Common Questions and Answers about Cymbalta and lamictal

cymbalta

596143 tn?1226648054 I'm on Cymbalta for moodswings and fibro. Someone posted that they were on Cymbalta and Lamactil and it worked well. Cant find the post. Anyone taking this combination and does it work.
Avatar m tn I have been on Lamictal and Cymbalta for some time. I was taking 100mg of the Lamictal, but was recently increased to 200mg. I asked to be taken off the Cymbalta because I thought I was having a bad side effect from it....profuse sweating! But it hasn't stopped. I am active and go to the gym on a regular basis and it's just plain embarrassing having sweat pouring off my head & body. It also smells like ammonia. I am ruining a lot of my clothes and it's maddening.
Avatar f tn is the lowest effective dose of Lamictal and it should take some time for you to see the effectiveness of it. Two of the medications (Cymbalta, Geodon) you are taking can commonly (especially Geodon) cause extra pyramidal side effects (temporary movement disorders) such as akathesia which can be treated with a side effect pill. I had that problem with Lamictal but with that it is a statistically rare adverse side effect. If you are feeling any cognitive confusion that should go away in time.
Avatar f tn Depakote and Seroquel did cause me to gain 30 lbs in two months -- since off of those and on Lamictal and Lexapro my appetite has calmed down and I have lost most of that weight I gained. Everyone reacts differently to the meds -- and like the other posters above -- sometimes I react the opposite of what my doc says to expect -- even he cannot predict all the side effects.
607502 tn?1288247540 I think my pdoc is trying to cover all bases as she has me on cymbalta, seroquel xr, lamictal and lithium. I just don't sleep on a normal basis and seroquel didn't change that, but seroquel xr at first was great! helped my mood and let me sleep. Now...I'm getting depressed again with hallucinations, am gaining alot of weight and can't wake up for many hours in the morning.
Avatar f tn I've been smoking marijuana for about 5 years. I've been diagnosed bipolar for about 2 years. I recently had a really bad reaction to pot. REALLY bad. I almost killed myself, screamed at my friends, and vomited for 2 days. No one else that smoked it had a bad reaction. I haven't had a medication change recently. I'm on lamictal, seroquel, wellbutrin, cymbalta, and adderall. I don't know what happened. It wasn't laced or else everyone would have gotten sick.
Avatar f tn I am currently taking Geodon, Cymbalta, Lamictal and Geodon. Recently I've had times when I've seen things that weren't what they really were. I'm wondering if this is psychosis. They're not like hallucinations, just sort of like I'm in a fog, not with it. I also have trouble with my understanding when someone is saying something to me, like a delayed reaction, feeling kind of slow. I really wonder if I need both mood stablizers.
Avatar f tn s like can I ever get well - I was placed on Lamictal, Cymbalta and Klonopin - however my doctor upped the lamictal to 400 mgs and the cymbalta to 60 mgs and I had a very severe reaction to it (this was after having been rushed to the hospital in the intensive cardiac care unit because the doctor prescribed lithium when I was on a diuretic for high blood pressure).
Avatar n tn I was going to take the Lamictal with the Geodon, and and only take the Geodon long enough to get me to the theraputic dose of lamictal. However, the Geodon made me really hyper and irritable (at only 20 mg), and gave me a ravenous appetite. So now I'm trying a very small dose of seroquel with the Lamictal. And yes, the dr. I'm seeing is a psychatrist who specialises in eating disorders. I love my family doc.
574118 tn?1305135284 As I stated it worked fine for me on both mania and depression. I was stable at 325 mg. for close to ten years. It did at the end worsen mania but that's an extremely high dose. But in the meantime it was working well the whole time on both manic and depression. As for mood stabilizers it is typical to change after a decade for some people at least. It does happen every now and then.
1225279 tn?1295545587 progressively stop medications, especially lamictal and topamax, verapamil and vicodin.
