restasis

Avatar n tn My ophthalmologist recently prescribed restasis for dry eyes. I read that cyclosporin can causes cancer. Is this true? Are these drops safe?
Avatar m tn ve had experience with prednisone and cyclosporin and read about Xolair. I will explain all of them in due time. During my hospitalization the doctors prescribed me with prednisone and it almost seem to work like magic relieving my skin. The skin began to dry out and the itching was completely gone! (I was amazed by this, first time in 20 years I did not feel itchy at all.. I actually almost cried because of it). Later I found out my dermatologist at Brigham wasn't very happy with this.
Avatar f tn Had silver nitrate treatment x 2. Now am on 1% Cyclosporin, which burns like acid. Nothing has even begun to work.He said the next step was to have ocular surgery where the mast cells are literally scraped off, but he said it's not always successful. I continue to have extreme photophobia and feel like I have gravel under my eye lids. Please advise as to treatment, as am one miserable and discouraged woman.
Avatar m tn There are two other drops like Restasis, xiidra which patients do not like and is very expensive and Cequa which is same medicine as restasis but stronger concentration. Ask you ophthalmologist about Restasis (cyclosporin) think it just became available as generic.
Avatar m tn she was taking cyclosporin dosage of 100mg bd, which was increased after 10 days(January 4, 2010) to 150/100mg bid . her SGOT/SGPT level started rising from December 28, 2009 they started fluctuating till Feb 8,2010. After Feb the SGPT levels shoot up and it was highest of 218/398 on March 22, 2010. it should be also kept in mind that cyclosporin also have a tendency to effect the liver and increase in LFT levels.
Avatar f tn s cauterized and have had silver nitrate brushed across the back of both eyes. Now am taking 1% cyclosporin, which burns like fire for about a minute. Question - has anyone had success in treating this miserable condition? I am so discouraged as feel the photophobia and gritty feeling in my eyes is never going to go away. 1913232 tn?1361454089 I had liver cancer resulting from long term Hep C 1A infection. Prior to transplant I was a 2 time non-responder to interferon triple therapy [incevik]. I am cancer free today, however my Hep C has returned with a vengeance, my viral load is off the chart [in excess of 187 million]. I am experiencing a lot of discomfort, along with having to have my chest drained of fluids, fatigue, loss of appetite, etc. I have mentioned to my Dr.s getting me on one of the new non-interferon drugs.
Avatar m tn Cyclosporin (brand name Atopica) is a relatively new oral medication which can be used as a non-steroid way to reduce allergic skin inflammation and itching. It is helpful in approximately 80% of allergic dogs to control itch. Cyclosporin is given orally daily for 4-6 weeks, then the dose and frequency is slowly decreased to the lowest possible dose needed for comfort.
Avatar f tn org/user_journals/show/1648149/General-information-on-dry-eyes-tears-dysfunction-syndrome Both my wife and I have very dry eyes and both of us have been on Restasis (cyclosporin) for years with excellent results. I understand from postings from the UK this is difficult to get there.
Avatar m tn He told us to wait till the cyclosporin is stopped. When the cyclosporin was stopped, we waited for 45 days and had a HCV quantitative done. It was 1420000IU/ML ie 88% less than the last test conducted and SGOT/SGPT levels were 60/109. I had also gone through some articles on HCV which stated that out of 100 people who gets infected, 15 will get rid of the virus without any treatment.
Avatar f tn The ER doctor diagnosed me with Herpes Keratitis yesterday. I had been taking Restasis(Cyclosporin eye drops BID) and had many of the symptoms of side effects of that drug including low neutraphils, redness and swelling of eyelids, itching, feeling of foreign object in my eye, pain on administration of drops. I believe this is a drug reaction not Herpes Keratitis. What do you think?
510373 tn?1211003050 My dog has had the same smelly, red areas on her belly. Then eventually her hair started to fall out. Since then she has been put on cyclosporin, a human medicine to prevent rejection to people with organ transplants. She has gotten much better, but I also have to bathe her 2 time/week. She is getting there. skin infections are very common in Boston's. Good luck!
2093628 tn?1332979308 I have a 5 yr old rescue long haired chi mix that has neurogenic KCS (dry eye) adopted 10/2011. We've gone thru the university vet school ophthamology treatments (cyclosporin, tacrolimus, and pilocarpine drops) since 10/11 with no response. We are currently treating with gels, drops, and ointments throughout the day and antibiotic ointment as needed. The next step appears to be having his eye removed. Has anyone had this done?
