Avatar f tn I plan cataract surgery for my non-dominant left eye in three weeks. I've worn progressive eyeglasses for ~18 years, bifocals or singles since 1950 or so. MR data on the left: -6.50 sph; +1.50 cyl. Further testing indicates the astigmatism is closer to +2. The cataract is small but nicely centered on the left lens and is both anterior and posterior. I also have guttata, 2-3+ and PVD, not a happy combination.
Avatar n tn I was switched to cyclosporine and Myfortic. When the Incivek was started my cyclosporine was dropped to 25 mg once per day due to their interaction. Due to my previous non-response and to the multiple variations of the HCV I carry my odds were considered to be about 30%, maybe 40% at best. At the end of week 4 the HCV RNA was not detectable. The only additional side effect is that the anemia came quicker this time. I will start Procrit injections probably sometime this week.
Avatar f tn About 6 months ago, I was finally diagnosed and started taking cyclosporine 100 mg 2x day. After a week, I could eat like a normal person—just about anything I wanted. It was great, it even allowed me to travel to Europe. The cyclosporine I was taking was a powder in a capsule, apparently this has been taken off the market and instead I took the same medication, but it was in the form of a capsule with alcohol. Unfortunately, after a short time, I was right back to before treatment.
Avatar f tn Yes I took Cyclosporine for my aquagenic urticaria, it helped so much but not enough to have a normal life :S but maybe for you its going to be different...
Avatar m tn I am still on 100 mg 2x daily cyclosporine. My cyclosporine through levels have been lower, the last time they were at 79. I Have been on 300 mg ursodiol 3x daily for biliary stricture since tx. I lowered the dose to 300mg once daily but just recently raised it back to 300x 3 daily because right side discomfort an increase in bilirubin. My headaches and fluid in ears have gotten better, still have the vision issues but heart palpitations have also lessened.

Avatar n tn There is a significant difference between full monovision and modified monovision. For full monovision, the dominant eye is set at about plano and the non-dominant eye about -2.00 to -2.50. This correction should provide "good enough" (but not perfect) vision at distance, intermediate, and near. Some people never wear glasses, but others may need a weak prescription for certain tasks (e.g., night driving, sewing, etc.
Avatar m tn The specialist reviewed all of the options with us - cyclosporine, pilocarpine or tacrolimus with sirolimus. She said that very rarely has she seen any dog respond to cyclosporine after not responding to tacrolimus. She also said that because our dog doesn't have a dry, goopy nose, that pilocarpine wouldn't be a first choice. She recommended a mix of tacrolimus with sirolimus. She said sirolimus is new. I have not been able to find anything about this drug on the internet.
1732853 tn?1366758928 I'm on Cyclosporine following my liver transplant a year ago. What did you want to know about it?
Avatar m tn Close to five years post liver transplant. No rejections, cyclosporine mono -therapy .Also take 300 mg ursodiol 3x daily for bile duct stricture. Vascular hyper-tensions are becoming a real concern. ie heart, palpitations . fluid in ears , vision problems that aren't related to my actual eyes, the opthamologist confirmed, Migraines that have actually gotten better lately. kidney function is still adequate. My liver is doing very good especially with hep-c..
Avatar m tn The doctor used Alcon Acry-Sof Aspheric Toric monovision lenses and had told me about doing Modified Monovision (Dominant eye set for 20-20 vision and non dominant eye i believe was set at around 20-125 to cover mid range and close vision)...He explained that most of his patients get that and are very satisfied because it minimizes the need for reading glasses.. I just had the two eyes done within the last 2 weeks (dominant eye then non-dominant just several days later)...
Avatar f tn I got released from the hospital last night and they said im on preeclamysia watch or warning (cant remember what she said) as well as modified bed rest. What can you do on modified bed rest? She didnt really explain it and i dont go back to my doctor until sometime this week just depends on when theirs an opening. Its hard to just lay around when i have an almost two year old to look after.
163305 tn?1333668571 SCY-635 is the first candidate in a novel class of non-immunosuppressive cyclophilin inhibitors owned by SCYNEXIS. Cyclophilins are a family of enzymatic proteins that assist in the folding and transport of other proteins synthesized within a cell. Cyclophilin inhibitors, such as Cyclosporine A, have been used for decades for the prophylaxis of organ rejection in transplant patients.
Avatar m tn and the vet will probably prescribe cyclosporine drops to help the eye produce more tears. Before you use the cyclosporine drops, be aware that they will sting your dogs eyes, and long term use may contribute to kidney disease...talk this over with your vet. Since your dog is 12 years old, please have annual bloodwork done on him to assess liver and kidney functions...bloodwork should be done on all senior dogs. Best Wishes for you and your dog.....
Avatar n tn In an additional 33 patients, glomerular and tubular NEP protein levels from renal graft biopsies were significantly higher among the 13 patients receiving cyclosporine + EC-MPS than among the 12 patients receiving cyclosporine + azathioprine or 8 patients receiving cyclosporine alone. Glomerular NEP expression inversely correlated with glomerulosclerosis and proteinuria, and tubular NEP expression inversely correlated with interstitial fibrosis.
Avatar m tn i would be extremely cautious about using it until more data is available especially since its purported effects on tacrolimus and cyclosporine metabolism are extreme. i am quite confident that there will be clinical trials coming down the road extremely soon.
Avatar n tn Its better to have him prescribe an anti-histamanic (non-sedating). if its an allergic reaction to some air pollutant etc then it would go away but if its excaberated by water then it could be fungal. Keep the body dry and se if your GP would suggest some dry talc. But you should see a specialist.
Avatar m tn I am currently under St Thomas hospital for this, they are stating I should take Cyclosporine for 6 months, I was wondering if someone on here has taken this treatment and it has worked for them??, I am not convinced on this medication as I have read so many bad things about it. My consultant has stated that 70% of people whilst on cyclosporine will be clear, one third will have total remission, one third will be same as before, one third will be worse once the treatment has stopped.
Avatar f tn Why are they considering it; do you have a long history of non-response? Are they using it in conjunction with IFN/riba/DAA drug?
Avatar f tn We immediately put her on an antibiotic ointment and cyclosporine. It has been almost 10 days and while there is less discharge, she is still having some trouble opening her eye, she just keeps it closed (unless she gets excited). At some times you look at her and she looks completely fine, others times she can barely open her eye. Is this normal for KCS? Should we have seen some major improvement by now?
7721134 tn?1398037630 t, Monday I was having lots of pressure/pelvic pain and contractions (not sure if they were real or BH) and I just felt like something was wrong, called my dr.
Avatar f tn Went to the hospital my bp was up and they put me on modified bed rest :/ at least im 31 weeks so I'm almost done.
Avatar m tn My cataracts are getting bothersome. I'm a 74 y/o male, good health. Spherical - Cylinder - Axis - Reading Addition +2.50 -1.25 102 +2.25 +2.75 -1.00 75 +2.25 Not thrilled with the high cost of multifocals, not to mention the glare and halo problems. I wouldn't mind needing reading specs occasionally. So my search has led me to Crystalens or a Modified Monofocal / Blended Vision for my lens implants.
