operation

1148201 tn?1262165258 After a MRI they have found that I have only MCL in my left knee in tact and need to have a operation to fix this. I have found many people with ACL tears on you tube but can't find info on the problems I have in my knee. Where could I see an operation to fix all ligaments if it can be done as will see my Doc soon to discuss the options and would like to know what they are before we do speak?
Avatar n tn Hi, One of the most common problems involving the knee joint is an anterior cruciate ligament tear. The anterior cruciate ligament is the primary restraint to forward motion of the shin bone (tibia). Thus, ACL prevents the tibia from sliding too far forward and also contributes stability to other movements at the joint including the angulation, rotation at the knee joint.
Avatar m tn Hi, I have a torn anterior cruciate ligament already diagnosed and I am waiting an operation. I had started running again and fell badly, with my knee this time going in a sideways direction. I do have concerns that I may have now also damaged one of my collateral ligaments. However, my immediate concern is that it has been over 2 weeks since I re-injured my knee and today a number of large bruises have appeared on my injured leg.
Avatar n tn A tear to an anterior or cranial cruciate ligament of the knee can cause this kind of acute problem as can invertebral disk disease. X-Rays and palpation of the knee under sedation can diagnosis a cruciate tear. X-Rays and possibly and MRI of the spine can help diagnosis disk problems. A cruciate tear creates a very unstable knee which can account for the falling down and wobbling in a 96 pound dog, but, disk problems can cause wobbling and falling down if there is enough pain.
Avatar n tn I think this is to get the knee and the muscles as strong as possible before the operation, as it is really weak and there is a lot of muscle wasting due to 4 weeks of not moving it I guess. The physio was baffled as to why I wasn't given any exercises sooner.
Avatar m tn Swelling of your bursa (a fluid-filled sac that helps with movement of your knee joints) above your knee cap
Avatar f tn the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), medial collateral ligament (MCL), and the medial meniscus.
Avatar n tn Sometimes also, due to the abnormal motion at the knee after the ACL tears, the meniscus (cartilage cushion) in the knee is also damaged. This may also need partial debridement at surgery. These manipulations are at least as important as the method of stabilization. TPLO is "tibial plateau leveling osteotomy" and involves cutting the bone itself, changing the angles that the bones relate to each other in the knee and creating stability that way.
Avatar n tn There is mild diffuse cartilage thinning throughout the weightbearing lateral compartment, without full-thickness defect. The anterior cruciate and posterior cruciate ligaments are intact. The medial collateral ligament, lateral collateral ligamentous complex, and popliteus tendon are within normal limits. The visualized quadriceps tendon and patellar tendon are intact and normal in signal. Patellar alignment is anatomic.
1148201 tn?1262165258 Also I have nerve damage causing foot drop that they say they will attempt to fix at as well. They need to graph from both hamstrings to my knee as well as a piece from my other knee. Many holes and much more pain. Ouch need some support to get though this one just a word from the wise. If you have had any done please let me know what you experienced as I find very little on web about multiple ruptures.
Avatar f tn Surgical changes are present including of prior anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. The anterior cruciate ligament graft is intact. (I get this, the ACL is in good shape) Interior posterior cruciate ligament. Intact collateral ligaments (Looks like this is ok too) The medial meniscus is somewhat diminutive and there is blunting/truncation of the free edge of the midbody segment, morphology consisten with sequela of prior partial meniscectomy.
1317473 tn?1329245903 hi, any idea what support is best for a torn meniscus and torn posterior cruciate ligament
Avatar f tn Towards the end of my vacation, I was walking on a road that went up and down in elevation and started to feel pain in my knee. 2 days later my knee was sore and it hurt to bend it. It hurt a lot more when I was walking up stairs or up a hill. I bought a knee brace and took it easy on my knee, but every once in awhile when I go for a walk of a couple of miles, I get the same pain. There isn't any bruising or swelling. The pain concentrates in the front underneath the knee cap.
Avatar m tn I was advised with some physiotherapy exercise and the physiotherapist told that the noise in knee was due to weakening of knee muscles. But even after one year the noise in the knee and pain was not reduced. Noise and pain especially while raising the leg in sitting position and considerably less during waling. Now the normal left knee is also started pain. Please let me know the noise and pain the affected knee is sign for arthritis?

Avatar n tn Below are the findings of my knee MRI please suggest in this case should i go ahead with the arthoscopy or shall take a treatment..
Avatar f tn Fortunately, the increased blood and growth factors in the knee during meniscal repair combined with cruciate reconstruction significantly improves the outcome of the meniscal repair. In ACL-intact knees with isolated meniscal tears, healing rates are less than in ACL-reconstructed knees but are higher than in ACL-deficient knees. The principles of repair include smoothing and abrading the torn edges and bordering synovium to promote bleeding and healing.
Avatar m tn I can’t really understand this pat of the MRI result. Its an MRI of my right knee. Please help me with this. Findings: There is patchy bone marrow edema within the lateral femoral condyle. The femoral attachment of the anterior cruciate ligament is not clearly identified. Impression: The femoral attachment of the anterior cruciate ligament is not identified. A full-thickness rupture is suspected. There is bone marrow edema within the lateral femoral condyle.
