Cut ambien cr in half

Common Questions and Answers about Cut ambien cr in half

ambien

Avatar f tn Then, 30 minutes before actually going to bed I give him Ambien CR. The regular Ambien was not working at all. Ambien CR on the other hand seems to calm him down and there has been less action. I also placed a body pillow between us and that seems to curtail some of the aggressiveness. It gives him less space to move around and I feel safer. Yes, he speaks while he is asleep, (more of gurgutal sound than words) but it has come down a bit.
1102799 tn?1269237714 Fairly soon my Ob-gyn switched me to Ambien CR 12 mg and this worked quite well (1/2 at night and 1/2 in the middle of the night) - I definitively prefer Ambien CR to regular Ambien. PS: be careful if you try to switch to Lunesta, a friend of mine did that and he started to sleepwalk!!
Avatar f tn on my worst night, i think i took 9. i always cut them in half to bypass the slow-release. at one point i was snorting it, but it gave me a sore throat so i stopped. i need to sleep. i don't know how to do this. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. i don't smoke pot, and i don't know if that would improve this at all. i don't know. i don't know. i just need to SLEEP.
Avatar m tn I started taking Alprazolem for anxiety 15 years ago. Since then I only take .5mg at night to help me relax and fall asleep. I now find the the 1 pill at night is not helping me sleep. So I started taking Ambien CR and stopped taking the Alprazolem. I'm sleeping great, but feel terrible in the morning. I feel nausea and tingling numbnest in my arm and face. Do you think its from the Ambien or from me stopping the alprazolem. Any advice?
Avatar f tn m taking the Ambien CR and THANK GOD FOR IT!!!!!!!!!!! I tried regular Ambien and had 2 nights in one week that I only got 2 hours of sleep... which didn't help with the depression or Riba Rage. I still wake up often, but am able to go back to sleep now. I have no problem with feeling bad the next day. I'm on Effexor for the depression. My feelings about the sx: Right now the most important thing is to kill this dragon... whatever it takes.
Avatar n tn I beleive it is hard to stop this drug will taper off but the company of the drug says not to cut it in half that scares me right now im withdraw from narco my 5th day and need ambin to sleep throught the night hope all this needs soon
Avatar n tn Ambien CR does come in 12.5 mg -- I have some. the regular ambien does not, but ambien CR does. just clarification.
783281 tn?1259691431 I would give the trazodone some more time to see if your body starts to deal with the hangover effects a little better before you go back to ambien cr. In the past one thing that did work for me was remeron(mirtazapine 15-30mgs), along with melatonin. The remeron is an anti-depressant that alot of doctors prescribe to help with sleep, it doesnt really do much as far as alleviating any depression issues.
763205 tn?1234422576 I have been taking Ambien/Ambien CR for several years now. I switched from the regular Ambien when the Ambien CR became available. Two nights ago I took my nightly migraine medications and my Ambien CR. I remember being awake for about 45 mins after that and then I remember nothing. Some how I was unconscience when I took 8 more Ambien CR 12.5 mg. I remember nothing after that. I went on a wild rampage in my room and destroyed everything in sight and I do mean everything.
Avatar f tn t said if he is taking Ambien or Ambien CR. The Ambien CR helped me MUCH more than the regular Ambien. Of course I never slept the whole night through but a few hours then I'd wake up about 2 but I was able to go back to sleep usually even if it was several times a night. Good luck, I've never been much of a good sleeper but if it gets that bad I would seek out a sleep clinic doctor place - he could have sleep apnea or something that is compounding the situation.
649598 tn?1239117215 On the other hand, I had an unpleasant reaction to trazodone, so in my case concomitant use of antidepressants, Klonopin, and Ambien CR works best for me. In other words, you may have to use more than just a sleeping pill to treat your insomnia, as you are probably finding out with your use of Klonopin. Just be cautious as that drug has highly addictive properties. Make sure you wean down off of it if you have been taking it for any amount of time.
Avatar f tn They were the single most important peripheral I took during tx. After a sleep pattern became established, I was able to cut them in half. Stopping post tx was not difficult.
Avatar n tn Isnt there only 1 strength of ambien? I have been taking 10mg and I usually split it in half. I have went off of it for a few months but do not sleep. They are investigating pituitary, adrenal, thyroid problems for the reason I cant sleep. I dont even get tired ever have you ever heard of this?
