cutting chantix in half

It is my opinion to stay away from Chantix. Cutting down before quitting would be better. At least nicotine is a known drug as is the effects of smoking during the first trimester. I would take my chances with the known before I would Chantix. It's a class C drug which means it could cause problems. Good luck....I know exactly how you feel.

The plan of course is to wean myself off of the gum. I thought I would start by cutting the 4 mg in half and see if that works, the problem is I love the gum…. Does anyone here have any good ideas for getting off the darn gum now? I know there is no EZ way out, but any tips would be appreciated. Thank you.

My experience with Chantix was pretty good but I stopped taking Chantix after my third quit day. All total, a month and a half, and I didn't look back. It is 4 months today and I had some severe reactions to my quit....2 sinus infections, pneumonia & pleurisy. I have never been sick like that but I am told that it is coincidental and has nothing to do with my quit.....hmm.......

Hi im not sure how long ago i decided to start cutting my klonopin in half (maybe almost a month ago) and i was tapering off xanax also anyways i starteed cutting my 0.5 mg klonopin in half and taking 1/2 every 4 hours and i ahvent felt teh best so last night i decided maybe i should go back on how it says on my bottle tot ake them 1 pill 3 times a day..so i took a whole one last night and anotehr hole one this morning and i felt so drugged out and dizzy amd jsust ill.

I realize this may sound strange but I was wondering if any of you have a "pill cutter" at home or do you just cut your pill in half with a knife? I am cutting down on the dose of my beta blocker per my Doctor and I was wondering if I have to purchase a pill cutter or can I just cut it with a knife or razor? I am a little anxious because you aren't supposed to "crush or chew" these pills and I'm afraid that if I cut it.......perhaps it will be crumbly.

Read the post by Joanna564 dated 3/11 titled "Is itching a symptom of nicotine withdrawl." It's hard to say what is or isn't normal but I'm quite sure that it does have to do with with your cutting back or the Chantix even though it isn't listed as a side effect. I had itching also but mainly my nose and scalp. I had finished taking Chantix by then so I didn't think to blame it on that. You said that you were having headaches a few days ago. Have those subsided?

Hey My dad had like a month and half of chantix left it didnt work for him well he didnt really try that hard though! But i was wondering if anyone else had tryd that? He said i can have his month and half worth but i dont think a month and half is long enough to take it. So i was going to get it prescribed to me. But before I do i was wondering if there are any rating of it from you all?

Thank you both for your replies..........I had a really horrid day at the hospital. Drove to work in a freaking blizzard, had the "weird" feelings zapping me from the Chantix, then I got a migraine and then I made the mistake of taking my BP which sent me into a panic attack. I told my charge nurse I was going to the ER cuz I was feeling REALLY weird, but she just had me lay down with some oxygen and relax.........I took one of my Xanax and actually fell asleep for about an hour.

I've got the same thing going on. My chest hurts but it's centered in my breasts. Also got a bit of back pain and neverending nausea. I've been on chantix for a week and a half and will NOT be refilling it. These new pains are the last straw for me!

She recommended that I cut my Chantix dose in half, if it continues. So yes i am working very closely with my doc. Thanks for the kudos, the Chantix has really helped me , knock on wood.

Been on Chantix for 1 month...a week and a half ago I noticed my breast were tender...felt like i was 14 again...they are swelling...a whole cup size now...

t know what the price differences are for smaller dose pills but assuming the worse that they are higher in price, and that the Dr wants me to take 1/2 the dose, would cutting the pills in half have the same effect as getting 20mg pills?

I am on day 3 my head felt weird the first two days along with my eyes anyone else have the eye thing? Day three my head is killing me & upset stomach. I am thinking maybe it is too strong for me I weigh 115lbs not sure going to try to break it in half tomorrow & take 1/2 in the am & pm instead of 2 pills along with an alive...

Hi I did the chanix last year and it was a miricle but the doses are for one size fits all and I am a small person so I cut them in half and I still was able to quit for the first time in I don't know how many tries. I did have lots of gas...sorry drink lots of water and found out I was really sleepy so then I went to night time dose only. BUT I am the only person that quit taking it due to sleepiness maybe that was possible MS thing.

I also quit smoking and was on Chantix at the same time. I thought the terrible side effects were Chantix. But I still am in trouble after stopping Chantix 7 weeks ago. Pretty nuts, a change from smoking 40 years, Effexor, Chantix, and Prozac. Should I quit every drug and start over?

Place your pack in another room in a drawer. (I had put mine in the dining room breakfront.) If you do that, you will only smoke when you actually want to. You will find that, in very short order, and with no feeling of deprivation, you will have cut back by almost half. After that you start to say things like, "I will wait 15 minutes before I go for that cigarette." After a while you will forget about the 15 minutes and realize a half hour has passed. Chanticleer worked well for me and I cut the last 2 weeks pills in half and weened myself off them just in case I would experience some sort of rebound from stopping the Chantix. I was fine!

I have taken it twice now, The dose is for one body type fits all so I cut the pills in half drink LOTS of water at least some food and take gas x for bloting, which gets better. I did not get the vivid dreams some have but I did not take the full dose I stopped smoking without trying by week 3 it was amazing. Unfortunatly I got so sleepy not sure if it was the chantix heard others said it was I had to go off it and yeap right back at smoking.

I am ready to quit, and noticed you said you took Chantix. would you recommend this pill? How long after being on Chantix did you actually stop smoking? I was prescribed bupropian, and wonder if maybe Chantix would be better.

I was just wondering if I'm getting the right amound of thyroid meds, I'm on Armour and for the past 6 weeks or so I've been cutting my pills in half,taking half in the morning and half around 3 but sometimes I'm late taking them, will this mess with my levels? Also They just fall apart so I chew them, are they absorbing that way? and I'm just wondering when I get my labs done the 31 will I be lacking due to this method of taking my meds?

The side effects mentally, emotionally and physically have been so bad that my Dr. advised talk half a dose or quit. Chantix had been working as far as my not having severe cravings to smoke, so I dosed down and also started a slow wean to avoid the horror of Chantix wihdrawal as well as the nicotine withdrawal. Chantix did nothing to relieve physical symptoms.

are you talking about the 5 mg percocet...i used to break mine in half but i don t know about 4ths...i think it would be safe....
