Cut opana er in half

Common Questions and Answers about Cut opana er in half

opana

I've been taking opana er for a while to help with chronic pain. I'm so tired of living on pain medicine and want to stop. Can anyone please tell me what I can expect as far as how long I will be sick and just how sick I will get?
Hi Family, I am down to 10mg Opana ER (extended release in two 5 mg. pills) plus four 5 mg Opana IR (immediate release) pills per day. I am struggling to decrease from 10 mg to 5 mg because the jump is 50%! It is too great of a jump. It causes my pain and my anxiety to get out-of-control. I need to change to another opiate that is easier to taper on. I need a pill I can cut, and Opana ER cannot be cut. I hope to taper my medicine.
I did pretty well with the Dilaudid, but it gave me such a rush that I don't want to develop a psychological addiction to it. I've tried cutting the Opana ER in half, but the blade in the cutter won't cut it. Any advice out there? Thanks.
I cannot stress enough of not taking this med in any other way than through the mouth as I saw him in person and after the doctor cut him off he was a total wreck for over a month!
not that i would, but is there a BIG diferance in snorting the opana ir compared to opana er due to the TIMERx in it? i know that chewing the opana er dont make that much differance because it turnes into a big clump of gel anyway. any info?
He said to get in shape and come back in about 4 months,so we can schedule your next cut. O.K. mind you, about 2 months into it,I descided to call him up and ask him a question, the nurse says that we don't except your insurance anymore. Holy ****,what a complete *****. Here I am in agony with one hip recouperating and one deteriorating and extremely painful,to say the least.
I may not have been able to get this far off of Opana without them for this long. Opana is a ruthless killer, especially Opana ER. I know you left your DOC, thinking you had found something to help you. I knew there were dangers, but I was too afraid of Opana to not go this route when it was offered to me. I thank God they were able to detox me with it too. But, this is incredible for a doctor to tell me I am overreacting SO I need to stay on it longer.
Bad part for me is, I continue to get kidney-stones on a very regular basis, so I find myself in the ER 1, sometimes 2 times a month (some months are better, some worse). And what do they give you in the hospital for a kidney-stone? You guessed it... Dilaudid. I can't get away from pain-meds, unfortunately for me. I only go to the ER when I'm in extreme pain, and have a large, unpassable stone (or a large one that I need help passing).
you may end up in the ER though if you take the speed route. just sayin.
go as long as you can without anything and just when you start feeling crappy. Just take a half. Keep doing that just cut it in half....hold .....half hold....that worked for me...then see a sub doc. Get subutex NOT suboxone....and take a 1 pill at night half it hold half it hold....and maintain on a chip and break away! Worked for me hope it works for you!
Oxycontin is actually a preferred brand name drug so it is much cheaper than the Opana ER. But, I could take two 15 mg Opana tablets in the morning and one 15 mg Opana ER tablet at night and that would cost a $10 copay for a 30 supply. I think if we both decide to stick with the 30 mg during the day, I will keep and use the 30 mg brand tablets for this month and then switch next month over to the generics. What do you all think?
i have come to the conclussion i will always be in pain. i take opana er 20mg 2x day, cymbalta 60mg for my mental, oxicodone 10/650 for break thru pain (which is all the time) i am now applying for social security disablity. But you know what you have to be strong, get tough and this web site really lets you know you are not alone there are many of us with the same problem. Over the last few months it has helped me so much so find a GOOD Dr. to fix it. I could have been paralized.
My question is with I have the terrible withdrawal symptoms that are always mentioned in our forums (believe me I have suffered enough in the long 3 month taper from Opana ER to this dose of short-acting Opana). I would LOVE to hear from anyone that has done a long taper to 0 and not jumped at another dose. I don't know whether I will be okay or whether I will have the myriad of withdrawal symptoms. Some of your experience, strength and hope is appreciated.
I just went down to 19 mg Opana ( three 5mg of Opana ER plus a chip off a 5 mg short-acting Opana). I am hoping to continue my taper while my motivation is strong, and I have great WILLINGNESS. Hopefully, I can get my NP to trade my 20mg Opana ERs for a prescription for 10 mg Opana ERs earlier than my regularly scheduled appointment. I am weary of tapering after 3 months of doing this. Gnarly, thanks for discussing the taper. I am focusing on each tiny little step -- at a time.....
I actually cut them in half and space the 1/2's out in a 2 hour period, instead of taking an entire pill at once. I've found that it works better for me that way. (My PM Dr. has OK'd this for me.) (I ALWAYS run EVERYTHING past him. I don't try anything by chance.) Good Luck...
I got myself addicted to Opana ER 40mg. I crush and snort 3 per day and sometimes take a few 10mg percs. I need to get off this crap. I quit a 7 year xanax addiction and if i can get through that, this is I can do too. Basically I got myself about 40 8mg diluadids and 20 30mg oxycodones to help with the withdrawals. I just dont know how to go about it the best way and I dont have a doctor.