Avatar f tn I started taking Ambien & Prozac in Oct 2009. I started building a resistance so my doctor prescribed for me Restoril, that didn't work so she started me on Lunesta. After I started building a resistance to the Lunesta my doctor prescribed for me Ambien CR 12.5mg. It's now March 2010 and I need 4 or more Ambien CR to sleep. I can't sleep without it!!! I haven't taken the CR 12.5mg in 24hr and I have the common addiction symptoms.
Avatar f tn Then a visit to my PCP for the Orthostatic Hypotension and he told me to go off those two drugs and gave me a script of 3 days with 1 refill of Ambien CR to see how I would react to that. After the 3 nights I started sleeping 18 to 20 hours of a 24 hr. period plus felt completely out of it. A call back to him and he said he just didn't know why I was doing that and suggested I should talk to my psyche about it which he was supposed to have done.
323551 tn?1255174750 If your not using the Ambien CR, and just Ambien...I would swtich to the CR. It helps you sleep longer (from experience). The benadryl is probably what is causing the "fog" the next day. You could also try clondidine for a week or two, .1mg twice per day. It will help you sleep at night, as well. I have had luck with the clonidine and am using the Ambien CR right now as I taper down.
Avatar m tn When drug companies lose their patents such as in Ambien and Paxil, they change the formulations, such as in CR, and wham, they have the patent again. I think 30 Lorazapam cost me 81 cents and 30 Paxil 40 cents.
763205 tn?1234422576 How many pills did you take after going back and counting the tablets? It's not uncommon for people who take ambien or Ambien Cr to not remember doing something. They fall asleep and don't know they're sleeping, so the end up taking more pills because they don't remember taking the 1st one and the cycle keeps on going. I've heard horror stories of people racking up credit cards, diving and cooking while on Ambien.
1139187 tn?1355706647 s the case you should ask your doctor if maybe you can get hold of Ambien CR so that it can stay in your system for a longer period of time
Avatar f tn If you use it to help with withdrawals such as insomnia, that's what it sounds like you asking, you're only substituting another drug in place of the other(s) . Then again, it's probably worked as a 'bridge' for some people to make the withdrawal easier. But as mentioned above, it is addicting and often just prolongs the process more.
Avatar m tn Ambien CR costs $200 versus $6 for the regular stuff. We did talk about it, and I wanted it, but at $200 a month it just ain't gonna happen. So I'm sticking with the Ambien for now. I don't really want to take higher dosages of temazepam. And like you say, getting off of ambien isn't that difficult, just a bit time consuming as you ramp down the dosage.
Avatar n tn I have done the sleep hygeine route, and have been tested for sleep apnea, tried several herbal sleep remedies, just about everything on the market, as well as ambien, ambien cr, and trazedone, all with little to no success. does anyone have any suggestion that may help me finally get some sleep??? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar m tn i have been on clonazepam for many months and ambien cr i am having problems with thinking straight, and i believe it is the clonazepam not the ambien cr.
1201433 tn?1328997637 Hi, I was on Lunesta for the entire tx and it worked great. Ambien comes in two forms one is extended ambien, do you know which one you are on? You should talk to your Dr about which one you are on.I took regular ambien long before tx and it didn't work too well for me either. Best of luck....
Avatar n tn I seemed like most people to wake up after about 4 hours (even on the CR Ambien time release) but I could fall back asleep again. And again. And again. So I got some sleep. It did help. Most docs have no problem prescribing sleeping meds for hep patients - they know how difficult it can be.
Avatar f tn That means that in a minimum of 37 hours, half of the stuff is gone from your body -- that means that over the next 37 hours half of what is left in the body (1/4th of the total) is also removed -- then half of that over the next 37 hours and so on. Bottom line is that Sub stays in your body for many days --- also the longer you use it the longer it takes for it to clear the body. Hope this helps. All the best.
Avatar f tn Hey, regular ambien effects last right around 4 hr. max and ambien cr which is controlled release is 8 hrs..the ambien, chemical name is Zolpidem, which is considered a "z" class sedative/hypnotic and is pretty potent can cause all the side effects- the memory loss, problems concentrating and especially daytime drowsiness is definitely a common problem...the usual starting dose for ambien is typically 5 mgs to 10mgs for either wd'ing detoxing and usually is prescribed for insomnia.
Avatar n tn My husband has been on Ambien CR for 9 months. His sleep doctor prescribed this for sleep apnea. Is this really safe? He is supposed to use his CPAP machine along with the meds., but he has not used the machine in months. Is this really good, safe intelligent treatment for sleep apnea?
