Cymbalta and gastroparesis

Common Questions and Answers about Cymbalta and gastroparesis

cymbalta

Avatar f tn My son has daily nausea and has been diagnosed with gastroparesis. His gastroparesis is caused from dysautonomia. Perhaps you have more going on than just the gastroparesis. My son has not been able to go to school for a year because the nausea is so bad and lasts most of the day. Zofran has not helped him either. The autonomic nervous system runs everything involuntary (digestion, heart rate, blood pressure, body temp, etc).
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with gastroparesis almost 20 years ago and fibro only recently. Negative on h pylori and so far on thyroid.
Avatar f tn Kelly- I was just wondering if your daughters' gastroparesis has gotten any better. I to have idiopathic gastroparesis and they are teeling me they think I have dysautonomia. I have been sick for years and have been told I had fibromyalgia but I just recently had a baby and my blood pressure started going through the roof ...then it would go low. I would get dizzy and palpitations.
Avatar m tn Recently I was given a gastric emptying test and diagnosed with gastroparesis and given a low fiber diet. Can you have IBS and gastroparesis? What diet would help both?
Avatar f tn ve tried every natural, over the counter, and prescription there is... Lunesta and ambien seem to be the only things that help... And as far as The gastroparesis goes i take 10 mg of domperidone 4 times a day and i also take bethanecol 4 times a day( and I think the latter drug has also helped my condition a lot as well, because it helps your intestines empty more easily so it may also be worth mentioning... I hope this helps anyone struggling with this terrible disease...
Avatar f tn I am also 24 and a female and was just diagnosed with gastroparesis and am getting ready to start Reglan. I have never heard of abdominal migranes or epilepsy. This is very interesting because all my labs and tests came back normal but I have been throwing up for 8 months and had my gallbladder removed already. I have extreme pain in my upper right quadrant and extreme nausea and vomitting. I am not diabetic so the doctors don't really know why this is happening. Any ideas?
Avatar m tn I also have a stomach ache that has lasted a week and seems to be aggravated when I move, and I, too, have been doing "The Biggest Loser" cardio max workout every other day and the 5 minute yoga stretch with poses at the end. I was wondering if I twisted something as well, so I was interested in any answers you got, but so far no one has answered if it is possible to twist something internally. Do you have any digestive issues?
Avatar n tn I am supposed to be on liquid diet (I am not) and have gastroparesis and have gained 40 pounds in past two years. I have hypothyroidism for 33 years and empty sella syndrome. Because my TSH is always messed up docs keeping reducing levothyroxine dramatically, 2 years ago I was in a coma due to hypothyroidism and UTI which went to brain. I started using treadmill to help lose weight and broke tibia due to osteoporosis.
Avatar m tn You could still be recovering and your symptoms might improve with time. This could be gastroparesis. You can try a low-fiber low-fat diet with many small meals throughout the day to see if that helps.
Avatar f tn From what I have read gastroparesis is related to auto-immune diseases. Have you had Free T3 and Free T4 and antibodies done for your thyroid? TSH on its own is not enough to diagnose a thyroid condition. The nodule may or may not be causing you any thyroid troubles.
1670868 tn?1303741669 I agree with CalGal that this sounds like gastroparesis. The diet for gastroparesis is low-fiber low-fat. You should also eat small frequent meals throughout the day. If this isn't working (and you can't afford to see a doctor) you can try putting all your foods in a blender to see if that helps.
Avatar n tn I have just had a major sinus infection which left me with sinusitis type pain all throughout my sinuses and down through my lungs (?). It is likely caused by my gastroparesis and I am going for additional testing tomorrow.
