cymbalta and fibromyalgia

I am 30yrs old and i am taking Cymbalta for my Fibromyalgia pain but i have to stop it do to my insurance. It works REALLY well for my pain. I wanted to know if anyone is taking Lyrica for their pain and if it works.

I started taking 60 mg cymbalta around 6 weeks ago for depression and fibromyalgia. I felt I was getting into deeper drepression and still hurting.I went to the Dr and told him and he up the meds. The Dr doubles my dose to 120 mg cymbalta. It has help the pain some but I don't feel right. I am staying sleepy and feel very depress. Can anyone help me with this.

m 57 year old male and have been on pain meds for five years due to disc issues, stenosis, severe arthritis, and fibromyalgia. Has anyone else had experience with taking Cymbalta and Abilify?

I suffer from fibromyalgia and neurophy daily. When the pain is severe I can hardly stand it. Are there any new approaches to this condition. I am taking vicoden, cymbalta, pamelor and neurotyn?

OK - can anyone who has taken Lyrica and Cymbalta in conjunction with each other please give me your experiences --- and how long you've been taking them? I've been temporarily "diagnosed" with neuropathic pain issues (think Fibromyalgia). Waiting on some final test results to rule out any other Autoimmune Disease - but I believe I'll be finally diagnosed as Fibromyalgia. My Rheumatologist / Internist has prescribed Lyrica and Cymbalta together.

Talking to the doctor next week to try something else. I also tried cymbalta and cymbalta with the lyrica and they did not help the pain. The cymbalta was making me moody and irritable and i just wanted to be left alone.

My sister started taking Cymbalta for Fibromyalgia and her appetite dropped a lot, and just a few months later she was pre-diabetic. I have read some other people's comments saying that going on or even going off of cymbalta has really messed up their blood sugar. some people even say that it made them diabetic. so if you are on cymbalta, just watch out for some of the pre-diabetes symptoms and tell your doctor about any weird eating habit changes that happen.

What exactly are cymbalta and lyrica? Aren't they anti-depressants? How do they help with the pain? Do they help with chronic fatigue as well? I have been diagnosed with chronic fatigue, and the aches and pains(especially legs from my thighs to my ankels) are leading the doctor to think fibromyalgia. I was just wondering about these meds because I NEED some relief and I've heard many mentions of these meds. Can they be taken with provigil?

I take Lyrica and Cymbalta and they help with the neuropathic pain associated with the Fibro and Diabectic nerve pain. The Cymbalta helps with a little pain. Side effects for me? I'm dizzy and sleepy in the daytime, but I take other things like Vicodin 750, Klonopin, Flexeril and Ambien, and Paxil. I gained weight with the Diabetes, so I can't tell. But I loved carbs before all of this.

I too suffer from depression, anxiety, and fibromyalgia. I was prescribed Cymbalta to combat all of it. Once your depression gets under control, the others will too. There are only 2 drugs FDA approved for the treatment of fibromyalgia and that is LYRICA, and CYMBALTA. When someone is suffer from depression, it not only affects you mentally but physically. That has been medically proven. Your immune system, cardiovascular, musculoskeltal to me seems the hardest hit.

I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia last March. Since then and after trying few different prescription(Neurontin, Cymbalta) I decided I didn't like the way they made me feel and started researching what nutritional supplements could help. I resorted to taking supplements and saw my energy level and some symptoms improve. About 4-6 weeks, I have tingling (pin & needles) in my feet going up my legs and hands. My rheumatologists suggested I see a neurologist, to rule out MS.

I had insomnia and fibromyalgia. My doctor put me on Cymbalta. He said it would help me with sleep and pain. It was 2 weeks of hell, no sleep and constant pain and I wanted to kill myself!!! I was not depressed and have no history of depression. my doctor switched me to amitriptyline. It helps with sleep but not pain, I would never recommend Cymbalta to anyone !

Actually cymbalta is not just an antidepressant. Cymbalta works to relieve fibromyalgia pain is not entirely understood but it's thought that by increasing the activity of two naturally-occurring substances -- serotonin and norepinephrine -- it suppresses pain. I have been on Cymbalta for several years and know that it does help. I was unable for a period of four or five months to obtain cymbalta so ran out.

