restasis

Avatar f tn Ask your ophthalmologist about putting you on a steroid drop like lotemax for several weeks to stop the cyclosporin burning.
Avatar m tn Is Cyclosporin a steroid ? My consultant has advised against steroids previously as I had Herpes Simplex Keratitis a few months ago which she said steroids could stir up again. The HSK was very painful and definitely don't want that again although she has warned ne it can reaccur.
Avatar m tn Even with ceseation of cyclosporin and a decrease in viral load a reading of 1,142,00 IU/mL is considered high. Importantly here is your daughter currently has minimal liver damage and will be having iron chelation therapy to prevent fibrosis acceleration. The BMT was succesful and that aspect of her health is under control . As time passes, the only thing that will confirm the presence of active HCV is an HCV RNA by PCR.
1913232 tn?1361454089 They seem to be dragging their feet, I was told there may be a chance for a hardship or sympathy prescription. I am looking for any suggestions, or information about achieving this. My next clinic is next Wed [7/24] I want to be prepared. Id also be willing to travel to expedite this. I feel sicker now than I ever have.
Avatar n tn My ophthalmologist recently prescribed restasis for dry eyes. I read that cyclosporin can causes cancer. Is this true? Are these drops safe?
Avatar m tn Cyclosporin (brand name Atopica) is a relatively new oral medication which can be used as a non-steroid way to reduce allergic skin inflammation and itching. It is helpful in approximately 80% of allergic dogs to control itch. Cyclosporin is given orally daily for 4-6 weeks, then the dose and frequency is slowly decreased to the lowest possible dose needed for comfort.
Avatar m tn Also, as a result of being on such a high dose of cyclosporin I tended to feel very sick for 2-4 hours after taking the medicine (fever like symptoms). If I did not carefully avoid sick people I would become extremely ill and even at one point was hospitalize for 4 days because my immune system grew so weak. Infections began to appear on my legs over time and I began to take antibotics along with the cyclosporin.
Avatar f tn org/user_journals/show/1648149/General-information-on-dry-eyes-tears-dysfunction-syndrome Both my wife and I have very dry eyes and both of us have been on Restasis (cyclosporin) for years with excellent results. I understand from postings from the UK this is difficult to get there.
Avatar m tn He told us to wait till the cyclosporin is stopped. When the cyclosporin was stopped, we waited for 45 days and had a HCV quantitative done. It was 1420000IU/ML ie 88% less than the last test conducted and SGOT/SGPT levels were 60/109. I had also gone through some articles on HCV which stated that out of 100 people who gets infected, 15 will get rid of the virus without any treatment.
Avatar m tn Methadone has a slow metabolism and very high fat solubility, making it longer lasting than morphine-based drugs. Methadone has a typical elimination half-life of 15 to 60 hours with an average of i would say about 22. However, metabolism rates vary greatly between individuals, up to a factor of 100 ranging from as few as 4 hours to as many as 130 hours, or even 190 hours. So it's hard to say.
Avatar f tn The ER doctor diagnosed me with Herpes Keratitis yesterday. I had been taking Restasis(Cyclosporin eye drops BID) and had many of the symptoms of side effects of that drug including low neutraphils, redness and swelling of eyelids, itching, feeling of foreign object in my eye, pain on administration of drops. I believe this is a drug reaction not Herpes Keratitis. What do you think?
Avatar m tn The BILT is bilirubin. Bilirubin is a major breakdown product of hemoglobin which is derived from red blood cells that are being broken down in a 'normal' fashion via the spleen. It's transferred to the liver where a large portion of it undergoes processing and becomes 'conjugated' - it's put together with something else to make it more water-soluble. The water solubility of bilirubin allows the bilirubin to be excreted into bile. (Bile then is used to digest fats.
510373 tn?1211003050 My dog has had the same smelly, red areas on her belly. Then eventually her hair started to fall out. Since then she has been put on cyclosporin, a human medicine to prevent rejection to people with organ transplants. She has gotten much better, but I also have to bathe her 2 time/week. She is getting there. skin infections are very common in Boston's. Good luck!
2093628 tn?1332979308 I have a 5 yr old rescue long haired chi mix that has neurogenic KCS (dry eye) adopted 10/2011. We've gone thru the university vet school ophthamology treatments (cyclosporin, tacrolimus, and pilocarpine drops) since 10/11 with no response. We are currently treating with gels, drops, and ointments throughout the day and antibiotic ointment as needed. The next step appears to be having his eye removed. Has anyone had this done?
Avatar n tn He is on Prednizone and Cyclosporin. She raised the Cyclosporin level to 800mg twice a day. When she raised his meds before, he started turning jaundice. Now at 800 mg twice a day he has become more jaundice. She refuses to change the medication or even think that it could be the medication causing this. How can tell if it is the medication? If it is, how can I get her to change the medications? What can I do?
Avatar f tn I would suggest a trial of cyclosporin (Restasis) as it is much safer long term because of the steroid side effects of cataracts, glaucoma and cornea infection. Not in some cases it has lasted 30-40 years and is more commin in females. So you are probably asking for trouble continuing to wear contacts. You should place yourself under the care of an ophthalmologist Eye MD that specializes in cornea and external disease.
Avatar f tn After a poor response to steroids, followed by a 6‐month trial of cyclophosphamide, he was commenced on cyclosporin in January 1997. In October 1998 the patient complained of lethargy and tiredness. Examination was unremarkable, other than blood pressure 150/100. Investigations revealed Hb 8.7, with normal red cell parameters, ferritin 23, folate 6.1, creatinine 240, urea 21.8, corrected calcium 2.20, and phosphate 1.33.
Avatar m tn This review describes a long-standing experience of screening for interferon (IFN) inducers in Russia. IFN inducers represent a special group of potential antiviral compounds. The main requirements for them are (1) high IFN-inducing activity, (2) absence of side effects, (3) wide spectrum of antimicrobial activity, (4) broad therapeutic security and, (5) good solubility in water and biologic liquids.
Avatar f tn The pseudomonas was resistant to all the drug classses but the newest cyclosporin. She has had chronic ear infections since she was a baby (she's 13). I hope they can find an antibiotic to kill the infection, and do not take antibiotics unless the infection is definitely caused by bacteria because treating a sinus "infection" when it is a cold virus or allergy causing the congestion will lead to drug-resistant infections. I am a retired EMT-Intermediate.
Avatar m tn You would likely benefit from getting several other opinions about your problem including one from a specialist in cornea/refractive surgery. Also use the search feature and archives and read the many posts about dry eye treatment. The current "gold standard' for severe dry eyes is Restasis (cyclosporin) although it does not give "instant relief". The newest eyedrop over the counter for dry eyes is "Retaine".
Avatar m tn I have been taking Restasis regularly for 2 months now for dry eye treatment. I usually put two drops in my eye at a time instead of just 1. It says it has "Cyclosporine Opthalmic Emulsion .05%. I have taken two Oraquick home tests and they both came up negative for hiv. Would the Cyclosporine be able to cause a false negative?
Avatar m tn Regardless of the newer drugs, if minimal liver damage is present a watch and wait approach should be considered as long as your daughter is being monitored regularly. A high iron level is a negative factor when initiating any type of antiviral treatment and can acclerate fibrosis so it is very important you consult with a hepatologist and thoroughly discuss your daugthers medical history.