Avatar n tn My daughter-in-law, sho is bipolar, just became pregnant, it was not planned, she is on a lot of serious medication, lamictal, topomax, cymbalta, xanax. She is seeing her doctor's this week. We are all terrified that there will be something seriously wrong with the baby. Any advice or help would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn m at my last resort after being on Depakote, Lamictal, Geodon, and Cymbalta. If anyone has had any experience with either of these drugs, I'd like to know what you thought of them.
Avatar f tn Not to mention that another doctor diagnosed me previous to this doctor as ADD, so I was on Adderall XR 20 mg and Cymbalta 60 mg. My Pdoc told me that it was a horrible combo for me - and progressively took me off of Cymbalta (withdrawals sucked big time) and put me on a progressively increasing Lamactical dose. I went from 12.5 to 25 to 50 and now I am getting to the 100mg stage. My issue is that I have had bouts with nausia, diarhea, and bad headaches.
Avatar f tn Lamictal is a known mood stabilizer and one that was very helpful to me and other people (though each person reacts differently to each medication). Lamictal can sometimes be more helpful on depression than mania but also is less likely to cause weight gain and sedation than Depakoate but again this is an individual reaction.
Avatar f tn I am 31 and been on bipolar meds for 15 years now on cymbalta and topamax but they are causing my blood pressure to drop to low anyone know of any other meds that may help cant take depokate or lithium allergic thanks for the help
497950 tn?1255863927 Was reading your comments regarding Lamictal. About a year ago I started Lamictal and was also on seroquel. I started out on Lamictal 50, then 100, then 150, then 200. The seroquel was at 200. I totally flipped my lid and after 23 years out of a hospital ended up in one. Got out on this still. Was at originally 200 Lamictal and 50 Seroquel doing great then this incident. The doctor in there had stopped 5 other psych meds previous which I am grateful for. But home half a day thrown back in.
407790 tn?1397761026 ve taken Cymbalta, Adderall and Wellbutrin for years (though I took Pristiq instead of Cymbalta for an ill-fated 10 months.) I started Lamictal last spring and Topamax about a month ago. I haven't been in therapy for a while, mostly because my depression is so chemical (which is what every therapist I've spoken to in the past couple of years has said to me.) When my meds work, I'm fine. When they don't, I'm a crying mess. It's like someone flipped a switch. Oy. Anyway!
Avatar f tn My daughter has concentration problems and some memory loss on her medications but finds those side effects tolerable in comparison to cycling. She takes Lithium 1200 mg (split 600am/900pm), Lamictal 100pm and Adderall XR 10mg AM. She also takes a multivitamin, calcium, biotin, birth control, and zantac. She was on Geodon 80 mg (gained 30lbs and no improvement) and zoloft 50mg... with all the other stuff she was on. That was from August until mid December.
Avatar m tn She had two active attempts and two more hospitalization before ending up on Lamictal and Lithium. Which kept her stable for about 10 months and now we are weaning her lamictal and starting Geodone. She is leveling back out. But from what i have gotten from everyone.... SSRI's are a bad thing for bipolar and if your feeling suicidal on the Prozac you need to let someone know it is Notorious for causing suicidal ideations in people being treated with it.
Avatar n tn Klonipin is for anxiety, lamictal is a mood stabilizer, cymbalta is an antidepressant, so she is probably pretty sedated. My question is : has she ever been to a psychiatrist?
Avatar f tn I realize the underlying issue is depression/coping. Today I saw a NP and was prescribed Saphris 5mg SL every night and started on Lamictal with a tapering increase in dose over the next month. Im not comfortable with the Saphris though,,,its an "atypical antipsychotic" and used for people with Bipolar I disorder and schizophrenia????? Any suggestions,,I am trying to listen to the psych people as they know best,,so I will take as prescibed for now.
98010 tn?1305899735 He is maxed out on dosage of Cymbalta, but still has a little room to increase the lamictal. Had a really rough time in the beginning with the cymbalta and has resisted trying to go to something else. Thoughts? It seemed like the first month with Cymbalta helped with the depression (although awful side effects), but then started having a reverse effect. Has this happened to anyone else? 3) Finally just a theoretical question.
