After hurricane katrina i developed all kinds of panic anxiety disorders and attacks. I relocated to D.C. where I had good insurance and an ok psychiatrist. Now I'm back in new orleans, where all GOODpsychiatrists have a 6 month or more waiting list. because of ALL THE DEVISTATION ETC. I am seeing a general practitioner because that;s the only appt. I could get. I had only enough clonzepam from the d.c dr. to last me till the next dr. visit in N.O. I don't know if the G.P.
I have read that it may not be good if you experience panic attacks, but if your issues are pain and depression without panic, it may help. Cymbalta works differently than paxil, so you may not experience the same issues. I think everyone is "wired" differently, so it's difficult to know what exactly it will do without trying it. I have had the experience more than once of taking an antidepressant which is suppose to sedate me so I can sleep, actually make me more awake.
2nd Dr diag depression and prescribed Cymbalta. On 30mg Cymbalta, symptoms back to the same to worse as before Xanax, to which he added .25mg Zyprexa which now gives similar relief to Xanax. Negative side effect is 2% weight gain/month and lethargy with Zyprexa, so stopped it. Back to same negative original panic attack symptoms once back on Cymbalta alone. Increasing to 60mg. Cymbalta no help. Once again back to adding the .
Sounds are too loud, lights to bright. I'm sometimes not sure what is real. I've been diagnosed with Panic Disorder and Depression. Anybody else have these symptoms and feel like there must be something wrong with your brain?
I have been living with severe anxiety and depression along with depersonalization for the last 6 months. I just started cymbalta 60mg. Was wondering if anyone thinks this might help with the anxiety and depersonalization feelings?
I am always worried about fainting, and health related illnesses, which I’m told is from having a heart condition from birth. My ROCD and Panic Disorder are killing me. Please offer me advice. I am so sick of the negative thoughts that I have when it comes to my girlfriend. I can’t take it anymore. It makes me feel like I cant access that love part of my brain.
I took Cymbalta to treat panic disorder. The pain side of it is usually used to treat diabetic neuropathy, if I am not mistaken it helps with anxiety related pain such as headaches and muscle spasms caused by tension. The package insert does warn that Cymbalta can cause arrhythmias. While I was on it I had a 24 hour holter. The results were really bad and I told my cardio then that I was on Cymbalta.
I'm 57 year old male and have been on pain meds for five years due to disc issues, stenosis, severe arthritis, and fibromyalgia. Has anyone else had experience with taking Cymbalta and Abilify?
, i also have a past history of diagnosed anorexia and bulimia, bipolar, depression and panic disorder. I am also on lamictal for bipolar and xanax for panic attacks. my resting heart rate has been going up to 130 when on adderall, which is kinda weird because i'm a dancer,i used to dance 5 days away at my studio and about 15 hours a week. i haven't been dancing as much lately though because of my depression.
I have been on 60mg of Cymbalta for generalized anxiety disorder and feelings of panic for sometime now. This is the 3rd med I have tried, and none of them have seemed to work too well. My doctor switched me to 15mg of Buspar twice daily. I stopped the Cymbalta and started the Buspar at the same time. Well, the Cymbalta withdrawls started within two days and were completely unbarable.
Everything I read about panic disorder, or panic attacks, anxiety, etc says that a panic attack comes on, peaks, and wanes. If that were true for me, I think I would be able to handle it.
I am wondering if anyone knows of any natural products that are known to help with panic disorder and/or anxiety that might be worth trying. I'm thinking maybe I'll try something like that first and if that doesn't work, I'll give Cymbalta a try again. My depression is not really bad at this point, I just have low motivation, am tired often, restless, have a hard time concentrating, etc. Not suicidal or crying all the time...I can deal with it without meds in other words.
I am finally putting all the problems together and see that I have most of the same problems that ya'll have talked about. The pain, anxiety, depression and of course the fibro. I was taking cymbalta and it worked at first or so it seemed but for about a year now it just seems it has done nothing for me. My doctor gave me the savella last week and in a week i have been turned around mentally and physically. I hope anyone that is given this med can take it and it works well for you.
Has anyone out there had any experience with this, please note that I do suffer from anxiety and prior to going onto cymbalta had quite a few panic attacks. These have stopped as a result of the drug, but I really don't like this depression. It was christmas last weekend and I spent the weekend sleeping, too miserable to go out, its very hot here in Oz and of course it is manageable when the a/c is on and I am lying on the bed sleeping...