Because if you are weaning down off of the Cymbalta and beginning the Savella, this might make more sense? To pull you off your Cymbalta abruptly might shock your system.

Has anyone tried or currently use Cymbalta for Fibromyalgia. My primary care Dr. wants me to try it for my pain. I have glaucoma, it's under controlled but im still afraid to take it because of the side affects. Im in so much pain most of the time. I also have non hodgkns lymphoma and sarcoidosis and both are in remission , and I pray I can get some kind of relief. I really would like to hear some input on this.

Lyrica is an antiseizure medication, while Cymbalta and Savella are antidepressants. All three have been known to reduce the pain of fibromyalgia significantly. Other drugs that are usually combined with these are- Flexeril (this muscle relaxant not only decreases muscle pain but also improves sleep), Mirapex (used in the treatment of Parkinson's disease.

I am having terrible pain with Fibromyalgia that goes along with hep c for some. And also mild depression on the scare of a disease that could kill me after the drug use did not!

The doc who prescibed it was running a clinic in florida and claimed to be able to cure chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia.....he diagnosed me with black mold toxicity and put me on a month of IV therapy....thats why I didn't make the link to my side effects and the lyrica. he claimed I was detoxing from the micotoxins the mold causes. the jury is still out on whether that was really my problem, as all my symptoms are coming back.

I was wondering if anyone here has taken or currently is taking cymbalta and what their experience with it is. My doctor wants me to start taking this at a low dose, I believe it's 30mg once a day, to see if it would help with my pain. She said she can also add neurontin down the road if needed. I just don't know....

So this is my second time trying Cymbalta. I was on it about 6 months ago and didn't think it did much for my pain. I have fibromyalgia. My PMD then had me try Savella which I did not do well on, so back to Cymbalta. Now I have realized that it does help with my anxiety but I really think I crave alcohol when I am on it. I am not a big drinker, but last time I was on it I started to crave it. When I went off of the Cymbalta the craving went away.

Lyrica seems to work for me, however the side effects include drowsiness and weight gain. I also take baclophen, which is a muscle relaxent and Celexa for my depression. It is also used for fibromyalgia. If you are having trouble sleeping and don't want to take something addicting, Then take melatonin. It is a herbal med. Good Luck and Take Care.

Following a good organic diet for borth migraine and fibromyalgia helps and avoiding stress. I have blackout shades in my home and NO FLOURESCENT BULBS!!! Warm baths are great. I've been watching some research at Stanford and hoping for success there. It's non narcotic and inexpensive. You can catch a youtube film about it by looking up stanford fibromyalgia. Good luck.

I have fibromyalgia and so does my mother. From what I have learned it can stay the way it is now for the rest of your life or it can get worse. Try to stay on a daily routine sleep when your tired and don't overdue yourself, the best you can do is take good care of yourself hoping to help it not get worse. Very true, as bad as it gets for you.

I found out I have fibromyalgia. The Dr put me on cymbalta 60 mg. I went back and told him I was still hurting and felt drepress more, crying. He upped the cymbalta to 120 mg a day. I fell sad and dont feel like my self. I am still hurting but not as bad. Can someone help me please!

I have to switch my meds. I have depression and fibromyalgia and am on Cymbalta, but it doesn't seem to be helping me.....my doctor suggested Prozac since it is known to help fatigue better than the other antidepressants (supposedly). Thank you.

Hey Suzy. Welcome to the forum. Oxycodone @ 10mg injected will produce the SAME results as morphine for most people. I'm mentioning this to point out that these types of drugs are opioid drugs, potentially habit forming narcotic drugs. The fact that they are prescribed legally, does not make them any less dangerous than street drugs, other than the fact that their "quality" and strength are consistent with what they claim.

Cymbalta works for some and doesn't work for others. Personally, after a while of taking it I did start having thoughts of death. I thought it was because my pain was so horrible and nobody seemed to understand. But my husband pointed out to me that I hadn't been acting this bad before I started taking Cymbalta. I would ask someone to watch you or even keep a journal of your thoughts/feelings throughout the process so you can look back and monitor any changes yourself as well.