It has taken me 4 months to get from 40 mg Opana ER three times a day plus some 10mg PRN Opana IR to three 10 mg Opana ER daily plus three to four Opana IR daily. I have now just switched all the ER to IR. This is why I am awake at 3 am now! And hoping (Unlike last night) to get some more sleep). 44 days is a fair amount of time to taper, and it seems to me that doing it over this amount of time will minimize rebound pain! I am still on about 10 (much lower mg) Opana IRs a day.
I got off clonazapam and soma about 7 months ago. These were the mood-altering drugs. Opana ER isn't mood altering. But, I have become pretty frightened of how much I am on, and how vulnerable it makes me. The question is always how will I handle my pain issue after getting off Opana ER. I don't know yet. Do you have a pain issue? And, have you found any other alternative solutions? I am trying Lyyrica and Savella. I don't see that anything really helps.
Then after 16 hours or more take 1 8mg tab and since you only have so little of them try to survive with just 1 if you are miserable then I would take 1/2 of 1 4mg but no more than that that would make 12mg. Then the next day try to cut 1 8mg in half and do 1/2 am 1/2 pm and see how you do. Good luck I'm on sub now for almost 12 weeks and tapering started at 10mg now 1mg for the past 4 days and doing Good.
I was snorting at least 100mg a day in addition to taking at least 40mg ER orally. Bioavailability for Opana orally is horrid at 10%. Snorting brings it up to around 40%. I no longer take any ER after talking to my doctor last week and asking if it was ok to drop the ER instead of continuing to taper. He said it was fine as long as I thought I could handle the wd. I break my IR Opana into quarters, so I snort 8 bumps a day at 2.5mg each.
So the nurse comes in and hands me a script...it was for opana er 20 mg, and 160 demerol 50 mg to take 5x a day! I asked the nurse if she could ask the doc if she could still give me the roxicodone instead of the demerol, and let me have that with the opana, and she said she couldnt. Im assuming this is because since i showed up negative..and I had explained that the roxicodone was just not lasting more than 3 or 4 hours...she had to make a change. I just said ok...well thank you.
Once I started the Incivek I quickly discovered an interaction between it and the Opana that knocked me on my butt, so I cut my dosage of Opana in half, 10mg, 2x daily. After I completed tx last September I struggled with increased pain but have managed to keep my dosage down anyway, just because I prefer to. I did achieve SVR in spite of already having had cirrhosis for 8 years before starting. Triple tx was hard but it is doable and it is vastly preferable to ESLD.
my questions is if you think they are too strong have you tried taking half dose? maybe cut the pill in two and try that see if it helps with the side effects and your pain... I agree with your husband, don't call the doctor again. and you are in a spot with the pain contract but try the half dose...keep in touch and let me know how it works..
Hello Dear Tramadol Warriors! I am very glad to see you all. You're in the right place if you want off the Tramadol! You can do it! I believe in you!
If you are on the TIME Released pill do not try to cut it in half...you will OD yourself that way. The best thing would be to talk to your doctor about this. They are all more than happy to try to help people cut back, and if you want to check into a rehab, because you have health issues that can make withdrawal difficult, then the doctor can help you to get the insurance approval going for that as well. Hope you do well.
I had a gallbladder attack the end of March which lead to pancreatitis (the stone got stuck in the duct leading to pancreas) and a month long stay in the hospital 2 and a half hours away from my boyfriend, one year old and all the rest of my family. When discharged the end of April I was given scrips for fentanyl 50 and liquid morphine(I had a feeding tube nothing by mouth) the morphine was comparable to quitting Tylenol no problems at all.
Phillip Seymour Hoffman was found in his Manhattan apartment with a syringe still stuck in his arm and fifty heroin bags in his possession. So I thought back to patient we had very recently, who is also a heroin addict. He called us of his own volition for help. He said he was done and wanted to be free of this drug. He seemed committed to his decision; he convinced his parents that this is the right way to go and got them on board.
My doc gave me diazapan to take half in morning and one half at night and slow release tramadol one in morning and one at night i went two weeks without the panafen and thought i might just buy one pkt and now back to were i started from..i have heard alot of people getting addicted to tramadol but to be honest they don't really do anything for me except take away most of the w/d still go the toilet a bit get bit sweaty and go off food for a while. and not alot of energy....
I can add a little bit from personal experience. I've taken Opana ER for quite a while due to severe chronic pain from spinal damage. I took it throughout triple tx with Incivek. My doctors had no idea it would interact with the Incivek and gave me no warning, but it most definitely did interact. The narcotics were much stronger and much longer lasting while I was on Incivek, such that after the first day or two I cut my dose of narcotics in half and did fine with that.