I have found that Effexor stopped my panics and anxiety and depression. I have no experience of Cymbalta. I am so sorry you are having so many problems.
He said the klonopin was a band-aid, and the Cymbalta will really start fixing the problem with my neuro-transmitters and serotonin or whatever. He said that Cymbalta could initially CAUSE anxiety (which is apparently what I have), so the Klonopin will help with that. He also said I should take the full prescription for the Klonopin (.25mg three times a day). I'm really not wanting to go on all these drugs, and wanting to get better on my own.
I was wondering if anyone here went on meds for your Depression and now has caused you to have Panic Disorder, or Anxiety etc...due to the medicine????????? I think this happened to me because it occured 4 days after i started meds...or maybe its just a coincedence.
Am I on the right medication, what is my disorder, and what advice can I get to pull myself back out of this hole and begin building myself into a sane and productive person who isn't scared all of the time and feeling terrible physical effects?
If you have a panic disorder, you should be put on a SSRI like the Paxil, Zoloft, Prozac, Luvox, Celexa or Lexapro... if you can't tolerate them or if the panic disorder don't improve after at 8 weeks at the maximum dose, you should switch to another agent like the older TCA's (Imipramine, Clomipramine)... since the TCA's have more side effects, they are harder to start and they increase a lot the anxiety at first...
I have Lorazapam for when I get panic attacks, but im not on a daily med. I've heard Cymbalta is wonderful for GAD. What about Effexor? Thanks!
I would like to know if Depersonalization disorder is a real and distinct disorder? I see thousands of articles online about it, and active discussion forums about it. I believe I have it because I have severe chronic symptoms of derealization, the symptoms I have are exactly as the disease is described....but I keep getting diagnosed with everything BUT this disorder....panic disorder, depression, even schizoaffective disorder.
Low dose of Zoloft for a week(50mg) while taking low dose Cymbalta for a week(30mg). Week 2- stop Cymbalta and start 100mg Zoloft. Appx Feb 8, I had a horrible panic attack (hadn't had one in YEARS). Then everything snowballed- anxiety, agitation, feeling crazy, disconnected, frightened. Called Psych & got in. Apparently Zoloft not a good med for me. I said I wanted the Cymbalta back (she suggested Cymbalta, Pristiq, Effexor- all SNRI's which maybe my body likes?
But everything I've ever heard about panic attacks says that people always feel like they're having heart attacks, or they start *really* freaking out (my mom has a panic disorder and I've seen some of her episodes, so I've always associated that with panic attacks, I guess).
What is the best medication for panic attacks and anxiety disorder with the least side effects? My doctor put me on Prozac but I had insomnia so now I am on Remeron 15mg. for second week, it makes mefeel groggy and I have memory loss.
I need some advice on what to try next. What medications have worked for Panic Disorder? Do my symptoms..brain fog, panic, chest pains, tingling sensations, foot pain and chronic dizziness sound like anything anyone else has experienced? Please help me.....
I have both anxiety and depression. I also have panic attacks. Cymbalta is not good if you are prone to panic attacks. I've tried natural remedies for both including SAM-e, Anxiety Control which is comprised of several herbs and amino acids along with GABA, and 5-htp. The SAM-e worked for a while with depression, then it seemed to cause insomnia. I was probably on too high of a dose (400mg). I may try it again at a lower dose. Anxiety Control helps if you are willing to take 6 pills a day.
These evolved into PTSD/borderline Agoraphobia/Chronic Depression/Panic Disorder. In addition, over the past 2 yrs., I've been dx'd w/Fibro; Osteoarthritis & Diverticulitis.I have been on Diazepam (Valium) 5 mg. & Alprazolam (Xanax) 2 mg. for 5 yrs. I have become a virtual shut-in; combined iwth my physical conditions & other meds (Gabapentin/Cymbalta/Metaxalone), I am fatigued, sleep a lot, lethargic & suffer bouts of "Fibro fog" & fed up!
I was given Clonazepam for help through the first month or so, and it helped me sleep and avoid major panic attacks... The paxil and prozac are drugs that will hopefully work all/most of the time, instead of having to take short acting ones like ativan or clonazepam... So...this is pretty normal I think, and you'll probably feel much better soon. I did feel CRAZY for the first month, and even when I switched to prozac to try that (because of Paxil weight gain) I felt CRAZY...
