The most effective statins are Lipitor, Crestor, and to a lesser extent Zocor. You should be on one if you can tolerate it. Niaspan is about the only current treatment to raise HDL. Raising HDL is the most important thing that you can do, so you should be on Niaspan if you have severe disease. You can add Welchol or Zetia as a third drug as needed.
