference in me throughout the day. I never felt this way in the 2.5 yrs before getting diagnosed. This is horrible and very scary.

I have been on Savella for about 2 months and have not noticed the mood swings, but then again I take Pristiq along with it, so that may have something to do with me NOT having mood swings? Also, I had really bad sweats when I first started Savella, but that seems to have worked itself out and now I notice it only happens about once a week! HUGE improvement to the everyday drenched feeling! I would agree you should call the Dr.

making me feel worse and ache more....I need something without that side effect....have been on Cymbalta too ....will savella take the place of both?

Has anyone with pre existing hypertension & fibro tried savella? If so, has your bp spiked at all? I'm afraid to try it for that reason. I took Pristiq for about 4 weeks and my blood pressure which was well under control went out of control, so I had to get off the medicine. I know it works in the same ways, and I know everyone is different, I'm just checking. I previously tried Lyrica & Cymbalta, which both made me feel worse than I did with the Fibro and Fatigue.

i tried cymbalta and it did nothing. itried savella and it actually helped me a little bit. i was able to cut back 1/2 to 1 pain killer a lot of days. i didn't stay on it because i couldn't afford it when we lost our insurance. i am normally hyper-sensitive to side effects and i didn't get any from savella.

I was on Savella for over a year-- and it helped with my FM, but I also have bipolar d/o--- which caused the Savella to make me extremely paranoid. I was afraid to go out of my own house into the yard even. It was hell!!! I got off the Savella-- but it took me many monthes to get rid of the paranoia it had caaused. My Psych MD told me that this was a common occurance in people with bipolar d/o taking Savella.... Geez!!!

I'm wondering if anyone has heard (or ever used) a drug called Savella. I'm looking for non-narcotic treatments for pain and a nurse friend mentioned it to me. I looked it up and found there can be some withdrawal from it but according to what I read, if you taper off, it's fine. Becoming dependent on oxycodone has left me worried about trying anything that says you need to taper off it, even if it's not a narcotic.

I started taking Savella about 2 months ago and I REALLy love it! My mother also has FMS and also has loved Savella. She tried it before i did and once she had such success with it, i finally had the resove to get off the Cymbalta. I've never taken Lyrica but i have a friend who takes Lyrica as pain management for Deep Vein Thrombosis and he tells me it works very well for him. For the CFS i have taken Adderall XR for almost 6 years and it is the only thing that has worked for me.

hmmm....that's what I'm worried about with it. Definately not what I want to find out on my trip. :) I will try it, but jumpy is not what I want to add to my anxiety issues! I also ready that Cymbalta helps with Dopamine and Savella doesn't. And my understanding is that Dopamine helps with pain. Interesting. Sara - I will definately keep you posted on my experience with it. Have you tried Voltaren Gel? I love it!!

You may be able to handle the Prozac since it only affects the serotonin, or something similar to it (a SSRI) if you have trouble with the SNRIs like Cymbalta, Savella or Effexor. I would talk to your doctor and see what he/she thinks. Good luck.

I just started Cymbalta today because I have been hurting so bad with fibro and muscle aches and pains in joints. Lyrica makes me eat way to much and I have not tried cymbalta longer than a few weeks at a time, but I have to do something. I am doing new lab work tomorrow morning. I have not tested my labs in a year and a half so I wanted to do that. I was wondering if maybe my thyroid was not right.I have many symptoms of that seems like.

Personally, I had to wean off Savella and I am not on Cymbalta and doing ok. I also take Gabapentin for the PN. Good luck and I hope you get some help. You sound like a very caring husband - she is lucky for that. I have one too and am so grateful.

My doctor changed me to Savella a couple months ago and increased it slowly will I was decreasing my cymbalta. Now I am on Savella, lexapro, and lyrica. I take 5000UNT of vitamin D3 every day as well. I take adavan at night to help calm and relax me so I can sleep. I feel much better overall but my med changes are still new; I do have a better sense of well being. "Flare Up's" have occurred less so I am happy thus far but I haven't lost any weight.

May I ask whay your reaction was to taking Cymbalta and Savella together was? You can send me a private message if you don't want to post it. I was trying to go off of Cymbalta and onto Savella and my best description of it was "a living hell." I ended up at the doctors office telling her that my brain was broken. Wondering if your experience was similar.

Looking for info on Sarvella? Wondering if anyone has taken it for Fibro and if it helped? Thinking about discussing this med with my MD but was wondering the pros and cons from a personal experience? I have tried Cymbalta (recently tapered off) but did not feel any different on it. Would like to know if anyone else had insomnia worsen and if so, did you continue to take Savella and did your body get used to drug and insomnia resolved? I am wanting to wait and see if it will subside in another week or so as I am having much less pain, I did the titration pack but have kept my 50 mg dose twice a day at 2/3 of the pill, so around 37.5 mg twice a day.

I started with pain to touch on right side of spine and now very sore to touch on only top part of legs. Also, started having headaches on right side. They have tried Cymbalta and now Savella and it doesn't seem to be working. The soreness to touch is getting worse. Is there something I could suggest to the dr. to try?

When I take Savella and Pristiq together, it works wonders. When both my pain dr and my psychiatrist got together and said I couldn't take them together, I became very depressed after getting off of Savella. I didn't want to kill myself, but I sure didn't want to live. Lyrica put me to sleep in horrible ways, Cymbalta doesn't work for me and anything like Prozac or Lexapro or Zoloft is candy to me. I also take Norco.

I have tried celebrex, Lyrica, Cymbalta and Savella and none of these provide me with any relief. The only thing that helps is Oxycontin, but drs. are relunctant to prescribe on an ongoing basis. Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

I guess another option would be to stick out the Savella and try the Provigil with it and see how that goes. That way you wouldn't be changing too much while your still getting used to your Plaquenil. If that doesn't help after a couple more weeks you could switch to the Effexor. It's hard to gauge new medications when your on multiple ones. I like to try and keep the changes to a minimum if I can that way I know which one was doing what. Good luck and keep us updated!

So this is my second time trying Cymbalta. I was on it about 6 months ago and didn't think it did much for my pain. I have fibromyalgia. My PMD then had me try Savella which I did not do well on, so back to Cymbalta. Now I have realized that it does help with my anxiety but I really think I crave alcohol when I am on it. I am not a big drinker, but last time I was on it I started to crave it. When I went off of the Cymbalta the craving went away.

I have Fibromyalgia and horrible pelvic pain. My doctor just startedd me on Savella. Does anyone have any experiences with this new med they want to share with me?

Has anybody ever tried cymbalta or savella and does it help ,quickly sigh....I have been on 3ml of ativan a day for 3 years (too long) in hopes that I would be able to find a SSRI to help so I could wean off as it doesnt do much anymore and makes me cold brrr....With fibro it makes one more sensitive to meds and I find the SSRI's make my fibro worse.

I have sever depression, anxiety, and fibro. I am currently on Savella, which seems to have worked somewhat well for fibro and depression. Unfortunately, what I cant control is the anxiety. I cant work. The PA Ive been seeing for the last 18 years wont even give me ten xanax a month, so I can rarely go out. I dont know if increasing the Savella will help calm the anxiety or not?

I also felt allergic to it, red eyes, rash,etc.. So now my shrink and rheumy are suggesting the new med Savella, to start at a very low dose which is 12.5 according to the titration pack.Its known that fibro patients are very sensitive to meds,which explains why I have had such a hard time tolerating the many I have tried the past 5 years.
