cymbalta and abilify for depression

No longer covered by her Medicare, her psychiatrist took her off the cymbalta and abilify. Switched to prozac 40 mg once a day. Last day for cymbalta and abilify was Wednesday. She is having horrible throbbing , headaches, angry outbursts, crying, the "runs", nausea, panic, agitation. She cannot get to sleep and wakes up after 4 hours once she does get to sleep. What she wants to know is whether or not she can take tylenol for the headaches?

I am on 90 mg of Cymbalta and just started 15 mg of Abilify for depression. My doctor has titrated me up on the Abilify gradually. My question is for anyone who take 15 mg of Abilify for depression. Have you experienced any side effects? When you're depressed and trying to get your medications right it just isn't fun. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I was on a low dose of Abilify for about three months and while it did help a little with depression (was also taking Cymbalta) I had a lot of weight gain. I was constantly hungry and the medication didn't help matters by slowing my metabolism.

Hi I was wondering if anyone knew if the medication abilify could cause anxiety. My anxiety is so bad I don't know what to do. I am also on a low dose of prozac for depression. Abilify was added because the dr. thought i might be bi-polar. I dont think i am nor do my friends and family?? But recently the anxiety is unbearable i take xanax when it's really bad but it's has been so bad that i would have to take it once or twice a day and i really don't want to??? any suggestions??

Sister having horrible reactions during withdrawl from cymbalta and abilify. What can she do to help herself? She w as taken off both on Wednesday and put on prozac. Can she use tylenol for the headache? Someone told her it is not safe to do. Another person suggested melatonin. Is that safe? She is bi polar and has gained over 100 lbs on these meds over the last 6 years. This is ridiculous! Will she gain on prozac also? What is wrong with these psychiatrists, anyway?

after over 20 yrs. of being treated for depression, ADHD, drug and alcohol addiction i'm now being treated for rapid cycling bipolar. (2 yrs.) i've been off and on depakote,the diagnosis seems good,, i'm currently taking 2 grams a day. i do better on medication but still struggle with focus, completeing tasks, starting new projects, anxiousness, worry. the doc and i are considering adding Abilify to the Depakote. anyone out there tried it.

My son took Cymbalta for a while, at higher doses, plus Abilify. It wasn't very helpful to him. I asked the doctor to try it, because there was a woman who posted on here, a couple of years ago, how well both of her daughters did on high doses of Cymbalta plus Abilify. But what works for one, doens't nececssarily work for another. The two meds that have been most helpful for my son are Doxepin and Klonopin.

im so upset, my dr put me on abilify in september with my effexor, my libido got very low and i wasnt able to come, now the dr is taking me off effexor and abilify and put me on celexa...now my libdo is completely gone and i cant come at all....it was the only thing i had left i was able to enjoy, i could always get in the mood and able to come fast and at least 2 times, now it just hurts and i dont want to do it....is this from the celexa?

Welbutrin, Cymbalta, and Effexor are all SNRIs - serotonin norepinepherine reuptake inhibitors. How were you doing on Cymbalta and Abilify? Could the depression be caused by going off the Abilify by any chance? I don't know much about Abilify; it's just a tought to consider. I'd definitely give Effexor more time to work. You are on a pretty small dose, compared to what most people need. Many individuals I know are on more, but DON'T play with that by yourself, please!

I'm SORRY but WHO the HELL created that youtube video?????????????? EVERY ONE of OUR bodies IS different! What works for some; doesn't for others. And as i'm stating my opinion (we all are entitled to our own) it's REALLY helped me. And i'm SORRY Cymbalta hasn't worked for some. I DO have REAL depression & Prozac made me a FLAT out physco, suicidal ***** from hell. Lexapro, Celexa & paxil DIDN"T work for me & i gained over 10 lbs. w/ a quickness.

