Avatar f tn I've had some suggestions to cut the pills in half, but I have capsules, not tablets and they cannot be cut in half. What should I do??
Avatar m tn Over the years I am down to 12.5 Corge and off Lisinopril although my left top half of my heart remains slightly enlarged. The coreg normally lowers the HR. My HR runs 48-50 BPM. Coreg's purpose is to lower HR and help the heart squeeze more blood with each beat to keep the heart from wearing out so quickly. How many mg. of Coreg are you taking?
1210142 tn?1266077031 The cardiologist suggested to cut Carvbedilol in half/so now I am taking 3.125 twice a day instead of 6.25 and my chest pain almost disapear. I don't know if Losartan can cause this or just switching drugs my body needs more time...? The above mentioned side effects are very bothersome and I don't know if they are from Losartan or...just need time? From your expirience: looking for BP medications with good proven record and less side effects?
1059594 tn?1261323966 Isn't Opana Time Released? I know you're the doctor, but I don't think you should inform people to cut their medications in half, ESPECIALLY if they're time released as this could cause a rapid release of all the medication in turn making her more sick, or am I wrong? Avatar m tn Sent me to a cardiologist, heart looked fine other than a mild leaky valve. Stress test went good I did it for 9 and a Half mins. Doctor Said I was healthy. I was put on Losartan 100/mg -Hctz 25mg shortly after my Bp was over 140/80 a couple visits to the doc. It now runs 135/75 when I check it usually sometimes 127, or 142 just depends I guess. I exercise, I eat pretty healthy, I'm young and I'm really wondering how to deal with this?
Avatar f tn Yes, my pill can be split in half. I don't have a pill spliter, so I am wondering if I can use a knife to cut it. I already cut it actually and it split right in half. My pill has a "divit" like a divider already so it cut very easily.
Avatar n tn I was curious if anybody has read or experienced where Lisinopril can cause PVC'S. I first noticed early beats shortly after my Lisinopril dose was increeased to 20mg from 10mg, I take for mild high blood pressure. I informed my doctor about this coorelation but he dismissed it. If my research is correct, Lisinopril can take about 7 hours to begin to work in the body and reaches it's peak potency after about 12 hours.
Avatar m tn Here recently though after I take Lisinopril it has jumped to 130 when walking 100 when resting. I take Lisinopril in the morning and my pulse jumps but at night it gos back to being okay (Lisinopril's half life is 12 hours). I haven't taken today because I was out but my resting pulse is 90 and when I went to WalMart it went no higher than 110 unlike 140 yesterday. I am a 24 overweight male 5'4" 190 and I am out of shape.
Avatar n tn I wanted to know if I can cut the pills in half. Would taking 250mg. be as effective? All the symptoms of my uti are gone. I was supposed to take the pills for 7 days and I stopped after 4 because of side effects.

Avatar n tn I cut his dosage in half and the next day he was fine. That night I again gave him the 12.5 mg dose. Today he is once again non functional, sleeping all day, and has blurred vision. I will not be giving him any more metropolol. His blood pressure this morning was 122/75.
Avatar f tn My symptoms got much worse, with lightheadedness whenever I got up and nearly constant palpitations. He has now cut that medication in half (20mg to 10). I live in a Third World Country so am concerned about quality of care. My questions are, in general if I should be taken totally off BP meds because my arrhythmia so lowers my BP and if I should be put on some kind of arrhythmia meds. I can't think this much racing heart is doing me any good!
Avatar f tn Metoprolol 25 mg. Does it make a difference in what I'm taking, wether I can cut in half or not? The PA knows what I am taking and he told me just to cut it.
Avatar n tn My husband is 55 years old and was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy 5 years ago (may have been alcoholic cardiomyopathy?) -- he has been on coreg and lisinopril for 5 years with very few side effects -- his cardiomyopathy has resoved and his heart is "healthy" back to normal size and function. He decided to stop taking his coreg and lisinopril last week. He is weaning himself down. I think he is crazy for doing this -- especially without telling the doctor .
Avatar m tn s the doc there said to stop taking them. He saved my life. Slowly my heart went back into rhythm. I take half a tab of lisinopril plus garlic, hawthorn, hibiscus tea, Q10 and sometimes more. I am doing ok. One time when my doc prescribe the bb i told him i couldn't take it. He upped the lisinopril. I don't take the whole pill, but i do check my bl pr like 6-8x a day at least. If it goes over 140/90 i take another half pill. But i always check the bl pr.
Avatar m tn I have been taking 40 mg lisinopril for 3 months. It works on my BP but I am coughing and my nose is running.
Avatar m tn For people like me who have prescription coverage, it would be cheaper in the long run to buy 30 days worth of 100 mg pills and cut them in half (if I was told to take 50 mg) because they would last me twice as long for the same price. The trouble comes in with some pills that are enteric coated and not meant to dissolve quickly in the stomach. That can mess up the effectiveness of the medication. I'm back on Diltiazem now and it's a pill that comes in a capsule.
Avatar m tn First a little about me. I'm 33 years old. 6'2"- 200-205 and 14% body fat and very fit. I workout reguarly, have been doing martial arts and crossfit for 15 years and am teacher. I ran an half marathon, 10 months ago. I've now been diagonosed with idiopathic cariodmyopathy. I' have no chest pain, occasional shortness of breath(with extreme or long effort). Not even when I'm exercising or training do I have any pain.
Avatar m tn Upon release from the hospital an echo stated my ejection fraction was 50%.Meds 325 asprin, lisinopril 10mg daily, lipitor 40 mg, metorolol 25mg daily, Plavix 75 mg daily zetia 5mg daily. Then I began cardiac rehab for 6 weeks and was working out at 60 minutes a day at achieving a MET level of 7.5 On 11/3/2010 had a nuclear stress test that stated my ejection fraction was 36%. It also stated "there were no abnormal ST segment changes in response to exercise.
Avatar n tn Does anyone know if Harvoni tablets can be cut in half or crushed to take easier, mixed with jello or yogurt to insure that it is absorbed. My digestive system is fast. I can not find anything in the literature that says you can or can not break in half.
351317 tn?1204751871 The 10mg zyrtec is too strong for me so can I cut it in half and take 5mg instead?
Avatar f tn My doctor said my numbers look great but I feel like poop! I was taking Nature Thyroid 81.25 Split half in the morning and half in the afternoon. she has changed me to Amour Thyroid 60mg split half in the morning and half in the afternoon about a week ago. I am also taking 500mg metformin, 40 mg omeprazole, 10mg lisinopril, 5mg potassium. please give me your feed back on what is going on with me and my numbers .
Avatar f tn In general, lisinopril should not be taken with potassium supplements or diuretics that conserve potassium [for example, hydrochlorothiazide/triamterene (Dyazide)], since blood potassium levels may rise to dangerous levels. PREGNANCY: Lisinopril should not be taken during pregnancy because fetuses and neonates have died when lisinopril was administered during pregnancy. NURSING MOTHERS: It is not known whether lisinopril is excreted in breast milk.
Avatar f tn Most of us feel best with Free T4 at about the mid range point and Free T3 in the upper half to upper third of the range. I doubt yours would be near that. What if any, symptoms do you have other than the blood pressure issue? Typically, if a dose is doubled, as with the Lisinopril, the pills may be the same dosage, but instructions will say to take 2/day instead of just one. Please check your new bottle and see if that's how the script is written.