Avatar n tn He is on Prednizone and Cyclosporin. She raised the Cyclosporin level to 800mg twice a day. When she raised his meds before, he started turning jaundice. Now at 800 mg twice a day he has become more jaundice. She refuses to change the medication or even think that it could be the medication causing this. How can tell if it is the medication? If it is, how can I get her to change the medications? What can I do?
Avatar f tn I would suggest a trial of cyclosporin (Restasis) as it is much safer long term because of the steroid side effects of cataracts, glaucoma and cornea infection. Not in some cases it has lasted 30-40 years and is more commin in females. So you are probably asking for trouble continuing to wear contacts. You should place yourself under the care of an ophthalmologist Eye MD that specializes in cornea and external disease.
Avatar n tn Background: My dog is a 11yr old German shepherd with bad hips. As a result he daily takes 75mg Deramaxx, 2 Glucosamine tablets, 50mg Tramadol, and 100mg Atopica (cyclosporine) with 200mg ketoconazole for an anal fistula problem. He had a yearly checkup 3 weeks ago. Bloodtest, wellness testing, vaccines, nails trimmed. They trimmed one nail too short, it bled alot, but they put a clotting agent on it. All blood levels were fine.
Avatar f tn After a poor response to steroids, followed by a 6‐month trial of cyclophosphamide, he was commenced on cyclosporin in January 1997. In October 1998 the patient complained of lethargy and tiredness. Examination was unremarkable, other than blood pressure 150/100. Investigations revealed Hb 8.7, with normal red cell parameters, ferritin 23, folate 6.1, creatinine 240, urea 21.8, corrected calcium 2.20, and phosphate 1.33.
Avatar f tn The pseudomonas was resistant to all the drug classses but the newest cyclosporin. She has had chronic ear infections since she was a baby (she's 13). I hope they can find an antibiotic to kill the infection, and do not take antibiotics unless the infection is definitely caused by bacteria because treating a sinus "infection" when it is a cold virus or allergy causing the congestion will lead to drug-resistant infections. I am a retired EMT-Intermediate.
Avatar m tn diquafosol is an eyedrop for dry eyes. It was approved for use in Japan in 2010. It is not available in many countries including the USA. So I have no experience using it nor do I know how it can be obtained in the Philippines. You would likely benefit from getting several other opinions about your problem including one from a specialist in cornea/refractive surgery. Also use the search feature and archives and read the many posts about dry eye treatment.
Avatar m tn During BMT she had moderate veno occlusive disease and she recovered. She was using Tab cyclosporin as immunosuppresant. She had some anomalies in her SGOT and SGPT. Last HCV RNA quantitative was done on March 30 2010 and the result was 12100000IU/ML. LFT results were as given below. Date total bilirubin Direct bilirubin Total protein Serum albumin SGOT/SGPT Alk.phos Cyclosporin dose 22.3.10 1.4 0.4 6.3 4.
Avatar m tn CSA = Cyclosporin A is an immunosuppressant used in post liver transplant patients to prevent organ rejection. Warning: Cyclosporin causes drug to drug interactions with INCIVEK. It causes the dosage of cyclosporin to go very high! Here is the warning from the INCIVEK package insert... "Plasma concentrations of cyclosporine and tacrolimus are markedly increased when co-administered with telaprevir.
Avatar m tn The chronic disease is estimated to cause more than 600,000 deaths yearly through advanced cirrhosis of the liver or primary liver cancer. The disease is worldwide, but most common in Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe and Africa, with over 8% chronic carriers. In Western Europe and the US, the frequency is less than 1%.
Avatar f tn 31, we decided to add the use of cyclosporin A to control the disease started on 9.15. At the same time, gradually reduced local and systemic hormones combined with cardiovascular, endocrine, digestive, renal medicine treatments respond to corresponding complications. Discharge: Right eye with blurry vision field, no obvious pain, tenderness. Physical examination: stable vital signs, VOD:1.0 (correction), VOS:1.5 (correction). Binocular conjunctival edema obviously, no obvious hyperemia.
Avatar n tn takes 4-6 months for them to work. There is a new double strength cyclosporin on a patented carrier (CEQUA) that works over 3-4 months. You should probably discuss Cequa with your cornea/refractive surgeon.
917763 tn?1311628896 Restasis (Cyclosporin) actually has been shown to inhibit HCV reproduction, and thus may in fact be a meaningful adjunct to therapy. If you google cyclosporin and HCV you may be able to find articles describing its anti-HCV activity, and studies that have been done. Its not like the standard cortico-steroid immune system inhibitors apparently.