Avatar n tn That's very interesting because I have recently been diagnosed with Bell's palsy and have been experiencing gastroparesis like symptoms - nausea, lack of appetite, feeling of fullness. The Bell's palsy is more of a nuisance, but the gastroparesis is horrible. There's been days where I could barely eat any food at all. I've recently learned that the stomach is linked to a cranial nerve, just like the facial nerve is, so was curious if there was a link between the conditions.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with diverticulitis and gastroparesis. I have had about 7-8 diverticulitis attacks beginning in 2006. I was diagnosed with gastroparesis in Dec of 2013. I have been miserable with pain and nausea with these last two attacks which were a month apart. My doc prescribed Domperidone for the gastroparesis. I filled the prescription but before I could start taking it, I had another diverticulitis attack. I am currently taking flagyl and levaquin for the diverticulitis.
484160 tn?1343397921 They cause nausea and they slow down motility of the GI system. I too have bad gastroparesis and now I am 100% tube fed into my small intestine because of this.
Avatar n tn I take Miralax and have Gastroparesis. I can't have a BM without the Miralax!!!! It has truly been a God sent to me! I have a spastic colon and, well needless to say the Miralax is the best tasting, no side effect product out there!!!! LOVE IT!!!!!!! My daughter who is 12 (almost 13) takes it occasionally (only a half cap full) when she's stopped up. I've tried just about every other "helper" out there on the market and Miralax is by far the best!
Avatar f tn That has caused me nothing but worry and stress...and secondly I will give my mind and body time to recover from all of this stress and anxiety and I will seek out anxiety meds for the first time in my 37 yrs...This recent episode has made me realise that I can't control this demon on my own..I've done pretty good...but its the pain and worry and fear on the inside that noone sees that does the most damage..I'm still continually amazed that I can hide this from everyone...
Avatar m tn Has anyone experienced anything that cycles between gastroparesis symptoms and trouble swallowing? i.e., for a few weeks, I'll get full quickly, feel bloated, some nausea, lasts for a long time - can throw up nearly whole meals after 8 hours.
Avatar f tn I have gastroparesis, recently diagnosed, and I am furiously researching the right diet I should be on because I know carbs make me sick so I am currently on a low fat/low carb type of diet but I stumbled upon a Celiac website and I could NOT believe the nunber of people who have BOTH celiac and gastroparesis or gluten sensitivty and gastroparesis. I think this is very interesting.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with Gastroparesis and am wondering if a high glucose level in the blood will raise your heart rate. There have been times after eating a meal whereby my glucose level went up. My heart rate went up too, then came down on its own. Actually, will having food remaining in your stomach for a long period of time make this happen?
4407520 tn?1363011865 I have gastroparesis, and GERD, and am on methadone maintenance. I noticed I started having problems as soon as I started the Methadone Clinic, 3 yrs ago. I recently had an endoscopy and waiting on the biopsy results. I'm so sick of not being able to eat anything. I'm living off of oatmeal and can't over eat. But it's not over eating because I've been starving. I can only eat a small bowl of oatmeal before I take my methadone and then another small one for lunch.
Avatar f tn I'm Type 2 Diabetic and have other issues with my health, i have Gastroparesis, Barretts disease, IBS, Acid Reflux ( Gerd ) Stomach Hernia, and have had 9 Polyps taken from my Bowels ( non cancerous ). I know it's the diabetes thats killing the nerve endings in my stomach which has give me the gastroparesis but how do i control my sugars? i do my best but find it real hard.
Avatar m tn I was put on a gastroparesis diet and I got sicker. I ended up on a Celiac diet (gluten free) and I got better. I was on the diet for about 6 months. I just went last week to get tested again for gastroparesis and it came back 25% out of 35%. I am currently not having any problems with sickness but have gastroparesis. I first got sick due to contaminated well water and seem to get sick every time I get pregnant, weird.
596143 tn?1226648054 I'm on Cymbalta for moodswings and fibro. Someone posted that they were on Cymbalta and Lamactil and it worked well. Cant find the post. Anyone taking this combination and does it work.
Avatar n tn I was put on cymbalta for depression and nerve pain ( RSD ). I hate taking new medicines I know nothing about. I am young and I am afraid of it. I start off taking 30 mgs for a week than increase to 60 than I will get up to 120 at some point. Could someone please tell me something about this drug? Is it safe? Thanks Susan...