She has previously been on Prozac and Effexor for depression and anxiety. In 2009 our oldest son (40) passed away. Since then her depression has gotten much worse. We move from SoCal to be nearer to our other son and grandkids 6 years ago. I had hoped that being nearer to our son and grandkids would be a source of joy for her. The grandkids help but the weather here is well known to cause depression. Our primary care physician referred her to a psychiatrist.

Also I commend both you and her Drs as I had blood drawn for 10 years and all symptoms minus fainting yet I was always told depression. You have been an incredible parent to believe her and push through until she got a diagnosis!

I had been on lexapro for 11 days and kinda tapered off it to go on cymbalta but only did cymblat 4 days and had to stop because of bad diereahha,I cant call my dr again today as i might lose her since she said me calling ever day is not good.Pharmiasys thinks its my anxiety but when i was o risperdal i had fast heart rate too,,,,anyone else experience this?

s an antipsychotic too but good for both anxiety and depression. I also helps you sleep well and although abilify is known to combat depression but my knowledge is that seroquel is the only FDA approved AP for depression. In any case you need unfortunately to be be patient. Psych illnesses are not flu say where one takes antibiotics and it's finished.

I live with major dpression/anxiety and am currently on Wellbutrin XL 400mg, Cymbalta 90 mg, Lexapro 10 mg, Repridal 10 mg and Xanax 3 mg and a couple of other non related meds. My doctor is trying to raise my energy level and simplify my meds. W ould ambilify help with energy? These seem like alot of meds to me,( my fomer doctor kept adding them as the depression did not get better). I am stable now but feel neither here nor there sort of emotionless. Any input would be appreciated.

I am bipolar and have been on wellbutrin450mg, cymbalta 90mg, and lexapro 10 mg. I am also on respridal 1 mg to stablize my mood also xanax. They want to try Abilify but I am pre-diabetic and am afraid that would push me over the edge. I have no motivation and do nothing all day. I don't even know what I like when it comes to anything. I know I should exercisd, lose weight and get a life but I am stuck.

Thank you everyone, for your replies. I did see my dr. yesterday. I've had major depressive disorder for years, and have tried many ADs. I'm also on interferons for MS, and the interferons themselves can cause depression, even in someone without it. The depression makes me do less, and eat more. The dr. diagnosed me with bipolar, which is really surprising to me, as I don't have real manic episodes. She wants me to try Geodon.

Pls ppl, Do not go onto any dose of Cymbalta w/o investigating it thoroughly. Thr is no exit strategy for Cymbalta and its half-life is only 12hrs; IOW, u cld be on Cymbalta 20mg for the rest of yr life b/c u cn't functn w/o it. Most of the ppl who hv tried to wean thmslvs off Cymbalta face awful serotonin w/drawal symptoms. It is not unusual tht Cymbalta patients hv broken the 20mg capsule and eliminated 1-2 pebbles (out of abt 50 in each capsule) per wk. it's a complete nightmare.

I was on Abilify, Lea1959 .. and I gained SO much weight, also raised my blood sugar tremendously. I would complain each month about the weight gain (every month I stepped on the scale there was more weight gain) ... FINALLY I went to the Psychiatrist (I was seeing a NP who kept handing me the script for Abilify) ... The Psychiatrist said I should have been off Abilify well before I insisted on seeing her. When I came off of it, I started to lose weight rapidly.

How would a stimulant work in conjunction with a partial dopamine agonist like Rexulti? I am prescribe the Rexulti for depression/anxiety in conjunction with Prozac and Cymbalta. The Vyvanse is being added to treat my severe ADHD, I am the mostly inattentive type. I just want to be able to think and focus clearly. If this combo will still allow that I would be happy, if not than I may need to talk to my doc. Thanks for any responses.

New question. My doctor's office called and said for me to come by and get a prescription for Abilify and that he wants me to take it with my Cymbalta. Can anyone tell me the pros and cons to this route?

I'm taking Abilify for psychosis and have had no side effects yet except it interrupts my sleep all the time.
