cymbalta

924711 tn?1290266557 Your individual sensitivity to a toxin is an unknown (and hep c makes your liver work less well so damage is greater). Research beyong the manufacturer's label. You will rarely find liver damage from the drug listed even in the rare side effects section of the label. You will find references to liver damage by a drug in professional papers but you'll need to dig. Good luck on your search.
Avatar m tn have broadened a warning about possible liver problems with Cymbalta, a drug used to treat depression and pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy. "Postmarketing reports of liver injury (including hepatitis and cholestatic jaundice) suggest that patients with pre-existing liver disease who take [Cymbalta] may have an increased risk for further liver damage," says the FDA. Cymbalta's labeling previously noted possible liver problems.
Avatar f tn While we should always try to take the minimum of meds because of our liver damage - you have to remember we live in a real world and we gotta do what we gotta do. Hopefully the doctor is smart enough to give you medications that are metabolized in the kidneys instead of the liver and so your liver isn't being put under additional strain. You can always ask them to double check on that.
Avatar n tn Namaste, Cymbalta is an antidepressant in a group of drugs called selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SSNRIs). Cymbalta works by restoring the balance of certain natural substances in the brain (serotonin and norepinephrine), which helps to improve certain mood problems. Cymbalta is used to treat major depressive disorder and general anxiety disorder. It is also used to treat pain caused by nerve damage in people with diabetes (diabetic neuropathy).
217229 tn?1192762404 OK. I went to this VERY nice Doctor in Anchorage. At first she let me know that she "THOUGHT" I had bad posture, was overweight and had carpal tunnel which was what was causing my pain - but that she was going to run some tests. I went back to the hotel thinking --- woohoooooo! I can lose 25 lbs --- I'll be a slimmer me... I'll sit up straight --- and I'll get those gellie keyboard thingies... Wooohooooo! I CAN FIX THIS....
Avatar f tn From perusing the comments with its ses of anxiety, tremors, facial nmbness, and links to liver damage( black box warning) it seems like you would be better off not takng Cymbalta. Go off of it gradually.
Avatar f tn I was on percocet lyrica and cymbalta. Once the nerve damage got better I stopped the lyrica and cymbalta. After going back to work after surgery, I was afraid of taking percocet (im a teacher) so the dr gave me tramadol. 2 weeks ago I had steroidal injections in my pelvis and asked for something stronger because the tramadol wasnt working. I only take the vicodin at night, but it doesnt get rid of the pain.
Avatar n tn All ssris and snris have as a common side effect increased bleeding and bruising. It's why they warn against using NSAIDS when you're on them except under a doctor's care. But I would be concerned if it's happening this soon after starting, and I'd also look into the recent concern over liver problems and Cymbalta. I'd talk to my psychiatrist and do some homework to see if this is the best med for you.
12714324 tn?1426848387 My dr is trying me on all sorts of meds for my depression/anxiety. He didn't want me on 40mg of lexapro for the concern of my liver but he prescribes effexor and xanax. Don't he know that I could get liver damage with over the counter med. I have been on effexor for two days now I can't sleep. I'm up at 330am est trying to figure out what is going on. I want to get back on my lexapro because for six years on 40mg I was happy go lucky.
Avatar n tn I was put on cymbalta for depression and nerve pain ( RSD ). I hate taking new medicines I know nothing about. I am young and I am afraid of it. I start off taking 30 mgs for a week than increase to 60 than I will get up to 120 at some point. Could someone please tell me something about this drug? Is it safe? Thanks Susan...
Avatar n tn The manufacturer is now trying to get this med approved for fibromyalgia and pain control, and some concerns have come out during the FDA review about liver toxicity, so I would investigate this med with your doc and again, if after a couple months it doesn't work, don't stay on it.
Avatar n tn I have been told that it is permenent and that i could take Cymbalta. I refused and live with the pain. I need suggestions on how to deal with this. It affects my sleep, my mood with my children adn husband and my outlook on life. I cant find anything on the nerve pain affiliated with this condition. Idea????
Avatar f tn Now that i am off medication completely and have stopped taking Cymbalta (2 months) am doing good and minding my mental health. (I tapered over a long time, i mean at least a year each medication). I notice that all the weight around my middle has gone off me, i think it was fluid retention? 4 kilos just disappears. I can eat what i like. I dont look as old, i dont have a bloated belly like an old lady any more. Also my cholesterol problem is gone, i no longer have high cholesterol.
Avatar n tn I would not have recommend you to go onto duloxetine, in some, duloxetine can cause kidney and liver problems, drinking alcohol while taking this drug will unfortunately increase that risk and even more so with someone with your condition.
Avatar f tn People can have elavated readings but have little or no damage and you can have normal readings but have damage.
872340 tn?1315715479 For the pain, he gave me Cymbalta. My sister said he sounds incompetent and that Cymbalta can aggravate the liver and he should have felt my abdomen to make sure the liver was fine. If all the blood work comes out normal, do I have to get any further testing or should all that Tylenol be out of my system by now?
Avatar m tn I doubt that this is from the Cymbalta, and it may be that you don't even need the Cymbalta. Something is out of whack with your thyroid or something else in your endocrine system, which can also cause depression. I would make an appt. to see an Endocrinologist ASAP. Let us know what you find out and take care.
Avatar f tn I have had normal liver enzyme test and a normal ultrasound and ct scan, but I still have extreme bloating. This has been going on for months now. I worry because I binge drank on a nightly basis for about an 8 year span, 3-5(sometimes more) glasses of wine and such. Should I be worried that I have liver damage that is just not showing up? I have changed my diet significantly ( no dairy or gluten) but I am still very bloated. I am sick with worry that I have caused permanent damage.
Avatar f tn The only way to truly ease your mind is by being totally honest with him/her. I have liver damage and kidney damage due to drugs stage 2 liver stage 3 kidney.. if your liver were damaged and you had a flare your belly would be extended/pain upper right you would be lethargic/vomiting.. other symptoms but these being severe.. It is not fun and I would not wish it on anyone.. I contracted hep C from slamming and further continued the damage through pills/alcohol..
Avatar n tn I have never been to hospital, I dont appear to have yellowing of the skin or eyes. What is the likly hood of damage to my liver, and if stoped now could my liver possibly recover from and damege.
1012981 tn?1322603293 My brother has been in the hospital for 12 days for liver damage. His skin and eyes are yellow, abdomen pain and swelling of the stomach. They drained off 12 liters of fluid from stomach area. He's has dementia, no communicating with him that makes any sense. In this situation what is his chance to make it through this? The doctors and nurses are not saying much, but wait and see.
