cut zoloft in half

i was only on 50mg zoloft for around 4 years and cut back to one, one night, half the next for a week, then half per night, then every two days, three days etc. People need to read up on their medications and take direction from their doctors as they study for the privelage of knowing what they are talking about.

I've had some suggestions to cut the pills in half, but I have capsules, not tablets and they cannot be cut in half. What should I do??

You might also discuss with your psychiatrist splitting the dose in two, taking half in the morning and half in the evening to see if that evens you out.

m switching to Zoloft and I cut the pill in half to 25. That seems to be working so far. If it turns out that the e.d. returns I'll try be happy to try another anti depressant. If I have to stick with Zoloft I wonder if they'll give me an rx for Cialis or one of those medications. It's kind of expensive without a rx. My girlfriends older brother takes Cialis but he isn't on anti depressants.. He is just getting on in years (61) so not that old. Anyway..thanks.

I only have a few left and havent taken it in a couple days and i am miserable should I cut them in half I dont know why i feel so bad it could be pms or my zoloft but it started when I stopped adipex.

What I do is get the 20 mgs and cut them in half. There is only a few dollars difference in these two doses.

You can stop right away with no withdrawal symptoms or minimal ones since you have been on it only 16 days. Tapering it could take more than 16 days. If you got tablets then you can cut them in halves and take a half every 2 day for 1 week or 2... I don't think you should get bad withdrawal symptoms after 16 days tho.

Isn't Opana Time Released? I know you're the doctor, but I don't think you should inform people to cut their medications in half, ESPECIALLY if they're time released as this could cause a rapid release of all the medication in turn making her more sick, or am I wrong? I cut the pill in half and took 50 milligrams for about two weeks. After the two week period I cut the pill into quarters and took 25 milligrams for the last two weeks. I then stopped completely and have been very dizzy, light headed and suffering from a daily headache. Sometimes I find it hard to concentrate, but I am trying to cope with this as best I can. Is all of this normal after stopping Zoloft?? I am getting worried and would like to start feeling like my old self.

Ditto what the good Dr. Sharma said. I might add that SSRIs are among the most difficult drugs to wean off. You are going off it too quickly, as evidenced by your side effects that you find way too bothersome. Therefore, you will have to lessen how much you are cutting back on your pill.

Yes, my pill can be split in half. I don't have a pill spliter, so I am wondering if I can use a knife to cut it. I already cut it actually and it split right in half. My pill has a "divit" like a divider already so it cut very easily.

I've been on Zoloft just 1 week so far. Today, I started feeling a little better. I read it can take up to a month to work. I cut my dose of Lorazepam in half to see how I would feel and so far so good. I've been to counseling for years. I think the Lorazepam caught up to me as I'm not getting the benefits I used to out of it. Hopefully, the Zoloft alone will work eventually. Thanks for responding!

This is a question for your Dr. But, 2 weeks isnt very long to be on a medication. But no matter how long or short im on a med, i always wean just to be safe. Some Drs say you'll be fine... but I don't take that chance of cold turkey. What I do, and I'm not giving medical advice,... but I'll take half of what I'm taking for about a week, then a cut that half in half, for a week, then just a little bit for a week, then done. Works pretty good for me. =) Tell your Dr.

I have held the valium taper since August due to diarrhea and decided to taper zoloft but now I am not sure which to taper first. I am suppose to be taking 3 mg of colonazapam a day with it but it makes me pretty much want to sleep so I cut them in half and it seems to be working. I still get wired in certain situations just not as bad as it was and I can sleep now. When I was on it I actually cut the 25 mgs pills in half for the first week, then went up to 25 mgs the second week. If you're really afraid of starting this med you might want to try it the way I did. You can always call your Dr and ask if you can do it this way.

Does Tramadol have as much SSRI in it as Zoloft? Does 100mg of Tramadol have as much SSRI as say 50mg of Zoloft? I was taking Tramadol while I was going through Zoloft withdrawal and I'm just wondering if I stunted the healing process of my Zoloft withdrawal. i cannot keep nothing down.. i even reduced my pill two half of 100 mg zoloft and iam still nausea and now i tool a 1/4 last night and still nausea.. the reason i take it is anxiety disorder... just worried...

I've been on Zoloft for about 4 years for anxiety and it's been great for me. This past July my doctor said I would have to schedule an appointment to get more refills since I hadn't been in awhile. For whatever reason I didn't feel like having to schedule an appointment and travel 30 minutes and talk to a new doctor about my condition. I've been back and forth between 50-100 mg in the 4 years I've been on Zoloft.

Or just the Zoloft? I took Zoloft over ten years ago for a year and a half and did not experience this weight gain. Any advice would be great! Thanks!
