About 6 months ago, I was finally diagnosed and started taking cyclosporine 100 mg 2x day. After a week, I could eat like a normal person—just about anything I wanted. It was great, it even allowed me to travel to Europe. The cyclosporine I was taking was a powder in a capsule, apparently this has been taken off the market and instead I took the same medication, but it was in the form of a capsule with alcohol. Unfortunately, after a short time, I was right back to before treatment.
Yes I took Cyclosporine for my aquagenic urticaria, it helped so much but not enough to have a normal life :S but maybe for you its going to be different...
I am still on 100 mg 2x daily cyclosporine. My cyclosporine through levels have been lower, the last time they were at 79. I Have been on 300 mg ursodiol 3x daily for biliary stricture since tx. I lowered the dose to 300mg once daily but just recently raised it back to 300x 3 daily because right side discomfort an increase in bilirubin. My headaches and fluid in ears have gotten better, still have the vision issues but heart palpitations have also lessened.
The specialist reviewed all of the options with us - cyclosporine, pilocarpine or tacrolimus with sirolimus. She said that very rarely has she seen any dog respond to cyclosporine after not responding to tacrolimus. She also said that because our dog doesn't have a dry, goopy nose, that pilocarpine wouldn't be a first choice. She recommended a mix of tacrolimus with sirolimus. She said sirolimus is new. I have not been able to find anything about this drug on the internet.
Close to five years post liver transplant. No rejections, cyclosporine mono -therapy .Also take 300 mg ursodiol 3x daily for bile duct stricture. Vascular hyper-tensions are becoming a real concern. ie heart, palpitations . fluid in ears , vision problems that aren't related to my actual eyes, the opthamologist confirmed, Migraines that have actually gotten better lately. kidney function is still adequate. My liver is doing very good especially with hep-c..
Eventually that stopped working. I now take 2 cyclosporine daily with 4 of medrol every other day. Medrol dose packs are used for exacerbations, but they are less and less since I started cyclosporine. There is also a new medication based on a humanized mouse anti-body that works for a lot of people with asthma and chronic hives and angioedema. (xolair....they company helps pay the cost, just apply....
and the vet will probably prescribe cyclosporine drops to help the eye produce more tears. Before you use the cyclosporine drops, be aware that they will sting your dogs eyes, and long term use may contribute to kidney disease...talk this over with your vet.
Since your dog is 12 years old, please have annual bloodwork done on him to assess liver and kidney functions...bloodwork should be done on all senior dogs.

In an additional 33 patients, glomerular and tubular NEP protein levels from renal graft biopsies were significantly higher among the 13 patients receiving cyclosporine + EC-MPS than among the 12 patients receiving cyclosporine + azathioprine or 8 patients receiving cyclosporine alone. Glomerular NEP expression inversely correlated with glomerulosclerosis and proteinuria, and tubular NEP expression inversely correlated with interstitial fibrosis.
If after a 9 months the person is still symptomatic on restasis twice per day and preservative free artificial tears 2 to 4 times/day than I switch from restasis to Cequa, which is the same medicine as restasis (cyclosporine) but twice as concentrated and is said to penetrate deeper into the cornea. Cequa is more expensive. For restasis I personally use the preservative free drops and use up the entire dropperrte before opening a new one.
I am currently under St Thomas hospital for this, they are stating I should take Cyclosporine for 6 months, I was wondering if someone on here has taken this treatment and it has worked for them??, I am not convinced on this medication as I have read so many bad things about it.
My consultant has stated that 70% of people whilst on cyclosporine will be clear, one third will have total remission,one third will be same as before, one third will be worse once the treatment has stopped.
We immediately put her on an antibiotic ointment and cyclosporine. It has been almost 10 days and while there is less discharge, she is still having some trouble opening her eye, she just keeps it closed (unless she gets excited). At some times you look at her and she looks completely fine, others times she can barely open her eye. Is this normal for KCS? Should we have seen some major improvement by now?
I was switched to cyclosporine and Myfortic. When the Incivek was started my cyclosporine was dropped to 25 mg once per day due to their interaction. Due to my previous non-response and to the multiple variations of the HCV I carry my odds were considered to be about 30%, maybe 40% at best. At the end of week 4 the HCV RNA was not detectable. The only additional side effect is that the anemia came quicker this time. I will start Procrit injections probably sometime this week.
t swelling and foamy urine. Now that I have a diagnosis, I am on pill forms of Prednisone every other day and Cyclosporine 2x every day. I have been on the meds for over 1 1/2 weeks and noticed that the foamy urine amount has doubled, my face swells unbelievably, and walking is difficult, as the bottom of my feet and ankles cause me severe pain. I checked with my Nephrologist and she states that it will take a little while for my body to adjust to the medicine.
I have been taking Restasis regularly for 2 months now for dry eye treatment. I usually put two drops in my eye at a time instead of just 1. It says it has "Cyclosporine Opthalmic Emulsion .05%. I have taken two Oraquick home tests and they both came up negative for hiv. Would the Cyclosporine be able to cause a false negative?

Do you think it is neck pain or could it be an abdominal problem from being on pred, cyclosporine for 5 years (she has been on cyclosporine consistently for 5 years and pred on/off whenever she has a recurrence), coud it be cancer in her abdomen? I am thinking about going for a myelogram but what tests would you run else since her chemistry was pretty clean. Could it be pancreatitis even though her chemistry is clean? What are other causes for a dog crying?

For the past 2 years, she has been on Cyclosporine and Ketaconazole and it has controlled her itching, scratching and yeast buildup. Unfortunately, it has contributed to her kidney problems. She has quickly moved to Stage 3 kidney disease. We originally attributed her failing kidney function to her food. We have been feeding her gluten free food because of her allergies, but they have a high protein and sometimes higher sodium and phosphorus content.
First of all, you want to stay away from products like Artificial Tears and other over-the-counter eye lubricants, because these products contain a form of soap as a stabilizer, and while they are fine for occasional use in normal eyes that just happen to be in a temporarily drying condition, for the lifelong treatment that will be needed for dry eye, the soap stabilizer will be too irritating. There are special preparations that contain cyclosporine that are used to treat KCS.
She was completely unresponsive to antihistamines although she continues to take many. She has been on an immune suppressant called cyclosporine that was working fairly well but had to go off quickly due to bad kidney response. She is now on cellcept, another immune suppressant, but it is not working well. I have been prescribed teva-cyclosporine 0.05%, I was wondering if it is okay to put the eye drops in my eye, and then after like 10 minutes or more use a warm eye compress, I am very stressed due to my bloodshot eyes from dry eye, and I find that the warm compress helps me to fall asleep but do not want to "wash" away or eliminate the effects of the eye drops with the moisture from the warm compress. any thoughts will be appreciated !
